Trying to do everything to keep prices low, yet continue to increase profits. Crooks.
Your right!!
Who is going to change Santa????
Boycott Trudeau and Singh 😏😏
You do realize if both parties were just one party they would be the government if polls are correct.
@@professorakiba434you do realize that’s not how it works.
Keep waiting. In the meantime here’s a tissue for you. Keep crying.
@@jumbome7420 -- what is a "coalition government", wino
Ha! As if. You can't stop dreaming about them for 2 seconds.
Inflation is caused by terrible government policies. Jag meats brother works for metro foods.
38 billion..... They aren't worried nor care. Maybe the government can help them out again.
And that's the problem right there...38 billion! When is enough enough?
???? Loblaws net profit was 2billion in 2023 on 60billion in revenue. Out of that net profit, Loblaws has to pay out 0.65billion in dividends. Typically pension funds and mutual funds pick up that type of stock. Loblaws forecasts a spend of over 2 billion to open new stores since the population base has been expanded by Trudeau. Obviously they will have to sell more shares. What 38billion are you talking about.
All Canadians should boycott the Federal Carbon Tax
If you don't support cap and trade then what are you going to replace it with?
@seanwebb605 what's your obsession with being taxed for simply existing
@@Sebastian-wz1wh That's complete nonsense.
The Year Long Metro boycott needs to begin right now as well. Let Jagmeet's brother explain to his boss why their profits are down this year.
I stopped shopping at Loblaws grocery outlets.
Grocery stores aren't behind inflation. This will accomplish nothing.
If they put up the prices then they are part of it. What do you think is the main cause of inflation?
@@johnhart3480 TAXES
@@johnhart3480 Margins. You have to talk about the margins. If it simply costs more for the products you shouldn't be surprised that the retail prices increase. Have their margins increased significantly?
@@seanwebb605 All price increases no matter the cause contribute to inflation.
@@frankreid9354 Yes, taxes are a contributing factor, no need to shout.
Canada needs to make sure no companies own more than 30% of the market unless it's a crown corporation.
lol
Maybe Canadians need to start considering how our free trade deals with Asia have impacted the prices of our food? I can tell you our food hasn't gotten cheaper since we started selling to Asia.
lol yea that’s false. The blame lays on the government that brought in a liberal carbon tax
Food is a heavily manipulated industry. Subsidies in both directions are common (subsidy for farmer and for wholesaler and for retailer).
Then you have your choke points. Grocery stores, goods producers, importers ... all parties with room to affect the markets we all eat from. All of whom get to profit.
Free-trade with the USA hasn't been of much benefit, either
Liberal carbon tax
I get the best deals at Asian grocers.
Not buying at Loblaws, shoppers drug mart etc.
Make a real difference. Boycott gas stations...
It isn't just loblaws I work across country the food prices in every grocery store is ridiculous
Does this include the pharmacy?
Yes
Loblaws is wayyy cheaper than 95% of other grocery stores.
That’s what I said. They’re just going to end up paying more at others stores. 😂 Idiots:)
Save on foods, walmart, no frills are deffintetly cheaper. Especially walmart but their quality is hit or miss.
This is the most ridiculous boycott I've seen. If you don't like the prices there..go someplace else. What about Sobeys and Metro..they're even more expensive. Why nor boycott them.
The real reason is that profits are based on margin. If an item costs 1$ to get to the store and sell (Item cost/wages/capital expenses) and they mark it up 100% (profit) they make a dollar. If the same item inflates to say 2 dollars to bring in and sell and they keep the same margin they make 2 dollars of profit. Not saying its right or wrong, I've managed retail before and that's how it generally works. Loblaws does not want to reduce their margins so they make more money. This is how things like Carbon tax and price fixing (Feds set prices many on food items and ingredients like eggs and milk) and general de-industrialization concentrate to make this happen, and Loblaws seems content to make the extra cash. I've noticed Wal-Marts prices got significantly lower the last couple weeks on many items esp. meat.
interesting
Grocery store markups are 20% to 30% depending on the chain.
