I absolutely loved the scene where Banner wipes the mirror and Hulk is on the other side. I feel like it did a great job with showing the relationship between Banner and the Hulk. Like a distance that neither Banner or the Hulk wanted to confront.
Actually, to be fair, in the old show and in most comic books, Bruce hulks out when he experiences extreme emotions, like rage, hollowing sadness, crushing stress, or filing-taxes-frustation. It's not just anger. It's really just whatever makes him upset.

This movie constantly reminds us that Ang Lee directed "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon". And it also reminds me of Nick Nolte's mugshot. Which still makes me laugh.
People always seem to ask "What the hell happened in the final fight between Bruce and David?" I always thought that Hulk, being a source of unending rage-energy, simply overloaded David and he lost ability to control his powers, absorbed the water and became one giant drop of liquid. Overall, I liked this movie better than the next one. At the very least, 2003 Hulk tried to show that Hulk (not Banner, Hulk) is more than a monster. And "Hulk" scenes in this one were great too. Although, it lacked almost mandatory "HULK *verb that implies destruction*" line.
Mister K In the Hulk, that exactly what happened. Hulk overloaded David. Norton's "Incredible Hulk" was a bit cartoony for me. The Hulk looked too fake. I know it's not the popular opinion, but I enjoy this "Hulk" film quite a bit. Even more than Marvel's own "Incredible Hulk." Yes, seeing the non-stop "Hulk smash" moments was fun in the new film, but it got a little too lazy imo towards the end and took the easy "cliche action film" route too often. I like that this film tried to do something different... it's a more cerebral film about what makes the Hulk "tick", and the imagery was absolutely beautiful. (It's more about what makes the Hulk want to smash moreso than the actual "Hulk Smash!" moments) Yes, it has it's problems, but it felt like a lot more personality, tlc and thought was put into this film. This felt more like an art and passion project than a standard film. I understand that it's not for everyone (and again, I will admit it's flawed)... but sue me, this is MY "Hulk" movie. (Although I'm hoping that if we get a Mark Ruffalo stand-alone film, it will exceed my expectations, because Ruffalo is my favorite Banner/Hulk by far.)
MaximumMadnessStixon both of the previous Hulk movies draw their influence from the Incredible Hulk television series from the 80's. For example, Bruce's dad in the first Hulk move is named David. David was Bruce's name in the 80's televison series, David Bruce Banner. Ang Lee's Hulk also drew influence from ideas that were brewing in the comic books about Bruce's dysfunctional relationship with his abusive father in relationship to his mom. In Ang Lee's "Hulk" they tried to explore why Bruce was so angry in the first place. The other thing was in their introducing the nanites that explains why Bruce survived the gamma radiation exposure. But I think it was poorly executed. Over all, I give Ang Lee's "Hulk" the benefit of the doubt because this was the first time this kind of thing was attempted. Norton's Hulk was the second attempt. Then third times the charm with Ruffalo's Banner/Hulk in AVENGERS. I think they got it right.
Absolutely agree, this movie has many flaws but I admire that they tried something new and honestly like it more than the 08' reboot and that design for hulk is IMHO still the best ever.
AnimeFreakazoid99 I think it's a combination of different factors, not the least of which being it not was the sort-of "Hulk" film people expected or necessarily wanted. When people hear "Hulk", they think of a monster going wild and smashing everything in sight. This film had those moments on occasion, but was more about a cerebreal character-story and went out of it's way to be a more artistic tale using the Hulk as a storytellng device more than anything.
Ramin Fateh haha. I was thinking the same thing. I was a kid when this came out too and I was mind blown when the Hulk came on screen and smashed everything.
This movie is amazing. The CGI is better than some movies these days and the story and hulk looks and acts much more better and intelligently in this one.
Even for the time the CGI is just ok. Incredible Hulk comes out 5 years later and has much better CGI. I don't know why people try and make out the CGI in this is great but it clearly just isn't. Just because it was made before the MCU doesn't make it impressive.
***** I disagree, I really liked how he worked solo in The Incredible Hulk. What makes Bruce interesting and different from other heroes is that he doesn't really want his powers and is always trying to find a cure. He also has great villains that I wish we'd see in the MCU (I'd like to see Abomination make a return).
Tawhid Chowdhury Why is that anyway? Did Ruffalo not want to make a standalone Hulk movie? Or does Marvel think they established the character enough...with the two other Hulk movies that Avengers didn't even acknowledge.
This movie is known for it's use comic book panel scenes. X Men First Class is the second film use this effect. I wish the other Marvel films and DC films would use comic book panel shots.
@@khayree7929 Its too profound and psychological to be an Hulk movie, that's the problem, people didn't like it cuz they expected something else, like The Incredible Hulk, and that's pretty self explanatory i think............
Ettore Nardelli based on what I seen apparently they just like when it’s only hulk and not banner smashing things despite hulk having a much deeper story
I like to think of TIH as an unofficial sequel to this film as one of the first Banner lines (if not the first) was basically “Don’t make me [angry], you won’t like me when I’m [angry].”
