Join me at RAF Duxford for the Battle of Britain Show and I pay a special tribute to the USAAF and to all who gave their tomorrow for our today. The American museum inspired the special tribute and I get up close with the B-17 flying fortress and tell a special chivalrous true story that happened 80 years ago to the day from the date of this transmission on 20th December 1943. Following the bombing of the city of Bremen, Germany, Charlie Brown's B-17 bomber, ‘Ye Old Pub’, has suffered heavy damage. As he and his men scramble to get back to England, German fighter ace Franz Stigler begins his attack but shows them mercy.
I spend two nights and days at Duxford and talk about some of the camps and shows that I have enjoyed this autumn with friends.
Enjoy the air show and see the memorial to The Few and how together with our allies we turned the tide of WW2.
