Your a Genius! I have been replacing Sea doo wear rings for years and your method is genius ! I popped out wear ring in just minutes. I just used a couple of 4x4's stacked instead of removing cone. Thanks.... just genius!

Fantastic technique to remove the old wear ring. Thank you. I used deck screws.

Worked great, it's not mentioned in your post, but I decided to pre-drill my screw holes. Used a 1x2 block of wood as a spacer to pry against, and the ring was out in no time.

Clever screw solution. I also haven't seen that before. I'm about to do this for my buddy's boat (same issue, gauged out from debris). I'll give your screw idea a shot!

I noticed at the end of the video that you engine cover is sitting over by the wall and it doesn't have the foam on it. Did you remove it or did it come like that? The foam on mine is falling apart and wondered if it would be very loud without it and if I should put something back on after taking it off.

I've a 07 speedster twin engine. I believe my wear rings need changed. That 310 HP I'm only getting to 35 mph at 6000-7000 rpm.

Hey John, I’m planning to tackle my seadoo switch 170 tomorrow. Same symptoms as your speedster. What is right stuff? Is it the gasket maker, and you put it on the o rings? Could I just use anti seize on there instead, or a dab of grease? Thanks for the tutorial.

"Right Stuff" is a silicone type gasket maker made by Permatex.
The big deal about "Right Stuff" is that it's VERY strong, makes a VERY good seal, and is "ready for fluids" and use, in one minute after assembling the parts.

Today I had my 2011 speedster out. On launch I picked up rock in the intake. When idling I could hear it getting knocked around. Was able to free the rock. But after pulling off and adding throttle the motor was revving but only reach 9 mph. On low throttle it was fine but adding throttle motor just revved high RPM but no speed. Any ideas on what happened? Also it took on some water which it rarely did had to run bilge pump on way back in.