***** Which he is, but he's also a big green giant that smashes things. Hulk doesn't stop to consider his place in the universe or contemplate what brought him to his current situation, Bruce Banner does.
You mean the CGI? Given the time this movie came out the CGI used in this was ahead it's time in my opinion. The Avengers hulk looks terrible to me and actually looks no better than the 2003 one... and I still prefer the 2003 hulk compared to the rest which is 13 years old lol
The fuck are you talking about? The Hulk from "The Avengers" is OBJECTIVELY better looking. They had a much larger budget and far better CGI technology. The Hulk from the 2003 movie looked like a toy made from bright green melted crayons. There's not even room for an opinion here, unless your opinion is that you like shittier looking things?
I had a lot of issues with this movie from the story to the Hulk and how it ends but saying all that I loved the movie as it was fun and the unique comic panels was a standout
The CGI and animation were so much better and realistic in this one than in that horrible 2008 movie, which looked like a cheap cartoon. The scene with Hulk escaping the metal pod with water is especially great.
Swooping Bears You must be kidding. The Hulk in this movie looked like a bad joke drawn by a 5 year old. Everything from his face to body shape and especially that horrible shade of green. The 2008 movie is superior in every way.
Lance I'm talking about technology, not about the "shade of green". 2008 is widely known for its tremendously bad CGI. Considering 5 years gap between the movies, 2003 is obviously the better made one.
I started watching this when I was really little. It never scared me, I understood everything that was going on, the one scene I couldn’t stand watching is the scene where hulk fights genetic evil dogs, and the only thing that scared me was the play menu.
Sad and confused can also lead to hulking out. While anger is the default emotion leading to becoming the Hulk, it's not the only emotion that can lead to morphing. Jeremy must not remember the intro in the original Incredible Hulk.
Ok, I need help to understand the negativity since I enjoyed the movie in the cinema so much though I do understand some sins. Why are hulk dogs a bad idea? Ang Lee made a good film with an interesting psychology (for a superhero film) and enjoyable action and the comic like transitions were a great idea too.
Superhero movies were very hit and miss in the 2000s. Spiderman and X-Men were excellent and basically brought the comic movies into popular culture, but at the same time we also had these disasters like Hulk,Catwoman, and Daredevil to keep them from reaching modern popularity.
I LOVED this Hulk movie! The Edward Norton one was so lackluster in comparison, I thought. Eric Bana did a much more convincing conflicted doctor character, as I can take Norton as either a smart nor a powerful man. I also really liked the Hulk dogs, and thought they were a fresh take on the gamma powers. I liked the actor that played the General better as well and the tank bashing and flying jumps were so much more satisfying than the relatively (to this hulk) slow versions in the Incredible Hulk movie and the Avengers. I fully and completely do not understand the hate for this film and have never regretted watching it. Just one man's humble (yet valid) opinion.
Am I the only one who had to look behind me to make absolutely sure that NIck Nolte wasn't there? I mean, it's super improbable that he would be and not even alert my pitbull, but could I really take that chance?
I remember sitting in the theater and watching all the dull "daddy issues" psychodrama and feeling sorry for all the little kids that came to see the Hulk smashing stuff.
I like this Hulk better than the others, the angrier he gets the bigger and stronger he gets, for me thats true Hulk, and two more things the hulk dogs were in the comics si dont know whats all the hate for, the second thing is that this is the only Hulk movie where bruce gets angry and turns into the Hulk. Norton Bruce turned into the Hulk because of his heart rate and Ruffalo is supposedly always angry, but we never see any anger.........
I’m watching the movie right now and I understand completely nothing and also the effects and everything are driving me crazy so I thought “ PLEASE TELL ME CINEMASINS HAS MADE A VIDEO ABOUT THIS “ and now here we are , this will be hilarious
Who changed that?? It was December 28th 2018 in Manhattan New York. What's up who the fuck changed it. None of this makes sense. Wassup with the Mandela effect going on?
AnAngryBanker Either they co-ordinated with CinemaSins, or both wanted to do something to mark the release of Age of Ultron, and they've both done all the previous MCU movies (IIRC). Probably, a bit of both.
I like this Hulk the most, he was the biggest and strongest. Also, Hulk punched a Hulk Dog in the balls and tossed a tank like a Hotwheels car. That shit deserves a sin off.
+WankersCramp69 he isnt the strongest at all, he is a fucking pussy. in this movie he has to wrestle those dogs, in anything else, her would destroy them with one punch. and somehow not being able to break through that road show's he is weaker than when he killed that enormous alien monster in avengers with just one punch?
element115uncovered you compared the hulk that can't be controlled with that fully controlled one ?! it amaze me that u mention it .. first hulk can't control it n make him go all rage and avengers hulk is him take full control so it's not just rage but his brain works too ..
Producer: Yo, what was that guy's name again? Executive: I think it was Lee? Producer: Yeah, but what was his first name? Executive: (crap, don't know his first name, always thought comic books were lame. Okay, just keep it together. Just pick a name out of the phone book and say it). Executive: Ang. Ang Lee. Producer: Wasn't it Stan? Executive: Nope, definitely Ang Lee. He's the man. Producer: ...eh, what's the worst that could happen?
