Oh man, wish I had watched your video instead of another. I did the exact same thing- broke the little tab on the panel. Didn't even know the panel was plastic. Great video!
Great video! Thanks, I was able to take that bottom panel off first and then the gas panel and not break anything because of your video. Much appreciated! Thank you again.
Thank you for the video. This was extremely helpful. Also confirmed that I ordered the correct part. It allowed me to go to Harbor Freight and buy both the plastic & metal trim removal tools. The plastic tool allowed me to replace the actual filler door without causing damage to the clip.
Two seconds into your video I see that my van fuel door matches yours. So disappointing. The bottom piece fell of somewhere along the road. The top hinge is broken. Thanks for the video.
Ford should pay for every one of these broken doors. The design and placement of this gas door is unbelievably bad, you've got to wonder how such an oversight was made if it wasn't intentionally done to sell lots of replacement parts.
SOLUTION... Reinforce the plastic with metal before putting on the new Ford hinge assembly, Of course this will also repair the existing assembly but you will have to remove it first. Get some plastic repair Epoxy and a 1/2" x .032" x12" wide K&S Brass strip. Brass or copper is desirable because it will not rust. Aluminum is too soft and will not bond well. Cut the Brass Strip into two 1.0" lengths and bend into a U Shape around a 3/16" drill bit. Place these clips where the hinges like to break as reinforcement and bend to match contours of the plastic t the upper and at the lower hinge pins. Then rough up the plastic with sandpaper. Then epoxy the reinforcement strips in place using C clamps. Wait 24 hours, paint if desired and install. They will never break again. Also cut that tab off the outer door white cover and use 3/4" x 2" Velcro or two small magnets to hold the door shut. Problem solved. NOTE: If you do not want to cut the fuel door tab then install a strip 1.5 x the height of the door, using Gorilla tape in the door jam. Allow the tape to overhang outside the jam by about 1/2" -3/4" and hang outside. Apply another piece of tape to any exposed adhesive of the tape. Cut to width. Adhesive to adhesive. Do not tape fuel door shut. The tape will prevent the driver from catching the fuel door as they exit the vehicle. Just make sure you place the tape from the bottom of the door height up. This will prevent the driver from rubbing the top edge of the tape off.
This is how not to do this job. This is how to scratch up your vehicle. Take the bottom off first. Do not take lessons from someone who breaks things while repairing things.
@@novakTeddyLOVA I critiqued a video. Ohhhh... Here's an idea. Please take your own advise. Leave videos to experts who know how to teach. Inexperienced users watch such videos of other even less experienced users and then get themselves into a bag. You defense of this hack video and "At least he is trying" is a rationalization and recipe for a disaster. I do not make videos. But I did post a proper solution below. It has helped many. That is more than you can say. But then again you already said too much.

Amen to that!!
They redesigned the gas door flap with the tab on top vs on the side.
My thoughts exactly my friend.
Thank you for the video. Very helpful. I believe that everyone that owns a Transit Van will have to do this sooner or later. Poor design by Ford.
No problem, thank you for watching. I appreciate it. I agree, very poor design.
