  • Based in Dorset in the UK, Monkey World is the largest monkey and ape rescue centre on the planet. For nearly three decades, the team has saved countless primates - across 20 countries - from lives of cruelty, abuse, and neglect. This safe haven is now home to more than 200 monkeys and apes. The dedicated staff never stop in their quest to save animals from being mistreated by owners, ending up in laboratories or being exploited in the entertainment industry.
    There is a challenge for the staff as four chimps 'move house' on one day in the park's biggest move around yet. Baby chimps Ash and Rodders have breakfast at home with keepers Emma and Paul. And, as Monkey World is the European crèche for baby orang-utans who need a home, there is news from Russia of an orang-utan orphan who needs a family.

      If this pretentious cunt cared about these animals she wouldn’t be tripping over herself getting a brood mare for her menagerie, they would have it in a rehabilitation center in Malaysia to be reintegrated back into the wild. Especially one that young. Anyone here that believes these people are sincere above the money they can make are fools

      @Conway Twitter Get off your high horse. Ideally yes that is the best way HOWEVER reality has made sure that what your crying for WONT HAPPEN! Between the deforestation of the rain forests, Palm Oil Plantations, the Bush meat trade, and animal trafficking, hundreds of chimpanzees, orangutans, and other primates are killed, separated from their mothers, homes destroyed so people can have make up, potato chips, and other items Palm Oil uses to make life better? All I see are armchair whiners in these comments. These places are cruel, these places are wrong. Blah blah STHU! These people are attempting to FIX what mankind has destroyed! Had it not been for these people the already dwindling numbers of primates would be even worse, lower than an already endangered level! At least they try and help the PROBLEM!

    I think some of the worst in-humane treatment is done by Scientists in labs. Why can there not be some laws to protect these creatures in those settings. Can't someone advocate for them. It seems to me they are doing this amazing job to further scientific research so why can't their time doing this be more humane. why can't they be together and not alone. Why do they have to be in tiny cages and why can't they be fed healthy diets. There is no good answer for any of those questions. All scientists can't be heartless pricks, some of them must care about animal welfare.

    When I was a PhD student I studied the behavior patterns between the Macaque and Orangutans. Macaque is an extremely social monkey and they need that social connection. I'm very surprised and upset hearing about these Macaques living alone. It's like they need to learn all over again to do the basics like grooming and learning the hierarchy within the group

      @@lottie9273 I remember back in the 70's our Zoo had a amazing primate care facility. We had a Gorilla named Sampson. He was a huge male Gorilla, and I mean HUGE! But on occasion the primate caretakers would bring out younger chimpanzees and a occasional orangutan. There is absolutely nothing that compares to holding a chimp in your arms, feeling his/her heartbeats, looking into those big eyes, tickling them and hearing them laugh. Their little hands and fingers, are INCREDIBLY STRONG AND POWERFUL! So inquisitive and so unique. Sadly once the charges in human nature happened, i.e. Let's file lawsuits against everyone who gave us a sliver or a hangnail. Although Chimps can become extremely dangerous as they get older so I understand why the zoo's stopped it. As cute and as fuzzy as they are as babies, their powerful hands, and extremely strong Jaws and teeth can cause major damage, but it was such an amazing experience to interact with a orangutan or a chimpanzee.

    These babies just melt my heart. They are so cute. What a wonderful place. The whole social dynamic of the chimps is really interesting. I'm wondering if in the wild a mother chimp didn't want her baby, would another female possibly step in, or would that never happen?

    • @cpujol9420
      @cpujol9420 Год назад

      They have certainly done that. And some females who don't have babies will kidnap another's baby and try to raise it. If kidnapper is of higher rank than mom, the mom may not try to get it back. If baby still dependant on mom's milk and kidnapper has none baby will starve to death. Is not unheard of. Chimps are something else!

    It breaks my heart to see these intelligent beautiful animals locked away in a little cage alone. That is abuse and I wish laws could change. I have seen small monkeys owned by people who are taken care of really well. These people knew and were prepared. Most people don't have a frikkin clue what they are getting into and the animal suffers. It just makes me cry because monkeys are so so similar to toddlers but their health and well being needs are different and people don't bother to find that out and pretend the monkey can be fed and treated completely like a child.

HOW ABT THAT!?!? You people have no idea because you are not from these Asian countries!!! We consider these just as viable & family pet, & you do dog or cat! I am Asian and all of these comments are racist in origin- NOTHING MORE! We have successfully raised monkeys as pets for LITERALLY 100’s OF YEARS!!!! YOU WANT TO SAY WE ARE ABUSING THEM!?!?! You are abusing your dogs $ cats b/c you keep them in your house. U bathe them. You take them from their mom/family! You hold them in your arms! SO WHAT IS IT WE ARE DOING DIFFERENTLY THAN YOU??? Absolutely nothing!!!!! That’s the proof that these hateful accusations are totally rooted in hatred & bigotry! Also they stem from a deep deep jealousy b/c you don’t have monkeys in your country to have as a pet- so you try to take our little blessings from us, by accusing each & everyone of us of “ABUSING” our little ones when many many many of the abandoned babies each year during the breeding season would die if left even 2 more hours alone…. These rescue babies become animals that live a life better than some human beings!!!!! It’s so unfair & sickening to listen to the: lies, distorted facts, false figures & data, & straight up RASICT FUELED MISINFORMATION that most continue to deliberately pass along as “facts” when you dont live in these Asian countries & therefore the bigotry continues!!!!
      SO VERY VERY SAD INDEED, BUT NOT FOR THE B,ABY MONKEYS, BUT FOR THE LOVING & KIND PPL WHO HAVE SO GRACIOUSLY SAVED THE BABY MONKEY AND PROVIDED A FANTASTIC HOME & LIFE FOR THESE DISCARDED UNLOVED ONES!

    It’s one thing to rescue animals from horrible situations, but don’t let them breed! You’re only creating more captive animals. You end up having to handraise most of these babies which is not what is best for them. The chimp groups are much too large, yet you continue to add to them. It’s ridiculous and heartbreaking. Stick to rescuing animals in need and care for them since they cannot be released. But for the love of god, stop breeding them!

    OMG.....Just move them, it shouldn't be this difficult. You probably take better care of these parasitic chimps than your own kids, I simply couldn't do this job, I have no compassion for something that may attack me one day.

      Reptiles and mammals are different. Mammals nurse and often need that nurturing which includes touch especially primates. Monkeys cling to their mothers. They are trying to simulate something to soother the infant. Clearly they are more educated than yourself.

    This dude thinks that chimp is dancing to avoid a dart? That chimp has no idea what's happening other than he doesn't like and is starting to get nervous. They all do that when they get agitated. The alpha males always do this when they display. This guy is trying to give them a bit too much credit.

    I love chimps, but for the safety of every other animal on the planet, including humans, they need to be separated as far as possible from everything else. These animals are so dangerous. They can flip for no reason at anytime and it happens with chimps at rates more than 25 times that of any other animal on the planet. Part of that is having such high levels of intelligence without strong limbic systems to process the emotion that goes with those thoughts. Rescuers and people who want to own these animals will always be in danger when around these animals.