Joel no what makes this hulk great is that he’s more than the hulk, he has great power and the potential to be a god and chooses to be just the hulk, the whole thing between him and his father is that his father realized his son had the key to godhood, watch the last fight and you’ll kind of understand it I saw it as it was as a kid a battle between demigods one wanted to be god and one just wanted to be good.
Joel in the MCU gods are like strong immortals, real gods can alter the world and reality around them hulks father in this movie changes the form of his atoms retaining his intelligence all from one moment to the next, if this movie was filmed for the MCU instead of the plot they did go with hulks father would have the power to control like weather and rocks he wouldn’t actually be some multidimensional being, the emphasis on that final fight is that hulks father was on the path to being some chaotic god reining over all reality the power he got just from that military installation imagine if he’d absorb all the worlds energy and than the sun.
Did anyone else realize that "CinemaSins" and "Screen Junkies" uploaded Hulk the same day lol. Do they communicate with each other or just coincidental?
Guitarfollower22 I've read ten comments asking this same question. Yes, someone else realized. They did the same thing with 2003 Daredevil before the Netflix premiere.
I feel the bubbling rage of this Hulk with his distorted voice far more than I do the current Ruffalo one, who just sounds like he likes being loud rather than truly angry. Not only that, I felt the cgi on the Hulk himself at times still looks better than the current one, such as when he's in the shadows and when bullets are rippling off his skin. That doesn't excuse the horrible Photoshop airbrushing of the Hulk's purple pants though... and I can't say I was a fan of the Hulk getting ridiculously sized near the end.
I'm curious, why do people hate this movie? Was it the CGI or not enough action? I think its a great movie, i remember going to the premiere when i was 8. Everyone was cheering and screaming at every action part. Funny thing also towards the beginning of the part where he fights his dad. The movie cut off and their was a collected groan from the crowd. People were pissed. After the movie was over there was a good feeling from the crowd that it was a great movie, i even over heard people saying it was a great movie. So u telling me a room full of 400 people have bad taste in movies? This hatred had to come from somewhere. I think the dislike of this movie came about a few years after its release, when rewatched they hated it cause of the CGI... but i never understood that, and still dont. Plus when "The Incredible Hulk" came out (2008) i think "The Hulk" (2003) film got even more hate. But to me this film is one of my all time favs (top 20). And that fight scene with the dogs is a very memorable scene imo.
Steve Stifler Has Returned I think they hate it because it sucks, is confusing, spent more time in flashbacks then it did on the title character, had more contrived coincidences then every other superhero movie combined and has CG that was bad even for the time.
Steve Stifler Has Returned I'd speculate that the key word in your comment is 'when I was 8'. When I was growing up the Hulk I watched was the 80's Incredible Hulk. I thought that was the shit. Now that I'm older, even as good as it was, I can still see how cheesy it was. I mean, the Hulk wore green colored slippers. I also understand that's where technology was then in terms of visual effects. Compare Daredevil in the 80's Hulk television movie compared to the Netflix series. It's so much better, but reasonably visual effects technology is better. Both the HULK and Incredible Hulk with Edward Norton were horrible.
You know, the video that you're commenting on in the first place provides plenty of reasons to hate the movie. It's fine if you like it, just know that you are not by any means the majority in this.
Duesal Bladesinger thats not always the case with Cinema Sins tho. They hate on every movie they want to do. If they did Wolf of Wall Street and pointed out the flaws, would u tell me its a horrible movie, or that every movie is without sin? and if you choose the latter then every movie Cinema Sins does is horrible, which is clearly not the case.
Hulk and Howard have hardly if any interactions with each other in the Comics so it wouldn't make sense for Howard and Hulk to be in a movie together. There would have to be 2 or 3 Fantastic Four Movies before Hulk and Thing have a movie together.
Sin 49, "How can you become a rage monster and destroy everything in sight and suddenly feel the need to go to sleep" Writer of this sin has never raised a toddler
Has more of a horror feel to it. If you're into the comics then I recommend you read the current hulk comics called the immortal hulk. First few issues are really good. Have a really good horror feel to it.
6:59 - This was the perfect joke for Jeremy to preface some of his self-effacing humor with. "Much like my girlfriend, HOURS were spent on the balls for only a second of payoff."
I like the way you deliver your content, the guy who does the anime sins just comes of as cynical and petty with a side of butthurt. But your delivery is much more down to earth and legitimately funny.
This Hulk at least was useful and did stuff, it just took so many flashbacks and expositions to get there. The other Hulk was absent for an entire movie, and never did anything that contributed to the overall story aside from the one moment where overcome was brought back, and that's it.

