Speaking as a New Zealander, where Faf is known more often as "that little a-hole" or "not him again", I have to admit I really enjoy watching him play. Not only can he read the game like nobody else, he's what us Kiwis and Aussies call "a fart in a bottle". In the unlikely event he appears to be standing still, you can see him looking around for where everybody is and where he needs to put the ball, and he's coiled to spring into action. I hate it, but I love it at the same time. Oh, btw -- that wee pat on Itoje's shoulder after being flattened for the third or fourth time is good sportsmanship combined with "I've got your number, son, and I'll be ringing it soon." Classic.
I love your channel I'm south african and started playing rugby from 7 years old. I just watched your rugby respect video and got emotional every second. Please watch a video on south african schoolboy hits. You'll see 17 year olds taking and making huge hits. Other reaction channels always say people who play rugby don't care about their lives taking big hits like that but they don't understand that it's a passion inside that you just can't explain. But I see you genuinely love rugby culture.
Hey Coach, just happened to stumble on this - great watch thanks. Just thought I'd let you know (if you didn't already know) that the Rugby Championship is coming up in August between the 4 major teams of the Southern Hemisphere - South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and Argentina. Should be a great watch for you. Think first matchday is on 14 August between South Africa and Argentina. Also you have the Springboks against the British & Irish Lions coming up this Saturday (31 July) and again on 07 Aug. Plenty for you to watch. Enjoy. :)
Thank you for your refreshing videos. If you are interested in the history of rugby you have to go back in time when this sport was not professional and thus, understand the state of mind which reigned at that time. As a Frenchman, I will speak about my country but this truth applies to Europe and, who has not known the third half, the férias of Dax, Béziers, Bayonnes cannot understand the state of mind of rugby. We have our heroes, Jean Pierre Rives who bled so many times on the field, the Camberabero family, Serge Blanco, Fouroux, Champ, the late Christophe Dominici, all of them have rocked my youth and have inscribed this state of mind that is rugby. "Rugby is a holligans'sport played by gentlemen", beautiful definition.
Thank you coach. I really hope this sport will atract more players and supporters in the USA. I have seen posts on RUclips some institutions in the USA will not allow students to play rugby. Can you give us some more on that please or is this just a rumor?
When we play drinking games watching rugby. We play a game whereby you have to drink if your player's number you pulled out of the hat touches the ball. If you pull number 9 out of the hat, the scrumhalf's number, book your bed into hospital the next morning. The scrumhalf starts the play from 90% of the breakdowns, they are the generals making the decisions together with the flyhalf.
I have not watched all your reaction videos to rugby. But I can tell from your reaction that I think you might be falling in love with the game of rugby the way we are. Its a game of intense passion that we all played from a young age. And when 14 men might be feeling a bit worse for wear, it takes one thing to get them going. Be it a player, the crowd, an incident and then the train gets going. Ohh and boy o boy, then there is no stopping us. Always wonder if you get that same feeling from watching american football. Looks like you appreciate the game we love and thst warms my heart
I watched this game with the family and friends. Everyone was pissed of at half time. I kept on saying "We're taking this in the second half". Needless to say there were many "I told you so's " afterwards.
0:55 yall also ahve a team called the lions? Fun fact its one of the local teams in South Africa (we have a similar thing to Americas NFL with local teams from each province)
Hope you watched the Bokke vs All Black game last week. Some incredible rugby from both sides. Some amazing skills. Do yourself a favour. That was champagne rugby. #bloodisgreen #Bokke
Like many I was supporting South Africa in 1995 World Cup. They are currently the most successful country and current World Champions from 2019. There is alot of History and other great countries New Zealand, Australia, in the Southern Hemisphere in the Northern Hemisphere France and Ireland are one of the best teams currently in the world.
If you want just a game about not giving up until the final minute with plenty of heartbreak. Look at the 2019 Scotland v England game from Six Nations. Rollercoaster of emotions!
To respond to the question asked at the end wrt Faff’s contribute to the Boks win, I think he did play an important role in mobilising their comeback and a great deal of the following action. But, rugby is a team sport and as each position is critical to the outcome. A scrum half is a very visible position, more so than a front row forward, whose actions are critical if Faf is going to get the ball. Faf was brilliant in this game in that he sparked the other players to also lift their play.

Sorry, I comment a lot, but rugby is a hot topic. That's why I'm so excited to watch your videos. You who seem to appreciate De Klerk and South Africa have you seen the movie "Invictus"? It is what it is, but it shows the evolution of an old world that finds itself and shares where, I would not say thanks to, but through whom South African society has found a point of reconciliation. Rugby is more than a sport, it is political and historical.
Coach, you must watch the 1995 semifinal between SA and France in Durban SA. They nearly drowned. How SA won is a miracle. France came within 6 inches of winning the game.
I have often thought that if "Faf de Klerk", were to be an animal, he would be an "African Honey Badger" ! For those who do not know of this diminutive creature from the African savannah grasslands, one can almost be forgiven for chuckling at little animals shuffling gate and cute appearance. But do not be fooled, for under the comical small exterior, there is a tenacious and ferocious, fearless courage, that is enough to make even the so called "king" of African Wildlife a fully grown Lion, treat the African Honey Badger with the utmost, wary respect..!! Long may the inimitable "Faf" continue to contribute his amazing all round skills to South African Rugby.
South African won today (7 Aug) the test series [2-1] against the British & Irish Lions. A well deserved victory. And Cheslin Kolbe was that very same spark in the 3rd game. Now for the All Blacks, Wallabies and Pumas end of the year.
So when those other words appeared over the game play that is actually what the commentator is saying and it is highlighted because the commentator is referring to Faf de Klerk.
Hey Coach. I'm sure you're aware but the Lions tour of South Africa is just about to start! The Lions are a combined team of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland and alternate tours of Australia, New Zealand and SA every four years. The series are always epic, and I'd definitely recommend tuning in if you want to see the best of world rugby over the next month or so!
The incredible comeback? You should see the Springbok game against the ABs where they were docked 50-0 in Wellington then they get humiliated in SA by the ABs with a 15- 56 lost & Faf was their halfback it a team sport bro.
OMG...i know this is an older clip from you Coach...but, the thing about this game you are watching here...and Rugby in general...is the Nuance...Its not just 30 men running at full speed into each other, there is soo much snap decision making going on, on and off the ball. an example of the Nuance you are missing in this game, is when Faf takes the quick tap for the penalty, and gets tackled to the ground by Maro Itoje resulting in The referee awarding another penalty...Faf taps Maro Itoje on the shoulder and To the innocent observer, this looks like good sportsmanship...but to the players, both Faf and Maro, and the Rugby fanatics some of us are... Faf is basically saying "Thanks buddy...thanks for f-ing up, we going to go for 3 points now." Faf sees Maro, quick taps the penalty and runs right next to him before he has fallen back 10m...knowing that it would be too irresistable for Maro to tackle him...thus giving away another penalty, The result is England has to fall back another 10m, and the Springboks have a shot at the goal posts for 3 points.
