I think OP hit the nail on the head. Their parents were career driven and wanted to be wealthy. They achieved those goals and only now realize that they failed spectacularly in every other aspect of life. They are not good people. They have a son that is wholly independent of them and wants nothing to do with them and their daughter is a self-absorbed, entitled, bullying brat that wants nothing to do with them accept money and status. The 'legacy' that these parents worked so hard and sacrificed for will be 1 and done with them. The daughter will absolutely blow that inheritance and be up 💩 Creek without a paddle unless she can find a sugar daddy willing to put up with that dumpster fire. OP will go on to live his best life without them and the parents will spend the rest of theirs miserable, wondering where they went wrong. People like these parents should have never had children.
Story 1 OP should tell off his parents by quoting Ray Patterson from the Trash of the Titans episode of The Simpsons in his last line: “I’m not much on speeches but…it’s so gratifying to leave you wallowing in the mess you’ve made. You’re screwed, thank you, ‘bye!”
It seems to me that OP's parents had created a huge pickle for thmselves and, OP, as the scapegoat, is the one officially expected to be the Bad Guy and find some way of hauling GC back into line, facing all the expenses, legal risks and social dangers that this would bring. Well, tough, her parents have made their bed and they can't ask someone else to sleep in it for them.
I suspect that, as the designated scapegoat, OP1's parents expect her to be the Bad Guy and find some way to haul GC back into line, facing all the financial, legal and social risk in doing so because... Well, she has to be worth something in their family, right? However, OP was right to just peace out and let them lie in the bed they made for themselves. GC is not OP's real sister and they are not her real family; they've made that plain over the years. She's not their legal adviser or therapist to resolve their problems. They'll just have to deal without a scapegoat to take all the risks for them.
Story 1. I acrually read this on Reddit. If you were to look up his history and read his responses. His family messed him up pretty bad.
This is why some parents don't deserve kids. They can't even treat their kids right.
