At 7:20 where the American says he’s just playing around. It’s a very important thing in our game to get near the posts. It means that the kicker gets to kick from a smaller angle therefore securing a definite two point conversion
If you want to look at a small player who never give up and is probably one of the best player in the world right now, check Antoine Dupont. Fun fact, Dupont does play at Faf De Klerk position in Chelsin Kolbe team !
The place that the try is made on the field is the line that the kicker has to kick from to convert the try - so he wasn't just fooling on the opponents, but making a conversion much easier. As for the last clip - you actually have to touch the pitch to score a try, and de Clerke's tackle was SO GOOD that he prevented the opponent player from scoring at all.
We are said to have a sense of sheer "bastardry"... Lets say if a fight broke out in a bar with any rugby team... You'd want to be wearing green and gold with a little gazelle on...
You can watch them in one of the greatest spectacles of rugby the lions tour. The earliest tours date back to 1888, when a 21-man squad visited Australia and New Zealand. The squad drew players from England, Scotland and Wales, though English players predominated. Played every 12 years! epic!
The place that they touch the ball down in the end zone gives the position to be used for the conversion kick which follows the tri , thus it’s better when the placement is near the posts giving a short direct kick
Respectfully I think Americans need to understand rugby is not football. Size isn't everything. This is why rugby is the great sport it is. Size doesn't matter, it's the players skills that do.
When it looks like Cheslin just playing when he goes for the try, he not the closer he gets the try to the poles, the easier it is for the flyhalf to convert which is another 2 points...so that's for an easier kick
Those 2 are legends in South Africa, Chestlin Kolbe pronounced Chest-lyn Coal-bee and Faf de Klerk- Fuf da Clerk, are just always fun to watch and together they just make the Springboks awesome
By the way, he wasn't playing with them he was trying to gret the ball as near as he could to the goal. The conversion kick that comes from a try is placed in line with where the ball was touched down
If you do want to watch them play.. they are currently playing for the springboks in the rugby championship and faf de klerk plays for the sale sharks in the uk
At 7:21 he is not playing around ! He is trying to score the try as close as possible in the end zone to the center line to ensure a better chance for the extra points kick !
In the upcoming 2-3 weeks or so South Africa is playing the British and Irish lions and Cheslin and Faf will be playing and it will be very interesting to watch.
Coach, several folk have already mentioned the British & Irish Lions tour of South Africa, which is coming up soon. You should read up on the history and background of the B&I Lions. These tours only happen once every 4 years; so they are a HUGE thing for all players and fans. The Lions will rotate the country that they tour. South Africa or Australia or New Zealand. For many players this is a once in a career opportunity to be part of rugby history. It's SPECIAL.
The series were brutally fought and won. The were very controversial during apartheid. Having RSA and Mandela host the RWC and a home victory was huge but to have a squad captained by a black player in 2019 was epic. Cheslin and Faf both played on this squad.
Love both these players. They'll be in action together for the springboks vs the British and Irish lions this summer if you're interested in a good watch. Its a traditional series where every 4 years the 3 British nations and Ireland team up and tour Australia, then nz, then sa etc so we the boks only get to play them every 12 years. One of the biggest events in rugby
If you like these guys - who are indeed great - then check out also DMac (Damian McKenzie) from New Zealand and Antoine Dupont from France. And there's also Shane Williams now retired. But most scrum-halves are pretty short and there's no shortage of highlights of these little feckers!
These two come from a lineage of small players started by a guy called Danie Craven who played the same position as Faf de Klerk does but back in the 1930's when Rugby was a much rougher game. some other small players to carry the tradition, Divan Serfontein, and then of course Christian Cullen of New Zealand.
BTW he wasn't playing around - the closer you dot down to the poles, the closer, straighter and easier the conversion kick mark is given. So the try scorers try to dot down under the poles if they can.
My father, who was a professional Rugby player for over 20 years, told me that it doesn't matter how big they are, none of them can run if you tackle them round the legs. Personally I always went for their hips, then slid down to below knee height. Prevent them from taking a stride and they are going nowhere.
Yes!! The the Springboks knew this especially against Lomu..just tap the ankles..easier said than done I will admit but yeah knees and ankles was the way to go...
Your timing is good as the British ^ Irish Lions are touring South Africa this summer watch the games live, hitch up with a bunch of online fans over zoom and get some running commentary and live action info. could be an idea.
You should take a look at 'Nick Abendanon smashed by the Tuilagi brothers' - a bit like this video, Abendanon is a (relatively) small guy and just shook off hit after hit throughout this match. Not seen anyone else react to it before!
