Thank you for the update. I loved it. 💕 For my Birkin i used a soil mix of peet-free soil , cochocoir and perlite. The plant stands on my dining table in the middle of the room, i sometimes put it in a north facing window for some extra light. I spray the plant with water now and then. And for firtilizer i use Bokashi liquid every 2 weeks. Repotted the plant 12.05 and i have gotten 2 new leafs since then 🤩
Ok I will definitely make a note of that if either of them don't like the soil mix! Please do share your birkin update on Instagram, feel free to tag me. I would love to see yours as it grows ☺️
I really enjoy your thoroughness, your efforts to bring your audience along for the ride with updates, and keeping the titles in your videos the same when they pertain to the same plant so we can easily find them. So refreshing for those of us looking to see what happens next. Keep it up. Awesome job.
Birkins are climbers....if you have aerial roots give them a pole! They will attach to it and you will get bigger leaves as the plant climbs up!!! I did that with mine and is the first plant people comment on when they walk into my house. They say "OMG what a stunning plant what is it"
I would love to see a big birkin plant! Feel free to share with me what your looks like on Instagram. I don't think I've ever seen how birkin that was climbing, how neat and exciting, I think I will try with my birkin as well. Thank you!
Clay Soil Forgot to say on my comment, the birkin I have is the variegated one (white with green stripes) and this is the climber. The regular birkin (most common) is the clumping variety. But, as soon as I get home will take a picture of it and tag you.
That's interesting! All the info I've read online says that they don't climb / vine

My Birkin has not striped for me yet and I know now b/c of your video, it is not a mature enough plant. Possibly next year it will give me these beautiful leaves. Thank you for this video.
I was so curious about that too cause to me the juvenile versions reminded me of a regular green pothos but once I saw the pups I was just so pleasantly surprised and the fact that there were baby plants growing at the base of the plants ..how neat!!! I can't wait to see how big your plant gets!
I bought mine 1 month ago and it grew and keeps shooting new leaf, what I do is boil water, let water stand for 7 days, then water plant with it. Nothing special, a bit of epson salt , only a bit, like a pinch on the water , I did it this month, so I do not plan to do epson salt till 2 more months and I have it by my window, 4 hrs of sun rays...... then is bright light.
@@CrazyFilterLadyEntertainer2023 really... Wow, I'm new to plants and just got a Birkin.... So how much exactly is just a pinch of Epson salt to how much water. I DMT want to mess it up and how often do u use this water ?
Love your plants 😍 I just bought two from my local grocery store I couldn't believe it from now on I will wait to buy hard to find plants instead of ordering again you have two beautiful philodendron Birkins.
I have this plant, the middle of it looked like it was dying so I cut it off. Now I have a little stump. Will it grow back? Should I report it and cover the stump with soil?
I have had two leaves go yellow for me for two reasons. One because I over-watered once and the Coco coir was holding onto too much moisture and second was a lower tier leaf was getting old and died. Check your soil if it's been wet for too long that could be the main culprit
Hello! I'm having a hard time to understand what's going on with my birkin. I noted that two old leaves, in different weeks, have lost their top leaving only the stem. I don't understand if it's normal (because maybe they were old? Or not)
What's your watering schedule? Or how often are you watering your Birkin? Top leaves are the newer leaves, if anything the bottom leaves should die before the top ones.
Thank you for this video. I've had mine for about a month. Yesterday I woke to her drooping but, she has a new leaf coming. How do I correct this situation.? She is in indirect sunlight and I have been watering her as needed.
@@katrinarowson maybe move it closer to humidifier and see if it helps. If your in a zone where the seasons are changing noticeably it can be trying to acclimate and in that case maybe put it on a heat mat
Hi, I came across your videos in the hope to save my plant. Its a fairly small plant however one of the leaves turned black and brown and I'm not sure what happened - I now have another leaf that is starting to do the same thing, I'm not sure if its been over watered or if its diseased. Wondering if you have any tips that could help me?
Oh no Andreia, I'm so sorry to hear that! When is the last time you watered the plant, if it's been awhile and the soil is still wet then that could be the culprit. It can also go black if you don't water it enough. How's the lighting, too much light can cause burns. If I were you, I would take the plant out of the soil and check for root for root rot. If the roots are white then they are healthy if some are black and some are white you can do a hydrogen peroxide water mix and leave the roots in it for a few days to get rid of the rot or you could put the plant in brand new soil that's light and airy and see if it helps. You can send me photos on my Instagram and I can try to help you that way. Good luck crossing fingers🤞
What do u mean by "defused sunlight" ? I'm new to plants and just got a Birkin ysday (without knowing, there was no tag) , it's absolutely beautiful .... I love how sw.leaves have more white then green and vise virsa. One leaf even has one half all green and the other half is the strippy Birkin look white n green. It's stunning. I'd like to try n keep it this way , so tryin to learn how to care for it properly
Hi Judith! Depends on your level of experience and comfortability. You can't go wrong with an airy mix. Mixture of orchid bark, Pearlite, and Coco coir will be good medium.
I have a very large Birkin that doesn’t have any dark green leaves. It sits directly under a grow light and is stunning.

I also replanted it and separated both plants, and even the baby is growing. Mine is growing fast.

Just bought 2 from Home Depot for $10 each 😁😁
$10 each!!!!! 😮😮😮 How exciting, they are very easy plants to care for!
I am curious how they did in each medium and new pot. I checked and didn't see an update video yet. Am I missing it?
Where did you get that cool round pot? (The brown one at the start of your video)
Hello, my philodendron birkin died of a cone of growth. I don't know what I did wrong. Will it grow, or is this the end of my plant?

Have you checked water and humidity? Humidity can make it curl & droop but too much can be the culprit too

JUST GOT 2 WOOT WOOT
Me too😃😃
They had them for $10 at Home Depot so I bought 2 🤷🏽♀️
Do u know why the tips of my birkin might be browning?
Do you water with tap water, that may be the reason
They say Birken tend to fade for lack of defused sun light.
The mature leaves turn green regardless of light. The variagation in new growth is affected by the light quality.

how old is your birkin? new subscriber!
hi there, my birkin is about a year old now, and thank you for subscribing Harun! Welcome to the Clay Soil family!!!
What is the best medium for birkin?
Hi Judith! Depends on your level of experience and comfortability. You can't go wrong with an airy mix. Mixture of orchid bark, Pearlite, and Coco coir will be good medium.
You're in Fairfax? I'm a Mason student; hey neighbor! :)
Hi Neighbor!!! I just moved to Cali but I'm bi-coastal right now :) Thats so neat, Mason is awesome :)
I do semi sun, 4 hrs of sun the rest bright, so I figured out a spot in my shelf and she stays there.
How much is your Berkins?
walmart 16.99
