My father was a Presbyterian and my mother a Roman Catholic (I’m American). I went to a funeral at an Anglican church a few years ago and yes, they are pretty much Catholics. I was very surprised.

I got into a temporary spot of bother as a teen when I called Cromwell a f***ing ar**hole during a history lesson. Luckily, I was given the opportunity to tell the rest of the class why. I explained how and why 2 of my ancestors lost Estates, one in Ireland on my Grandmother's side and the other in the north of England on my Grandfather's side. I also pointed out that even after being ousted, the harassment and persecution continued and the hideous things that Cromwell's forces did in Ireland. I wasn't frog marched to the Headmaster's office after that, wonder why.....🤣🤣🤣

Come visit New Zealand no snakes or large predators.. a couple of bitey spiders but they not all over (and are unwanted Aussie imports for the most part)

I'd love to know my ancestry but there'd be nothing interesting there - well, I'd find a series of mill workers, housemaids and probably the odd "lady of ill repute" interesting but nobody else would. Managed to get mine back to the 19th Century but only because I knew my Great Grandmother (I was 25 when she died) although I did find out her mother was a bit of "wrong 'un" and it explained her very puritanical attitude to sex before marriage.

As for the birds, I'm on Long Island & our seagulls here are rather tame. Have you ever had an encounter with a wild turkey? DON'T GET ME STARTED! They're literally pterodactyls. Terrors that fly from the trees with razor-sharp claws & beaks. There's nothing more terrifying than being chased through the woods by a gang of wild turkeys ready to shred you to pieces.

As an American teen, I can remember being confused by how there were protestant movements like Cromwell when Henry the 8th made England protestant.
My mom explained that the Church of England was 95 percent Catholic.....but I really didn't understand how overly simplified what I had been taught was until I was in my thirties.
Likewise what we all think "castle" actually means over here......I had that wrong until my thirties as well....
