I remember this well. This was my secondary source for music videos back in the day after Toronto Rocks (RIP John Majhor), though I didn't like this show nearly as much and found they didn't play as much of the stuff I liked as Toronto Rocks did. But since our only other source of music videos at the time was the newly-minted MuchMusic, which was a pay TV channel back then that we couldn't afford, these were my go-tos.
I always loved watching Sam Taylor. She always played some good stuff on there. When you couldn't afford a basic cable package this was the next best thing. By the time there was another host on there I had lost interest in the show and then when Dan Gallagher took it further into the 1990s that's when I REALLY started to lose interest in the show. Along with Video Hits, there was Good Rockin' Tonite with TDM and Stu Jeffries and Toronto Rocks with The Maij. Then there was Metro Music, which I barely even remember.
Not exactly the same pizzazz as "Friday Night Videos" when it comes to opening graphics but I used to watch Sam in her after school time slot. I think I still watched "Good Rockin' Tonite" most of all, but as it coincided with "FNV" it was easy enough to go from one of those to the other. I also probably watched more music videos that way than I did when MuchMusic became readily available.
"Nasty" was released in April of '86, and Wham!'s last video ("I'm Your Man") was released in late '85; ergo, this Video Hits episode opening is from '86, not '87.
After Sam Taylor was Bryan Elliott and I didn't like him because he didn't have very much personality and then after Bryan, there was Dan Gallagher and that was that. I absolutely lost interest in the show after that.
wish we could go back to the 80's
Brings back memories of sitting by the boom box tuned into CBC Radio with my finger on the record button.
I always loved Sam Taylor’s voice
Need a time machine to go back to good ol 1985.

They couldn’t have chosen a better song for the opening theme! Jump by Van Halen! 👍
Samantha Taylor. Definitely sweet eye candy.😊

This was all we had in Northern Ontario before we were able to get Much on cable!
