I just bought a purple hammer and went for my best high series. It's so controllable... I could miss right with a little slower speed and it would push back into the pocket, miss inside and it would hold with enough angle to splatter the pins. Best ball in my bag right now for a learning bowler (< 2 years league).

And many say that ball won't hook lol. Threw a 245, 244, 196(split 10th frame) on fresh house shot last weekend with the OG. Got a new Purple Pearl ready to be drilled up, should be good!
First time watching you and love your presentation style. Subbed immediately. Really want a Purple Hammer but can't really justify it with my typical use right now.
Tank vs hammer please! Leaning more towards a hammer but curious on how they both react. Might be interesting to throw a desert tank a shot or two to compare it as well
My first " real " bowling ball was a Black Hammer bought in the early 80s , won lots of jackpots with that thing after establishing an average with the Ebonite Tornado .
I've started using my dad's Tornado from '68. It's in great condition. Can't get it to hook at all (even on dry real wood) so it is my spare shot ball for now. I would love to use it for everything but it isn't working unless I go to the straight from the right corner shot he taught me in the late 60's
@@disgustedvet9528 Tornado or Black Hammer? I have not been able to get the Tornado to hook a single board, even on dry real wood lanes. On the synth lane house it is nothing but a straight monster. Lots of power and pin carry, just straight no matter what.

I have the new PHU. And it is a breaking machine. Straight .. nope.. It is always breaking. Could be my drill, it's pin over the bridge, but it breaks and then it breaks again. I generally throw around 15-16mph and that could be a reason also. Fresh oil, no oil. Long pattern. Breaks. Short pattern. Breaks. Sometimes it gets to hard to control because of it. But I can line up from the 10 board, and move to the 20 board, doesn't matter, it breaks. Start with feet on the 12 board, and move to the 40 board. Doesn't matter. It moves. I love it.
@@LuisNapoles Even on fresh oil. Like ten minutes after the machine leaves the lane. Could be a weird ball. But I have had my friends try to throw it straight, and no one can. Even flat palm, it will go 40 feet straight, then break. I've never had a ball like this before. It's crazy. I have used that wierd back flip kind of thing where you release it and it kind of back spins toward you.. and that is the only time it didn't break. But other than that. It curves. Don't get me wrong. I love fresh heavy oil with this ball, I can play the right side of the lane, but only one game, then it's move left, move left, move left. I am coming to Vegas on June 26th. Maybe I will run into you at Samstown. You would get a kick outta this ball.
Due to the difference in release dates I have yet to see a comparison of the purple tank and the new purple hammer. Also, love your reviews and the format as always. Really enjoying seeing how the different brands shape for you. Can't wait to see more of the brands of brunswick
Hey Lou my dad has not only the current purple pearl hammer but the one that was made here in the usa before they were bought by Brunswick. And I agree the raw hammer doom is mine and my dad's favorite raw hammer.

First game out the box with the Purple Hammer was a 219. Lou...you should do a comparison of the Venom Shock vs the Zen. Two house shot killers would be great going head to head. Good info bro. Also nice job saying that urethane usually sucks there at Suncoast because it's true. I tried throwing my OLD Faball Black Hammer in there and it wasn't doing me any favors. Get to the pocket, it might not carry, worst case scenario was a 5-10. But it was well before I learned how to play the 2 board...👀😂 Looking forward to seeing/watching more content. And as you already know...Phaze 2 ball gud. 😁
Given how much you seemed to like the Purple Tank while as Motiv staffer, it would only be appropriate if you could compare the Purple Hammer redux to it. But it might be better, IMO, if you either drilled two fresh ones or used the Purple Hammer from this video more so you have a better comparison. And that’s not even taking the covers into account (with one being solid and the other pearl).
The purple hammer is great. Just getting back into the game after 15 years and threw 245, 223, and 239 with that ball. It probably helps that I'm left handed and do not get much traffic on that side. (house pattern)
I have a magenta urethane hammer that came out when the black hammer came out. My magenta urethane from 2000 abralon to 500 grit true cut / my faball blue pearl urethane took the Polish off and put to 500 true cut / and my black widow urethane at 220 grit wet sand paper on a ball spinner.( the other 2 are by hand
And next month I am drilling the purple pearl hammer up then the next month get my original black widow redone and after that my original cherry vibe redone then my rip'd pearl drilled up. The new purple is more shape more clean and ALOT sharper off the spot.
What would have been better is if the Black Widow Purple Pearl Urethane was released in the US. That ball versus a purple tank versus a pitch black would have been great.

hi lou, i’ve been wanting a urethane ball for a while now. i’m stuck between the pitch black and the purple hammer.. what do you think i should go with?
Would the purple hammer compliment the shock and/or fatal on THS medium to light oil (thin volume) during transition and dry for a backup righty bowler?
So urethane howling balls are not meant for light oil or the burn. The cover composition is designed to be incredibly early. So going to a urethane ball in those situations would be less than ideal.

What do you know about a LT-48 Gold? I had an original LT-48 way back when.
I don't know much about that ball at all
Yes.. good ball, it just hook a little to hard. Obsession tour gold pearl is my next choice
Nice
when you do the versatility test. which foot are you putting on 15, 25, and 35. just asking a dumb question
Not a dumb question! its my left foot
Hi Lou, how was it trying to cover a 10 pin spare? Pretty straight?
I don't use it for spares. I use a Mix for spares
@@LuisNapoles thanks! I was just curious about not adding a spare ball and using the Hammer for both
I wouldn't recommend it unless you throw it hard and end over end
@@silversilentrd thanks for that. I was just thinking that same thing. Appreciate it
How does this compare to the pitch black?
the Black will be earlier and smoother. Purple hammer will be a tad cleaner and shape more! Still be early and smooth just not as much as the pith black if that makes sense!
Would love to see Tank v Hammer Comparison.
I am on staff with 900 Global now so to won't be able to happen on this channel unfortunately
Definitely Purple hamner vs. Tank
DEF will happen!
Let get it it's going to be a tough video
Can’t wait to see how they stack up to each other!
The name of the cover is hybrid.
What cover?
@@LuisNapoles the Purple hammers cover.
Lou if you are moving left you are drifting back right. The first 5 shots I have seen so far you are finishing within 1 board of each other at the line...
Yea its a work in progress LOL My game is hella broken right now!
@@LuisNapoles Keep working on it and the hitch at the top of your backswing. That first shot in the regional video with the phase 2 it was almost gone so your timing was great.
@@splicedgene yea it’s weird it just comes ago goes 😂😂 when I’m really focused it’s gone
No way you’ll see this but did you use a different layout on the purple hammer then you did your normal reactive?
I did see this! Yea so for me I drill my urethanes much stronger than reactive
@@LuisNapoles I appreciate the response on such an old video. Was looking into urethane and you helped me out a lot with this answer thanks!
what are those grips in your finger holes?
Vise grips
tank vs hammer lets go
Let'ssssss go! !
When moving left I rarely hear you say things like "slowing it down a bit" or " moving 2-1 & throwing it a bit slower" or "dropping the speed" ? OOoooooooppps i heard you say "slow hooking it " is that the same ?
Kinda yea
Give us a comparison
Coming soon 💯
Why do you have a urathan layout?
I drill my urethane balls a little different than my regular balls because of the nature of the covers. With urethane I typically use Stronger pin to paps and lower VAL angles
Do it, tank vs hammer
100% Will happen! BOOK IT
I've heard the tank is smoother and cleaner than the tank. I have the purple tank
Have u thrown a hammer blue ?
I haven't no
