No lie. Yall could probably make money if you buy a shirt, wait until they're gone and then sell em on ebay. ;) haha love you guys so much. enjoy the reaction!
If you like RDJ then listen to Heaven and Hell by Black Sabbath. He replaced Ozzy for a while. This album was their best under Dio. He was one of the best singers!
In my opinion, probably the best heavy rock song ever produced. All the stars aligned for this one. RIP all those who have passed. And a beer for those who remain.
Last week some silly facebook chain letter asked me to name the "best song overall" - and my choice was stargazer. Dio was one of my favorite vocalists. Blackmore on Guitar (while being no Vai or Gilbert) is a master of the Guitar. The Drums and the the arrangement, the Synths in the Background, the solos and an the story being told in this song is a superb combination. When I heard this song the first time it struck me - and that was more than 35 Years ago.

I wholeheartedly believe that Stargazer is the best rock/metal song ever written. It's truly magical, and I get goosebumps every single time I listen to it. Glad to see that it gets some appreciation.

Dude I'm can't tell you how happy I am to see you react to this song. I was first introduced to it by a good friend while driving around in a car and it was a mix tape. That's right I said "tape". The first time I heard it I didn't know what I just heard. The second time I listened to it. I cried. Years later I had met someone who was wearing a Rainbow shirt. We got talking and I explained my experience and turns out he cried his second time listening to it too. It's my favorite song of all time and I to consider it perfect. It was interesting to hear you make that mention too. There is something truly magical about this song from a very deep level. The music has so many layers to it but the layers don't feel stacked but rather melted into each other. Thanks for this.
The Dio love is pretty heartwarming. He was a huge influence and inspiration for generations of musicians, and so very few have reached the same heights he did. It's always nice to see people finally tune in and see the raw, unrestrained talent in his work. If you like music that tells a story like this one, I HAVE to recommend Coheed and Cambria's music. One of their most well-known is Welcome Home, but Sentry The Defiant, Domino the Destitute, or (especially) The Dark Sentencer from their upcoming album are all amazing songs with actual stories attached to them- the band wrote comic books and actual short stories to accompany their music. Said stories aren't required to appreciate the music, and oh god are C&C talented, but they're half the fun. If you plan on doing your usual research, I'd recommend saving it until after you've heard the song or songs or album, so you can appreciate the music itself first.
What few have mentioned is the Middle Eastern 'feel' to the song. The phrasing and chord links that Richie uses put you right into the desert. Stunning piece of music. Stunning.
Believe it or not, I have watched probably close to 10 of these RUclips reaction videos for Stargazer. THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST ONE. I'm a long time metal fan, and a huge fan of RJ Dio. This song is definitely one of his best vocal productions ever. Pair that with Ritchie Blackmore's guitar and Cozy Powell's drumming, and you've got a really unique, epic masterpiece. As a HUGE fan of Ronnie James Dio since the 80´s it seems ive heard this song about million times. It still gives me goosebumps even today seeing your video, its just that good, a true masterpiece !
React to Helloween - I want out. Helloween is a band that appeared in the mid 80's, have a sound that refers to Iron, Judas Priest and other bands of the time. Highlights include vocalist Michael Kiske who reaches sharp and extensive notes with extreme ease, and lines of melodic guitars. This song in question portrays how much we are suffocated in different spheres of coexistence within society, and there comes a time that we really "want to get out".
Haha, I just commented that he needs to listen to Keeper of the seven keys, but i think that I want out or Dr. Stein goes better for a first Helloween first time.
Indeed , keeper of the seven keys. He's already entered the realm of masterpieces with stargazer and a couple other. Might as well go for that or even Avantasia - The Seven Angels while we're feeling brave.
I Want Out really isn't that good of a reaction song. Keeper of the Seven Keys is a much better choice, it's a top three all time power metal song for sure.
