I wanted to let u know that I rescued 3 druggies and put them on the sgs2 diet because of your videos. They are about a month and a half in and I can already see a big change in behavior and their fur. I just want to say thank you for sharing all your knowledge and I cant wait to see more video's
Very much like my recipes based on your first video on diet. been problem free for a year straight (there were some worried moments at the start though) .Calculate the ratios, Vary ingredients / flavors from fruits. sometimes top with rainforest honey or grounded bee pollen for a small vitamin boost and anti-everything (honey /bee products is like a natural medicine, but more like a desert for fridays or saturdays or when they feel very picky) I cook chicken/turkey and continue using that broth to cook carrots, pees, bok/pak choy, celery or spinach, to soften any oxolate crystals in any greens rich in calcium. never cook fruits though to give it some fresh texture and maintain a somewhat sweet flavour. Mix between mashing and blender to get different textures to choose from, and add the broth to get a runnier consistency. or leave it out to get it more solid. Variety is the best. Keep doing what you're doing. No info i trust more than yours. Disclaimer: i hate peeling papaya and mango. sticky af.
Thank you so much, Otto! ❤ Here's an awesome suggie mom tip for you: First half them and then spoon out the pulp from the papaya and mango! :-D I like your way of preparing the mush, but you don't have to boil anything since the ingredients are already well balanced! :-) I'm very happy to read that the diet has been working out so well for you! I love it when people inform me of the improvement of their suggies after switching to the SGS 2. All the best to you and your babies!
I have 2 sugar gliders one is a girl and she is a albino and is pregnant with twins and the second one is a boy and he is a white face black b you have been super helpful and I really appreciate it!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hey beautiful I was wondering if you could Do a more thorough video on what all to feed them at night. Currently I’m using the BNL but I’m planning to switch over to the SGS diet. I was wondering if you can feed them normal vegetables and fruit along with the diet is well according to the fats and all that. as well as I think it would be a pretty good video for starters.
Hi! The SGS 2 is their food for the whole night. It is nutritionally balanced and you don't need to add anything to their diet otherwise it will mess up their vitamin intake for the night. No insects and treats required. Along with the diet mine get 1-2 yogie drops per glider during the night and some insects in the morning but the rest is a perfectly balanced daily staple diet that does not have to be adjusted 😊
Awesome Sugar Glider Mommy ahhh ok thank you so much for the reply!! This helps a lot and thank you for telling me this... I took in four sugar gliders from a widow and I’m struggling with taking it all in
Awesome Sugar Glider Mommy alright and thank you so much for being a great influence ❤️❤️ thank yo so much for everything you’ve helped me with from your posts it helps greatly
What should I worry more about the osaltoxlater or the fosfuris??? Cuz some of ur foods u have in the green are high in osaltoxlater.!! So saying that what should I be worry more about!!.
Hello. Great video again. So I recently got my sugar gliders, one male one female expecting joeys around Christmas (can't wait!) their former owner said they wouldn't eat sgs2 diet though I'm super keen on trying as I know it's more beneficial, any advice? And how much should each portion weigh? Last night was the first night in my house they barely touched the fresh fruit I put out so I'm hoping to start sgs2 as soon as my supplements come.
Oh, I have yet to hear of a sugar glider starving because they did not want to eat the SGS 2! :-D The problem usually is that these suggies were used to a diet high in fruit (already high in sugar) and or honey (so more sugar) and evidently the SGS 2 tastes nothing like that. The best thing to do is offer the SGS 2 and offer NO TREATS for a couple days until they start eating their staple. Normally they cave after 2-4 days. A portion should be about 1 heaped tablespoon per glider but it has to be adjusted depending on their eating habits. If they leave nothing inside the bowl then you need to add more. You always want to find leftovers the next day.
