Emily and Richard finding the dog was a PERFECT example of well written characters because you can tell so much about them from that one simple scene
As an English tutor and script editor, I would totally give the Dog scenes to someone as a character analysis. You need no other information really to understand who these people are.
I think Lorelai giving birth is also a scene that showcases that
Lorelai throwing a fit over Rory applying to more than 1 college is insane
“My daughter is very successful in what she does” Period
The next scene is sad though, because when she thanks him he lets her know that he was not trying to protect her but the Gilmore name.
@@fernandaherrera5920 protecting dignity, which she clearly lacks
@@KH-hc6sy I'm sorry i don't understand why you would think that there's room for misogyny in this community. Get out.
@@fernandaherrera5920 He's a sad little troll looking for attention.
Emily's hair in the very first episode! 😅😅😅
😂😂😂 She's still a queen!! Love me some Emily. Lol. I be ready to fight when fandom comes for the diva. 😂😂
I was thinking the same thing 😅😂
I don't see anything wrong with it, she's always so beautiful and put together 💅👑
Her wardrobe too. Emily is dressed in a proper but somewhat dowdy manner. She isn’t the fashionista she is in later episodes. Kelly Bishop is only 56 here but the hair and clothing add ten years to her age.
Yeah I think her style became less businesslike and more elegant and feminine with the longer hair and skirts instead of pants
Logan: “Trust me, they never notice.”
You have never met Emily Gilmore, sir. That woman knows where everything in her house is supposed to be and how she wants it. Stealing something from her is taking your life into your own hands.
Emily and Richard had their flaws, but they were a product of their time. It doesn't make their deplorable treatment of people of a lower class than them acceptable, and the show does often show instances of them being humbled, Emily especially when she has to interact with her mother-in-law. They were loving parents and grandparents, just misguided and a bit rough around the edges, but clearly always had the best intentions. Emily thankfully was able to get fleshed out in the Netflix revival. If there is another season, I hope it gets to show how Emily becomes the spoiling your great grand children kind of great grandma.
Here! Here!
These two were definitely the highlight of the series for me. They were honestly the only relationship I cared about on the show, and I seriously enjoyed watching their dynamic on my screen. Their chemistry was everything and I loved them so much! There was never a dull moment with them and were literally the reason why I kept watching. I always looked forward to seeing what shenanigans they would be up to in upcoming episodes 😭❤️
What a lovely homage to Em and Richard. They're such a dignified, classy couple. They're far more entertaining than the classless exploits of the gruesome twosome.
23:46 was a stupid moment in Lorelai’s life. Of course Rory needed safety schools, and of course one of the safest bets would be where her grandparents are alumni and have probably donated. Those connections shouldn’t be things that make it easier to be accepted, but they are. Having back-up options is what everyone should do unless they live in the land of flying pink unicorns. This was the one time I remember that she really was being paranoid about her parents.
Lorelai was such a brat in that episode.
It really was sad, because Rory is smart and can think for herself, and it was as if she was invalidating Rory's intelligence. She had to be humbled.
As flawed as Emily was, she always wanted her girls in her life. She fought for that relationship. And while she was never perfect, I’ll always respect her for fighting to be in her girls’ lives.
These two are too iconic for words.
#Fact
While I think Lorelei was a great mom and an all around amazing woman, and I totally understand her issues with her parents, they were actually there for her through thick and thin regardless. I don’t think it was unreasonable for Emily to ask that they visit once a week and update her on their lives.
She was absolutely not a great mom
Emily going in on Shira LOL
Gypsy 😂😂😂. "I'm paying you", "okay, I look again" 😂
this is where i escape from harsh reality life
The main characters are emily and richard always. 😂😂. Emily is a powerhouse character
God this is so well written and acted. I absolutely love this show. There's nothing that compares to the complex dialogue, silliness and heartfelt moments.
The Knick knack relocation is so funny 😂 I totally would be the type to notice like Emily did.
I would be the type to notice months or years later, and wonder what happened to that...
@@violettippet5246 lol that is so endearing! 😊
Emily & Richard weren't perfect, but my God, you can't question their love.
Even if they go about it poorly or with misguided intentions.
Also, drunk Emily is my favorite Emily.
Thank you for this compilation. As I get older I find myself drawn to Emily's and Richard's point of view as well as Lorelai's relationship with them. I'm happy they were able to heal it towards the end of the series.
Richard snapped on Strobe, I loved it and I hate when people talk crazy to somebody then act surprised when they get snatched up.
😂😂😂Dean is so in over his head 😂. I would not be letting my child into that car either. Emotions are the beginning of downfall
Oh impossible, I need to lie down 😂😂. Me too sometimes
Poor puppy freezing half to death 😮
Emily is the spitting image of my mom. She was a forever Narcissist too.
I can't believe I watched the whole thing.
Emily s🪛c 🪛r🪛e🪛w🪛 youuuu😂😂😂😂
I don't care what others think of certain characters, I loved this show. I even bought the whole series in a DVD pack. Yes, I said "DVD".
I freaking love Gypsy XD She reminds me of Chico Marx
35:24 I think apologies from Emily to Beatrix would have been more appropriate actually...
She's been intolerably rude to her maid suspecting her of stealing items for no reason whatsoever just because she's a person of lower status .
Lorelai is very wrong!! Yes Rory has been pinning for Harvard for many years. But it doesn't necessarily mean she'll get accepted by Harvard. There's no guarantee even how smart you are. Every high school student knows you have to apply to several universities as back up. Since Lorelai didn't graduate high school because she got pregnant at 16, she doesn't know these things.