I never really liked the incredible hulk as much as this one
Absolutely agree, this movie has many flaws but I admire that they tried something new and honestly like it more than the 08' reboot and that design for hulk is IMHO still the best ever.
MaximumMadnessStixon I gotta ask, why do people hate this movie? I understand if the pacing turned them off but that isn't hate worthy :/
AnimeFreakazoid99 I think it's a combination of different factors, not the least of which being it not was the sort-of "Hulk" film people expected or necessarily wanted. When people hear "Hulk", they think of a monster going wild and smashing everything in sight. This film had those moments on occasion, but was more about a cerebreal character-story and went out of it's way to be a more artistic tale using the Hulk as a storytellng device more than anything.

this was too complicated for me as a kid i just liked seeing Hulk kick ass 😂

The comics were always like this. It's simple psychological introspection on the surface but a bit complex for most comic geeks.

Ramin Fateh You're not alone. I love this movie.
Ramin Fateh haha. I was thinking the same thing. I was a kid when this came out too and I was mind blown when the Hulk came on screen and smashed everything.
Ramin Fateh i hated it when i was young because there was too much talking and less smashing

Well now it’s hulk world and spider man 3 a slice from home as far I can remember that’s what it’s called or maybe far away from home?
Did anyone else look behind them when he mentioned nick nolte??
Yes but as a joke

+jared chenklov YES!
I feel stranger after that remark ....."fuck I'm old"
nope. wall
The hulk is always angry because his balls are being crushed by 50 sizes too small jeans.
I thought everyone knew that.
This is the Hulk movie that we deserved, but not the one we needed, at the time.
2003? Wow, that's some prettt good CG for that time. Hulk looks amazing
There are some great CG shots of the Hulk that do hold up really well. But the rest look very Shrek-ish.
Hulk looks disgusting. Attack of the clones from _2002_ has _much_ better cgi