Magic. I will try definitely I have done some research and I believe this is the best diet for them and us (being for cost effective) untill the supplements arrive I asume I will keep them on fresh fruit and vegetables and using treats only for bonding with them. Thank you for the reply. I can't wait for the 12 suggies of Christmas vids 😍
Have I missed the recipes for B,C,D, & E? All of recipe A is this? : Vegetables: + 25g carrots + 25g cucumber + 100g bok choy + 50g pumpkin + 100g butternut squash Fruit: + 50g apple + 50g raspberries + 50g papaya Protein: + 1 boiled, peeled egg (or 50g chicken breast, cooked in only water. The egg is in the original recipe, I simply like to offer different protein as well.)
Hi! Love your video😍😍 But I do have a question,is it compulsary to add the acacia gum, probiotic yoghurt and bee pollen?? Because some of the ingredients are hard to find in my area, i was wondering if there is any other ingredient that can be used? ☺️☺️
You can basically use anything from the Green/Amber list as a substitute, since the fruit on the green list are even better alternatives: Papaya, Rosemary, Bok Choi, Squash (Spaghetti), Raspberries, Blackberries, Celery, Squash (Butternut), Custard Apple, Java (Jambolian) Plum, Apple (with Skin), Pear, Iams(UK Only) or James Wellbeloved, or Orijen cat biscuits, Persimmon (Sharon Fruit), Guava, Green Beans, Carrots, Squash (Acorn), Blackcurrant, Mango, Sugar Snap / Snow Peas, Rutabaga, Dates, Cherries (Sweet), Apricots, Broccoli (florets), Sweet Potato, Kiwi, Strawberry, Cucumber, Broccoli, Mange Tout, Dandelion Greens, Spinach, Watercress, Kale, Collard Greens, Grapefruit (Pink, Red, & White), Pineapple, Tangerine/Mandarin, Lime, Orange (Navel), Raspberries, Lemon, Fig (fresh), Kumquat, Cantaloupe Melon, Honeydew Melon, Blueberry, Star Fruit (Carambola), Cauliflower, (Pumpkin). :-)
Have you done TPG diet? What were your results if so? Also on sugarglider.info I seen sgs 2 has cat food on the list is that necessary? I don’t like the idea of feeding them cat food it was the thing that made me decide to try the TPG since they came to me on critter love 😔
TPG is almost the same diet as SGS 2, only with more sugar. I've not tried the TPG, but I can tell you for sure that cat food recommended with this diet is only optional and most owners that feed SGS 2 do not feed cat food at all :-)
Awesome Sugar Glider Mommy thank you so much for your quick reply! I didn’t know if it was something that was needed and didn’t want to feed them a diet that I wasn’t completely comfortable with all the ingredients in it 😆
I have a questions on the recipes on all of the recipes do you add linseed, wombaroo, yogurt, acacia gum, bee pollen, oatmeal, and calcium I am getting ready to get my suggies and is planning ahead on recipes
Hi, Susan. I am glad that you are doing your research ahead of time ❤ Yes, you have to add these supplements to every batch you make. You should consider joining Sugar Gliders UK if you want to start offering the SGS 2 recipe. The creator of the SGS 2 is very active over there and regularly publishes tipps on feeding SGS 2 or even recipes as examples. Or of course you can always ask me if you have any more quetions 😊
Since pumpkin is an "amber", you can substitute with any other vegetable from the "amber" category so dandelion greens, spinach, watercress, kale, collard greens, cauliflower, ... Also, you can *always* replace "amber" items with items from the green categories because the green categories have a better ratio anyway. So basically you don't even have to serve things from the amber category, you can also just use green 1 and green 2 items only. But not the other way around, so you should not replace a product from the green category with a product from the amber category. It's always: "green 1 is the best, "green 2 is ok" and "amber is a compromise because the items taste good". I hope this makes sense.
Hi! I love your videos they have been very helpful for me! I like the idea that this diet is low in sugar as well… and i may switch to this when I've used up the last of my staple diet but like you I also make 5 or 6 batches at a time so I have a bit more to go through😋 I do have a couple questions... 1) Is there a reason you add your calcium before feeding and only every other day? Are you just concerned it doesn't get blended and divided up properly? Or does something happen to the calcium when it sits in the food? 2) When you say you make each batch different do you mean only the vegetables and fruits are different to change the flavor? If so do yours have any favorites that may be the best when introducing suggies to this diet because they can be so picky. 3) You put 4 servings in one container does that mean all your suggies are living together now officially with no more divider!?!?🙂 Thanks!