Last clip with Faf de Klerk in blue, not mentioned, what Faf achieved was prevent the green player grounding the ball after crossing the try line, he got under the ball making it unplayable.
Joost van der veshaisen (spell check lol) used to take out Jonah Lomu one on one. That was something to behold. There was a reason Lomu couldn't score a try against SA.
I was 5ft 6.5in, 10 stone and could usually beat most players over 100 yards. Zero to full speed in a few paces and a good sidestep. I played wing, centre, flanker and occasionally half back. Being so short allowed me to get under the fend of the big guys, dig my heels in and use their weight to bring them down, and from behind I tackled around the ankles. I found the smaller guys the hardest to tackle. Another person to check out is Christian Cullen from New Zealand.
Both these players will be in action the next couple of weeks in one of the toughest tournaments in Rugby union. British Irish Lions against the world champions, South African Springboks. Both these players play for South Africa. If want to to see epic brutal, and skilful rugby, watch this tournament being hosted in South Africa.

You can watch them in one of the greatest spectacles of rugby the lions tour. The earliest tours date back to 1888, when a 21-man squad visited Australia and New Zealand. The squad drew players from England, Scotland and Wales, though English players predominated. Played every 12 years! epic!
I believe the word is tenacious.
Also moving towards the posts isn't just playing around, it allows for an easier shot for the conversion.
The place that they touch the ball down in the end zone gives the position to be used for the conversion kick which follows the tri , thus it’s better when the placement is near the posts giving a short direct kick
Watched that Faf De Klerk put him to bed
Watch the RWC between SA and England. Excellent scrums, it has everything and faf is very busy! The whole match is amazing.
You should also watch Rob Burrow and Chris Sandow Highlights from UK and AU rubgy league. Not big men but fast and hard hitting!
Respectfully I think Americans need to understand rugby is not football. Size isn't everything. This is why rugby is the great sport it is. Size doesn't matter, it's the players skills that do.
Absolutely that's why I love this sport
Love blondies super emotive hair.
They are both small, but mighty
CJ Stander was told he'd never play for South Africa because he was too small. Well, he played beautifully for Ireland and won everything...
Let's hope that old school stupid mentality doesn't return...
Don't forget Duhan, old Akkers brother who did a good showing in the lions tour
On this particular subject look for clips with Jason Robinson, old England player, of both League and Union. Not called Billy Whizz for nothing.
You should check out Shane Williams the ultimate little man. World Player of the Year 2013.....magic
You should watch ''England's greatest ever winger? Jason Robinson's world-class rugby moments' his nickname was Billy Whizz
Awe to al my South Africans
Cheslin Kolbe is the Kyrie Irving of rugby.
That last video is beast…he was stopping a try by the other team
Our Springboks are magic, no matter their size!💚💛
If you like these guys - who are indeed great - then check out also DMac (Damian McKenzie) from New Zealand and Antoine Dupont from France. And there's also Shane Williams now retired. But most scrum-halves are pretty short and there's no shortage of highlights of these little feckers!
Shane was told he would not play for Wales because of his size. 50 international tries later he’s at the top of Wales all time scorers.
Does coach still do reactions with his wife? They are hilarious together
Yes on our main channel. ruclips.net/channel/UCE2uPgySl83dCoZISO8ybag
@@CoachTube CHECK USA AND SOUTHAFRICA IN RUBY WORLD CUP 2015 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂 You mis that one
I appreciate you linking to my cousin's original video and enjoyed watching your reactions 🙂
They’re both still playing. In great form
Faf de Klerk always reminds me of the little tank that could.
These two come from a lineage of small players started by a guy called Danie Craven who played the same position as Faf de Klerk does but back in the 1930's when Rugby was a much rougher game. some other small players to carry the tradition, Divan Serfontein, and then of course Christian Cullen of New Zealand.
Dr klerk, very fundamental, especially when passing the ball.
As a South African when he said their name I got triggered but much love..That is why we are number 1
Was going to say the same. More heart than any other player I've seen. He took a pounding through the whole match, just sucked it up and played on.
Springboks are super awesome 🇿🇦🏆🇿🇦 World champions
I was 5ft 6.5in, 10 stone and could usually beat most players over 100 yards. Zero to full speed in a few paces and a good sidestep. I played wing, centre, flanker and occasionally half back. Being so short allowed me to get under the fend of the big guys, dig my heels in and use their weight to bring them down, and from behind I tackled around the ankles. I found the smaller guys the hardest to tackle. Another person to check out is Christian Cullen from New Zealand.
They might be small by Rugby standards but they demand massive respect.