This movie is amazing. The CGI is better than some movies these days and the story and hulk looks and acts much more better and intelligently in this one.
no its not
Even for the time the CGI is just ok. Incredible Hulk comes out 5 years later and has much better CGI. I don't know why people try and make out the CGI in this is great but it clearly just isn't. Just because it was made before the MCU doesn't make it impressive.
@@h.d.5194 it was not as good as some of greatest cgi of its time
A shame they're not continuing to make hulk movies
***** That's why you have Bruce Banner. He's the one the audiences are supposed to latch on to.
***** three words: World War Hulk
***** I disagree, I really liked how he worked solo in The Incredible Hulk. What makes Bruce interesting and different from other heroes is that he doesn't really want his powers and is always trying to find a cure. He also has great villains that I wish we'd see in the MCU (I'd like to see Abomination make a return).
Tawhid Chowdhury Why is that anyway? Did Ruffalo not want to make a standalone Hulk movie? Or does Marvel think they established the character enough...with the two other Hulk movies that Avengers didn't even acknowledge.
Tawhid Chowdhury We need She-Hulk. Black Widow is such a boring character.
“Decided to Use the guerrilla footage of nick nolte in his trailer”
As he’s seen huffing shit has me dying 😂
This movie is known for it's use comic book panel scenes. X Men First Class is the second film use this effect. I wish the other Marvel films and DC films would use comic book panel shots.
Raimi Spider-Man used it a little bit
Such an underrated movie, for me is one of the best comic book movies ever!
Ettore Nardelli I think this movie works best when you’re pissed yourself
@@khayree7929 Its too profound and psychological to be an Hulk movie, that's the problem, people didn't like it cuz they expected something else, like The Incredible Hulk, and that's pretty self explanatory i think............
Ettore Nardelli based on what I seen apparently they just like when it’s only hulk and not banner smashing things despite hulk having a much deeper story
I like to think of TIH as an unofficial sequel to this film as one of the first Banner lines (if not the first) was basically “Don’t make me [angry], you won’t like me when I’m [angry].”
you need to do Matilda, the one about the physic girl, you would have so much fun
Matilda was great
Anna Gems It's not like they hate every movie they sin, no movie is without sin.

Alahjandro Dagrate 🤣
Why does a 2003 movie look like it was filmed in 1992? The photography really sucks
Wtf do you mean photography lol
You mean the CGI? Given the time this movie came out the CGI used in this was ahead it's time in my opinion. The Avengers hulk looks terrible to me and actually looks no better than the 2003 one... and I still prefer the 2003 hulk compared to the rest which is 13 years old lol
there's a term related to movies called like that: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Principal_photography
Thanks David, at least someone understands..
Swooping Bears Honestly though, they're both kinda shit looking
Lance I'm talking about technology, not about the "shade of green". 2008 is widely known for its tremendously bad CGI. Considering 5 years gap between the movies, 2003 is obviously the better made one.
Swooping Bears Too much Shrek in this one
Lance Better than the sickly '08 green
9:41 this scene! This scene will always live rent free inside my head. Its just so funny not knowing the decision why they did it that way
This is one of the better superhero movies.
I've lost count of how many times I've rewatched this video. xD
I started watching this when I was really little. It never scared me, I understood everything that was going on, the one scene I couldn’t stand watching is the scene where hulk fights genetic evil dogs, and the only thing that scared me was the play menu.
1:42 Kermit murder 😂
For me, best hulk action out of any of the movies. Hands down.
I was terrified when I first saw David bitting the cable it was quite anti-climatic, and I didn't understand the movie that well.
I remember sitting in the theater and watching all the dull "daddy issues" psychodrama and feeling sorry for all the little kids that came to see the Hulk smashing stuff.
The video was posted five minutes ago and I still can't get into the "Under 301 Club". "sigh"