My dad loves Rainbow, not really into metal though. But he showed me this band when I was a kid and it's the first real band I've known, and I like to think it paved the way for me into the metal world. So thanks dad and Dio! My good sir, I believe you have FINALLY reached enlightenment. You *get it*, it's clear on your face. YOU HAVE FELT AND EXPERIENCED WHAT WE ALL HAVE BEEN FEELING FOR ALL THESE YEARS. Dude, I reacted of the same way you did when I listened to Rainbow for first time, specially when I heard that song. Love for Rainbow and Dio will never die! ❤
This song is very nostalgic for me as this was mum’s favourite album when she was expecting me so I’ve literally been hearing this since being in the womb! I’m glad you enjoyed it so much
This is my favourite Rainbow song, brilliant choice to react to. Now on the subject of the vocals and instruments going brilliantly together time to do my usual request, Kingdom (live at EMGTV) by Devin Townsend. In my ever changing list of best vocalists two that will never leave the top 5 is 'evvy Devvy and Ronnie James Dio. I will warn you about the good ol' canadian devil, it is a very deep rabbit hole of musical masterpieces ranging from the most extreme of extreme metal to country and some of the most beautiful songs written in the last 25 years. Also another brilliant Rainbow song is man on the silver mountain.
This was awesome! Stargazer is one of metals great compositions. Ritchie Blackmore and Ronnie were a perfect match. This song and album are epic, grand, cinematic. It's a masterpiece. A Light In the Black is it's sister song on the album. I loved this song since I was a preteen. Toney Carey on Keys, Jimmy Bain on bass, Cozy Powell on drums and the London Royal Philharmonic Orchestra joins at the end. I'm glad you liked it so much Alex. I always have as well. This is one of the greatest songs ever written. I hope you've listened some more, there's a lot to absorb in this.
2019...and still one of the best songs ever! I remember playing in the park with my portable cassette radio...truly a masterpiece. I see a Rainbow Risinnnggg!!
Bro, I haven't seen you get lost in a song like this in ages. This is amazing. I love your work my dude. Brings some light to the void that we call life
It's not Dio but Ritchie Blackmore on guitar and Cozy Powell on drums. It was Blackmore that gave Dio a chance to become a legend. This is one of the best line ups in History. Blackmore is a genius.
And don't forget Tony Carey on keyboards, and the late great Jimmy Bain on bass. This line up was also on the killer live album Rainbow On Stage which featured the first appearance of Kill The King which then appeared in a slightly altered version on Long Live Rock'N'Roll. Slightly altered because David Stone had replaced Tony Carey on keyboards and Bob Daisley had taken over for Jimmy Bain on bass at that point. The late great RJD was still the lead vocalist, and the late great Cozy Powell was still slamming the drum skins like the beast he was. That WHOLE album is awesome. If you want to hear how amazing Dio was as a vocalist and lyricist, check out at very least the songs "Kill The King", "Lady of the Lake", "Gates of Babylon", and "Rainbow Eyes" By itself, "Rainbow Eyes" is quite possibly one of the most beautiful, heartbreaking ballads Ronnie James Dio EVER sang. And he truly sang on that one. Pretty song, pretty vocal, pretty guitar. Very Spartan song. Pretty much Ritchie playing guitar and Ronnie singing. That's it. (But just from hearing this song, you kind of see where Ritchie's later Renaissance project Blackmore's Night came from.) Ronnie used to say he never sang/wrote love songs, but if "Rainbow Eyes" is NOT a love song? I don't know what is. Sounds like one to me. :-)
@@glaurung8644 Dio was in Rainbow b4 bBlack Sabbath...Dio was in a band called Elf that toured with Deep Purple and Electric Light Orchestra...I was there...
You've been DIO'd!!!! I am so glad you covered this. Definitely one of Metal's all-time greats!!!! 🔥🤟 And now that you know...go forth and conquer other adventures that await you...
Hey Alex, so glad you love that song. You talking about goosebumps, it's how i felt when I first turned the record over to side 2 back in '76. What also makes this song super great for me is the using real orchestra for the coda. Now you gotta react to the part 2 of this saga... "A Light in the Black". It's twice as fast and epic with phenomenal solos from both Ritchie on guitar and a very young Tony Carey on keys, and Cozy Powell's drum intro will leave your mouth wide open. And of course, you got the god like voice of the late RJD. Also highly recommended song by Rainbow from Dio period is "Gates of Babylon" You won't be disappointed.