@@markskids2030 yea I know. was using round and easy numbers to make the basic math and logic clear as possible.
Make sure u weight the meat with self serve weigh scales, u might be in for a surprise, either its invisible air they added to pkg to weigh more or someone in the pkg and pricing dept needs to be fired. Deception runs deep.
@@markskids2030definitely more than 20-30% mark up.
If they make no profits they cease to exist. Whadd-ya want GOVERNMENT grocery stores?
JR
Are we doing this with Sobeys too?
@@WildMan576 Walmart is worse than all other grocers COMBINED! ;D
Loblaws prices are just about the highest out there. However they have some great specials. Shop smart!
I'm still going to shop there.
Loser
I personally think they are taking advantage of pricing certain if not most items higher than they likely should be. Sometimes certain items are on sale and priced accordingly for today's normal market but Loblaws is definitely price gauging on many many items. I'm all for the boycott
Butter in sale Flipp online flyer ,at Loblaws , $8.49. In Ottawa..
$4.99 at Sobeys..
During their boycott, like the CEO cares.
You are just going to make the Grocery lay-off it’s employees.......if they are not selling groceries then they will start layoffs logically.
It's market season. Galen can ride a high hard one.
Not just lawblaws
Groceries are expensive everywhere. We, in Manitoba, have had an extremely dry winter, so farmers are taking a hit. It is supply & demand.
what choice do you have in small towns...
Lots of
Sobeys for me. A lady who sells van produce might be back in town soon.
Loblaws is the cheapest grocer in my town BY FAR. I shopped there today, and 90% of the time. Best grocer ever .. BUT it is Superstore not 'Loblaws' like you have back east. They make their big money on drusg and clothes not food.
They bought out all the competitors so they can set prices. Smart 4 them
It is a low margin industry. Have the margins increased significantly? Not much else really matters if you are pointing the finger at grocers for increased prices.
I am in.
If Loblaws were still in QC, I'd go all month-long; if everyone boycotts them, it means easy to navigate aisles and short checkout lines 😄
Maxi is owned by loblaw
It’s a wonderful Monopoly. 😂
Hot Air Pierre and the Cons don’t want competition coming into Canada’s grocery market to lower prices. Trudeau challenged little pp in the HoC on this 3x and he never denied it.
the former deputy-chief-of-staff to Canada's former Conservative PM Stephen Harper (and current staffer for ON-PC premier Doug Ford) is a Loblaws lobbyist
Yet, Trudeau has never actually answered a question in the hoc when challenged.
But, that’s okay…
Make sure u weight the meat with self serve weigh scales, u might be in for a surprise, either its invisible air they added to pkg to weigh more or someone in the pkg and pricing depth needs to be fired. Deception runs deep.
Report it to Weights and Measures Canada.
Did you vote liberal? Then you voted for this.
It is supply & demand!
Well ok but Lowblaws is still the cheapest game in town so all the idiots boycotting are just going to end up paying more for their groceries now. 😂
Trucking rates have fallen over 20% in the last month alone. Food prices? They are still sky high.
Let’s see what happens if we extend the boycott over a few more months
Make it year long, never go back. Spread this around the world so everyone knows to avoid these stores.
Finally
There is no price change for loblaws supplier. Buy cheap from growers sell very high price . Some products are 500% markup price for end buyers 🎉

How about just go do all of your shopping in the United States instead? Their inflation is at an all time low.
You might want to think that over. Where are you getting your numbers?

Capitalism is destroying this country I used to love.
You know that prior to capitalism, Canada was an imperialist country. So I dont know what time period you are from, but you want to go back to imperial colonism instead?
Corporate Capitalism and wealth hoarders insatiable GREED.
Fully agreed. More folks think like you and I do every day.
Canada has NEVER had Capitalism. Capitalism actually works well (if the government would just stop meddling in it). We have Quasi-Capitalism, it means the government has to stick their nose in everything to screw up the markets, instead of just letting the markets work on their own.