Gavin Guillen I am convinced the videos just start with 301 views.
Kevin Webster nope. seen one with 26. and 52. 37.
David Arias Yeah this is by far the best hulk film. I don't get why everyone hates it.
6:15 so best sin ever then
this is not Mark Ruffalo
I’m watching the movie right now and I understand completely nothing and also the effects and everything are driving me crazy so I thought “ PLEASE TELL ME CINEMASINS HAS MADE A VIDEO ABOUT THIS “ and now here we are , this will be hilarious

This was actually a well made movie. They made a good effort to actually tell the story of Bruce Banner. Good movie.
12:46. Awesome scene!
I like this Hulk the most, he was the biggest and strongest.
Also, Hulk punched a Hulk Dog in the balls and tossed a tank like a Hotwheels car. That shit deserves a sin off.
+WankersCramp69 damn straight!
+WankersCramp69 he isnt the strongest at all, he is a fucking pussy. in this movie he has to wrestle those dogs, in anything else, her would destroy them with one punch. and somehow not being able to break through that road show's he is weaker than when he killed that enormous alien monster in avengers with just one punch?
element115uncovered you compared the hulk that can't be controlled with that fully controlled one ?!
it amaze me that u mention it ..
first hulk can't control it n make him go all rage and avengers hulk is him take full control so it's not just rage but his brain works too ..
shiddiqification ...i do not understand anything that you just said.
element115uncovered the avengers hulk can decide when to turn from bruce banner to hulk; the hulk (from 2003) doesnt
I feel like they were looking for Stan Lee but just picked the first “Lee” in the phone book and told them to make a movie
@@davidhong1934 yay 🙌 dick cheese 🧀
You know, I'm still confused by this movie.
Ok.. The fact that you know what "lock out tag out" is makes me respect this channel so much more
I loved this movie as a kid the idea of mortals becoming gods the good and evil, after watching endgame this is the hulk I appreciate
Joel it got progressively worse
Incredible Hulk > Hulk. I definitely preferred the one that Marvel Studios had a hand in as opposed to this abomination (if you know what I mean).
Abomination not in this one :D
Sjono I know. Instead they put in one of Hulk's lesser know adversaries: Zzzax.
Lauchlin MacPhee Actually it was some kind of Hybrid between Brain Banner, Absorbing Man and Zzzax.
Lauchlin MacPhee why compare this crap with Marvel film, is as a comparison between Captain America from 1990 and Captain America The First Avenger
Lauchlin MacPhee You do realize that Kevin Feige produced this abomination before establishing the MCU, right?
Did anyone else realize that "CinemaSins" and "Screen Junkies" uploaded Hulk the same day lol. Do they communicate with each other or just coincidental?
Guitarfollower22 I've read ten comments asking this same question. Yes, someone else realized. They did the same thing with 2003 Daredevil before the Netflix premiere.
That's actually really cool. It keeps it organized for people who like and follow both channels.
Moon HD there wasnt even 7 billion people on earth in 2003 "walks out the door"
You know, the video that you're commenting on in the first place provides plenty of reasons to hate the movie. It's fine if you like it, just know that you are not by any means the majority in this.
Duesal Bladesinger thats not always the case with Cinema Sins tho. They hate on every movie they want to do. If they did Wolf of Wall Street and pointed out the flaws, would u tell me its a horrible movie, or that every movie is without sin? and if you choose the latter then every movie Cinema Sins does is horrible, which is clearly not the case.
Such an underrated movie.
For me is one of the best comic book mocies of all time!
Hulk could be paired with Howard The Duck in an upcoming movie. Or maybe with "The Thing A.K.A Ben Grimm".
Wolverine would be a good team up
Hulk and Howard have hardly if any interactions with each other in the Comics so it wouldn't make sense for Howard and Hulk to be in a movie together. There would have to be 2 or 3 Fantastic Four Movies before Hulk and Thing have a movie together.

At least Hulk was fearsome in this movie, unlike a certain other Hulk incarnation we got recently
This Hulk at least was useful and did stuff, it just took so many flashbacks and expositions to get there.
The other Hulk was absent for an entire movie, and never did anything that contributed to the overall story aside from the one moment where overcome was brought back, and that's it.