Awesome Sugar Glider Mommy okay, that makes perfect sense to me! I can't wait to try it out! And I really like the idea of everything being blended as I've noticed one of my gliders Harrison(not to call anyone out or name names) ;P likes to wake up earlier than the others and will eat sometimes all the melons first leaving little or none for his cage mates and sticking them with the veggies!
@@AwesomeSugarGliderMommy Hello again! I am now running low on my last batch of BML and wanted to get started making the sgs2! I did come across an issue and wanted your opinion... I can't seem to find the "zolcal-D" liquid calcium recommended in the recipe. I went to a few different pet stores and did find a liquid calcium but it was specifically for reptiles(I think the brand name was Flukers) And it appears Amazon used to carry this but does not at the moment... For the bml staple diet that their currently on I do use the pink label "rep-cal" calcium with vitamin D. Is it okay to substitute with that?? It is in powder form so I don't know how I would measure it to add it every other and day... Or is there a different calcium that I can use that you are aware of? If you are unsure maybe I should post this on a sugar glider Facebook page perhaps some other people in the US have come across the same issue?… Also the acacia gum powder I think I can find that in any health food store but is any kind okay? Thanks
Are u guys limited to what u guys in the UK have to feed them then us in the u.s.a. cuz ppl say they need a good balance of food. VERY CONFUSSED HERE!! PLEASE EXPLAINE MORE ON THE FOODS IN GREEN & THE OSALTOXLATER & FOSFUIS. PLZ.
Hi Kelly. There is a balance in nutrients that should be taken into consideration when feeding sugar gliders. The tables basically summarize for you what food items you can feed often & in high amounts (green), what food items can be offered, but in lower amounts (orange) and what food items should be fed very sparingly or avoided (red). The purpose of that summary is to help you NOT stress too much about those things. Simply use according to table colour (green 1, green 2, orange, red). For example, I'm not worried about adding too much Pak Choy (green 1) to their diet, but I would be careful not to be too generous with Pumpkin (orange).
I’m in the US. I can’t find a place to purchase the recommended zocal-d. Can you use a different calcium? Also what brand of acacia gum do you use? These are the two main things that kept me from trying this diet. I currently feed TPG.
I talked to the creator and she recommend Glidercal and Acacia gum sold by Exotic Nutrition. I don't recommend buying other supplements from them though, especially not their Wombaroo Powder. But they do offer these 2 so I hope this helps 😊
My glider her name is Ava, she had two the most amazing adorable babies ever! The boy was Dunkin, the female is Dakota. Ava well, this is a warning to what you’re about to read. Ava ate half of them and hollowed them out, I’m selling her, sadly I have to sell the farther, Sunny. He was a great farther and would actually help his babies. I miss them a lot and it was way to traumatizing. I wish it never happened.
I'm very sorry to read this! This is not uncommon when breeding suggies and this is one of the important reasons why I always recommend neutering males and not breeding. Anything from diet, environment, smells, sounds and also factors of inbreeding can cause this type of behaviour. Are you selling them because of this behaviour? I'm sure that you could neuter the male and keep them as happy, loving pets! 😁
Awesome Sugar Glider Mommy sadly I will sell them, they’re to hard to care for but when this didn’t happen I loved Ava. But now I don’t. The Ryder diet was good, but we can’t get pellets. I feed them Eggs, bit of yogurt, ham (no crust) fruit, and sometimes mealworms. I’m not going to keep them as they’re very hard to keep track of, especially when sick.I hate her for what she’s done, but maybe I’ll warm up to her.
I believe you did your best, but unfortunately you have received very, very bad advice regarding their diet which probably explains why the mother killed the babies: Because she did not have the nutrients to survive herself and she probably had to pick between her health and her babies. If this is how you feel about them, then it is best if you find a new home for them. Please make sure to give them to someone knowledgeable.