I know this song for many years. And this is the only song that makes me feel tingles down my spine. Each time I listen to this song I feel them. I mean it - EACH F.....G TIME! Incredible RJD!
Look up the Rainbow Mistreated live in Munich..such an epic song. So glad to see younger generations appreciating good music, they don't make it like this any more. I just discovered your channel and I love how blown away you are by music, the goosebumps, chills, emotional, so good man. Mistreated live will blow this away...or at least tie it, lol. Thanks for the reaction.
1st time i heard the song it was literally just a 9 minute onslaught on my senses so you're not on your own 😂 His vocals are unbelievable, and so clean. Great video mate. Keem 'em coming
Next RAINBOW song should be "Man on the silver mountain" or "Kill the king"! Or maybe All night long with Graham Bonnet? Eh, can't really decide but LONG LIVE ROCK 'N' ROLL!!
Graham's one of my favorite singers. Is he Ronnie James Dio? No. He's Graham Bonnet. The first Alcatrazz remains in my all time favorites list. But, if I had to pick the next Rainbow song for Alex it would Man on the Silver Mountain.
I'm glad you liked it. These songs have been part of my soul for 35 years. It's truly lovely to see them hitting you like artillery shells. Glorious. Thank you for being so open-minded.
I remember when this album was first released. It’s definitely A shining moment for the band and definitely showcases Dio in his finest hour. This song still sounds as incredible as it did when I first heard so many years ago. Thanks for reviewing this epic masterpiece
So glad to finally see you react to this absolute masterpiece. You should definitely check out A Light in the Black now. (Stargazer Part 2 pretty much) More goose bump inducing music.
Very well summed up - it's an image of society and the humans. I've been listening to this song about 25 times a week, for the last ten years. The combination of lyrics and sheer performance, keeps me from going totally insane.
Good songs come and go.. The triumvirate of Blackmore, Dio and Powell combined to make this great song absolutely timeless. It's an absolute masterpiece of musical craftsmanship that should be revered as a gift from the Gods of Rock n Roll. Long Live Rock and Roll. Long live RAINBOW 🌈
MAAAAAAN, my dad had this LP and I've started hearing these songs (the whole album) when I was a little child and I remember loving it since I can remember of hearing any song. I've loved to realize that you're going through some good experiences with rock and metal. Try to listen to the whole album and react to it, you will love it all like you did with this song. TRUST ME! hahaha
How can you not love Ronnie Dio?!?! Sometimes we forget just how fucking great this man was. Even for those select few who weren't in line the day God was handing out ears you still have to thank him because time and time again he raised the bar and made other musicians work that much harder to put out quality music. Without a doubt the single most influential metal artist ever as well as the humblest and most gracious person I've ever had the privilege of meeting. There will never be another like him.
I was fortunate to see DIO's Last in Line tour..Best all around concert I've ever seen..Love the way you get into the lyrics!! Guess I better subscribe!!!
I love it too. Possibly the greatest intro of all time. I could listen to Cozy playing that forever, what a drummer. It’s just brilliant. And Dio is a legend. But I also love Down To Earth as an album. Graham Bonnet was another incredible rock vocalist. .
Btw, Alex this guitarist is called Ritchie Blackmore and hes the same guitarist that played in deep purple, just tought you should know about one of the best guitarist in history
As someone who has spent most of his 33 year life exposed to the world of rock and roll and heavy metal, I heard Stargazer for the first time a few days ago and was just as completely floored as you were. I subsequently went and listened to the rest of the "Rise" album, and several other of Rainbow's efforts. Dio is the God of rock and roll and heavy metal, he was a gift for us all, and I feel ashamed to only know his best work only after his passing.
Ritchie blackmore is an absolute genius. If you like this type of musik you should check out Deep Purple which is the first band he played in. Child in Time is propably the best song EVER
Lukas Schäfer not even close to the first band he played in. His first band was in 1961 and he was in at least a half a dozen more bands before he formed Deep Purple in 1968.