That's not a valid excuse, it's basic common sense, you don't apply to one school cause if you're rejected you're screwed, but Lorelei thinks her kid is too special to be rejected
I don't think it's about backups. It's about how her father bamboozled the two earlier with the meeting with the Dean. And how they have a pattern of pushing their will on others. Lorelei struggles with figuring out what is and isn't manipulated by her parents and this is one of those instances where she isn't sure so she assumes the worst cause historically she has been right to assume the worst.
seriously Lorelei comes off as so blatantly out of touch it's like she doesn't even Know what Harvard is
@@snooze6650Lorelei is a strong, independent feminist who don't need no Harvard!!! 😂😂
33:19 what is that she gave her
Lmao wolf girl 58:56
Might not be a popular opinion but NEVER liked Christopher and never understood what his parents were pissed about he still could have gone to Princeton and i never understood the hate for Richard and Emily they did everything they could for the girls
Dance ten, looks three!
43:43 Why does Richard look like that? I can't interpret his face expression? Has something happened?
It's because he realized Rory had become some sort of socialite like Emily, participating in society and organizing events and he doesn't respect that. He and emily have a fight soon after because of that.
54:14 this is my favourite scene!
I think Emily and Richard house changed later
I`m sorry but they were very toxic to their daughter and granddaughter. This wasn't charming, this was actual mental abuse at some points. I guess I liked the show like everyone else but looking back this was hard to watch at times.
Making them come to dinner to pay for college and holding money over their heads and that speech Richard gave Lorely about her rnuning away at 16 instead of actually taking accountability for their awful parenting.
Not very good parents.
I so agree with you! Having had a controlling mom I can empathize with loralai. The only difference is got married at 18 and wasn't pregnant.
they're never practical.
"You need money."
"You need money."
"You need money."
No, Richard, Lorelei doesn't need money. She's a strong, independent feminist who doesn't need her mean old family money. Down with the patriarchy and all that. Lol.
Well she did need money
Imagine being made out to be a villain because you want your only child to embrace hypergamy and not carry before she marries. Imagine being the bad guys because you want her to be with a provider who loves and protects her.
Feminism has ultimately betrayed a lot of women. There is nothing romantic about struggle and rebellion.
Protects her from whom? Men don't protect. My ex was in the army. When a flock pf pigeons scared him, and he didn't know what they were, he used me as a human shield. A man has NEVER protected me ever. Do go on about how policeofficers protect me. Not true. By the time they come around the crime has a;lready been commited. They didn't protect me. The army protects me from other armies? Thanks. Men have never protected me and if they did, it would be from thesmselves? Women have protected me from men, men have never. So the only thing you're good for is providing? In hunter gatherer days gatheres got 80% of the food source, and agriculture has mainly been female. Also we can provide for ourselves. Aren't we golddigers for expecting you to do your one job? Also they don't want their daughter to practice hyergamy, they want her to practice endogamy which is what people have been mainly practicing for centuries. Hypergamy, and hypogamy is actually quite rare, so rare in fact, it is notable when done. Im not saying single motherhood is a good thing. But you all need to get over yourselves.Hypergamy has never seemed to work out for the women who have participated. They usually get left for a younger woman, within 12 years. Also most single mothers are not single by choice. It's because the man left. Men have tried to convince themselves that they are sooo relevant...THey are, but yall aren't as important as you think.
@@violettippet5246 What on earth does your trauma have to do with men being protectors and providers? Your experience isn't normal - that's the point. Men of this society are messed up but that's not normal. Emily and Richard wanted Lorelei with a fellow blue blood. The problem with the GG fanDUMB is that most of them have no clue how the blue bloods move. They're broke common folk who don't understand the rules of engagement of the super wealthy.
Why not just admit that Lorelei is a rebel? I mean......🤔🤔 What's so awful in admitting that Lorelei's a rebel who rejects her family's values? She rejects her family's values but not their coin. She's a rebel, hypocrite and terrible mother.
Lorelei's actions have nothing to do with feminism or not wanting to be with a man. She dates, and gets engaged to several men throughout the series, so she's clearly not against marriage. She wanted independence from her parents first and foremost. The reason she didn't marry Christopher is because she was tired of her parents making decisions for her. She's no more of a "feminist" than Emily is.
@@queencleopatra007 Rory LITERALLY calls Lorelai a feminist in the very first episode.
The gruesome twosome can't live with men. Ain't no way. #BabyMamaProgramming
Imagine your parents not respecting your opinion and force you to go one way or another with your life and you are never heard for how you feel. And for them to look down upon your lifestyle just because it does not fit the uniform life template of the upper class. Feminism is not about rejecting a lifestyle, any lifestyle, it is giving women the choice to embrace whatever path she may choose. Married or unmarried, my fair lady or erin brokovich… it’s really that woman’s call and no one else’s.
Two of the most disgusting and deplorable characters ever on tv! Every time they appeared on screen they completely ruined the show!
You really looked at Emily and thought this character and the acting for her is the worst of television and what ruins the show for you? Is Paris like your most despised character in television history as well?
@@ReginaGeorgeSlay-my8fg Paris was annoying as well, but at least came around d to be a little funny. The grand parents were absolutely unwatchable, conservative , deplorable scum!
You wanna watch shows where everyone is nice and gets along all the time? How stupid are you? Emily and Richard made that show what it was
I used to think so. Now I think Emily is one of the best things in the whole show.
Sheesh, it's a tv show and all of the characters are flawed, which is part of why the show is still rewatchable. If you hate the characters so much you probably shouldn't have watched the video...
This video has so many great scenes in it!!! Difficult not to love this show.