I think "Stargazer" is the pinnacle of both Blackmore's and Dio's careers. Both did many great things over a period of many decades, but I don't think any vocalist brought out the best in Blackmore as much as Dio did, and no guitarist brought out the best in Dio as much as Blackmore did. This is *it*.
The single most best and epic vocal delivery on a song ever.. I defy anyone who listens to music to argue that ronnie james dio was an absolute vocal monster...the best ever and there will never be the like again 👌
Ritchie Blackmore, guitarist and foundation of the "Rainbow" is also part from other great classic rock band "DEEP PURPLE". So please react to some of theirs songs.
I 1st saw Dio with Black Sabbath, April 17, 1982 at the Cow Palace, a concert venue in Daly City, California. I was 13. We were so mesmerized that we researched Ronnie James Dio, found out he was a founding member of Rainbow, then bought, Rainbow, On Stage, their live album. After that we bought everything he did, all the Rainbow albums he's on (their 1st 4) and bought all 3 Black Sabbath albums with him in the band. We cound't get enough. But, to this day, after hearing all of that, I like Rainbow the most. That was where his writing and musical ability seemed to really shine through. It brings me joy to see a younger person diggin' on this. And I know what you mean about the goose bumps. That's how I felt the 1st we saw him live and the 1st time I heard Rainbow with Dio. I'm happy for you, man. Keep on rockin', Bro. Party on!
thanks Alex for your videos. it makes me very happy to hear and see so much of amazing positive and intelligent reactions from you to my favorite music. \m/
YES!!! A reaction deserving of this masterpiece! I can't believe people have lived their whole lives without experiencing REAL music and talent. This is back when people had to actually hit the notes. Of course he interrupts one of the most amazing vocal performances of all time with a commentary. At least it was an intelligent commentary, unlike some idiots I just watched react to this on another channel. If you can listen to this and not have goose bumps for an hour, you need to check your pulse! Great reaction. This is what music used to be. Evocative, creative, talented performances of amazingly powerful music the likes of which we haven't seen made in decades. This guy knows good stuff when he hears it. The last reaction to this song was like watching someone put Beluga caviar and truffles on a Quarter Pounder. Kudos for exposing another generation to what real music is! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Richie Blackmore and Dio was an insane awesome one of a kind epic combination. the live album is epic as well, such great solo's, especially "Catch the Rainbow" from the "On Stage Album". my personal favorite song of Rainbow :)
Greatest vocalist in the history of rock/metal... Add to that one of the most gifted drummers and a titan on the quitar and this is what you get.. A masterpiece

This song is very nostalgic for me as this was mum’s favourite album when she was expecting me so I’ve literally been hearing this since being in the womb! I’m glad you enjoyed it so much
React to Rainbow in the dark by dio
One of the 3 best classic rock songs ever. Try the other 2: "Comfortably numb" by Pink Floyd and "Kashmir" by Led Zeppelin.
Cheers from Chile!!!
and 2112 ;)
Rainbows Dio era is pure magic
This song is absolutely B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L.
GREATEST.SONG.EVER.
No doubt
Supreme song!
Gates of Babylon is pretty darn good to
2019...and still one of the best songs ever! I remember playing in the park with my portable cassette radio...truly a masterpiece.
I see a Rainbow Risinnnggg!!
when hip hop turms into metal head :)
Bro, I haven't seen you get lost in a song like this in ages. This is amazing.
I love your work my dude. Brings some light to the void that we call life
Qwik fact, Richie is the guitarist extraordinaire for both Rainbow AND Deep Purple.
It's not Dio but Ritchie Blackmore on guitar and Cozy Powell on drums. It was Blackmore that gave Dio a chance to become a legend. This is one of the best line ups in History. Blackmore is a genius.
fuck yeah, that´s what i was thinking
If you want to hear how amazing Dio was as a vocalist and lyricist, check out at very least the songs "Kill The King", "Lady of the Lake", "Gates of Babylon", and "Rainbow Eyes"
By itself, "Rainbow Eyes" is quite possibly one of the most beautiful, heartbreaking ballads Ronnie James Dio EVER sang.
And he truly sang on that one.
Pretty song, pretty vocal, pretty guitar.
Very Spartan song.
Pretty much Ritchie playing guitar and Ronnie singing. That's it.
(But just from hearing this song, you kind of see where Ritchie's later Renaissance project Blackmore's Night came from.)
Ronnie used to say he never sang/wrote love songs, but if "Rainbow Eyes" is NOT a love song?
I don't know what is. Sounds like one to me. :-)
right on bro!...
No its dio dont be a fool!!!
*You can't define me without this song ! I don't wanna exist without this song !!!*
His whole heart and soul is on full display in his vocals at the end of the song.
I just love that you young fellas are bringing all this gold back from the past soit doesn't die with my generation.
this is the genius of ronnie james dio and richie blackmore. I challenge the world to find this talent in the here and now
Look up the Rainbow Mistreated live in Munich..such an epic song.
This track is 40 years old...This generation getting Schooled......🇦🇺🤙😎
Dio - rainbow in the dark
I knew, the first time I heard this song, that it truly was something special! Alex, I'm glad you feel the same way. Love your channel.
Tarot woman
This theme sounds like it was made in HEAVEN.
TRUST ME! hahaha
COZY, DIO, RITCHIE, ALL GENIUS
Right reaction! This song released 1976.... !!!! Light years ahead of its time!
George Grigoriadis Ronnie’s vocals at the end is absolutely killer! His heart is on full display.
Graham Bonnet was another incredible rock vocalist. .
You LIKE Bonnet? You might be the only one bruh, jus sayin'
“So Ronnie, how epic do you want it?”
Duo:”yes”
Failed.
This song has just made me want to get some rainbow and some more dio in my life. Great reaction man. Thanks. Nice one. Have a dope ass day Alex.
@@holydiver73: The Outlaws (not the "Green Grass and High Tides" band) and Screaming Lord Sutch come to mind.
@@robicenco1 Blackmore definitely brought out the best from Ronnie James Dio, but Tony Iommi did also.
The single most best and epic vocal delivery on a song ever.. I defy anyone who listens to music to argue that ronnie james dio was an absolute vocal monster...the best ever and there will never be the like again 👌
What can I say? This song is a MASTERPIECE with the Master of Metal vocals, Ronnie James Dio!!!!!
starburstppl his vocals at the end is pure art.
My favorite song so far.
Tks for react! You're the best!
Ritchie Blackmore, guitarist and foundation of the "Rainbow" is also part from other great classic rock band "DEEP PURPLE".
So please react to some of theirs songs.
So happy you liked it, i remember when i were 12 and dad showed me this. Still getting goosebumps.
Your dad did you right! Peace out.
Fear Factory 'Replica'
Yes please!
Party on!
Ronnie James Dio - "Temple of the King"
thanks Alex for your videos. it makes me very happy to hear and see so much of amazing positive and intelligent reactions from you to my favorite music. \m/
Metallica - Orion please... been asking for weeks xD
This could be the best instrumental album.
ALbum?
Hell Yeah, been asking too for weeks haha
Best instrumental ever written
I've been asking for Death-Voice of the soul for years
so comment that man :'D
7:05 Haha Your Face looks like: "Are you kidding Me?"
Much respect...keep d0ing what y0u are d0ing🤘...great to see a true reaction & a Fan of great music☆
DEATH - CRYSTAL MOUNTAIN
Richie Blackmore and Dio was an insane awesome one of a kind epic combination. the live album is epic as well, such great solo's, especially "Catch the Rainbow" from the "On Stage Album". my personal favorite song of Rainbow :)
Greatest vocalist in the history of rock/metal... Add to that one of the most gifted drummers and a titan on the quitar and this is what you get.. A masterpiece
You and the boys from Lost in Vegas are on par in your reactions. Great ear for the good and the bad. You understand metal already. Plus the fun stuff makes you my favorite reaction Channel out of the many.
pantera - floods
Hefner, thanks for this reaction. Back in the day, I had the privilege to see this band live. They were really good. How about reacting to RAINBOW'S big hit titled 'MAN ON THE SILVER MOUNTAIN'....Peace.
