This brings me back to childhood. I remember seeing this odd movie on a shelf in a blockbuster, there was something about the steam billowing in the background that I found alluring and on a whim I begged my mom to let me rent it. I remember watching it for the first time and being blown away by the amount of fantastic imagination that went into the design ascetic. It was the first exposure I had to anime and it left an everlasting impression on me. I to this day have dreams that involve impossible contraptions running on steam and coal, and it's partly the reason I chose to become an engineer. I have so much to thank this movie for, it affected my life in such a profound way and when I hear this melody all I can do is smile. Thank you for posting this.
Everytime i hear this i just want togo back and rewatch the movie it triggers me to want to watch it over and over again but if you found this soundtrack amazing go listen to a song called Adventure of a Lifetime I think you may find a bit of the moivie in the song.
Honestly speaking, something similar happened to me as well. First time I saw it was at a rental store. The movie I had hoped to get was already checked out by someone else and I was told to look around for something else to watch by my mom. I saw the cover of this and nearly went deathly silent as I just looked at it. The cover alone enticed me to watch the movie. Best choice my 10 year old self ever made, if I had to be honest.
This was in the movie previews on my Spirited Away DVD and I had always wanted to see it, around 2011 I found Crackle and watched it, I was absolutely blown away, I rewatched it more recently and it is still one of my absolute favorites.
Shanack It is such an underrated film tragically. Fans were expecting another Akira, but got something completely different. To me in the absolute best way.
0:35 I have played the sims 4, when i watch this movie, there is a familiar music in this part. It turns out, the maker of this music is the same person who made the music in the sims 4
Una película entretenida y tanto engranaje que me llamo mucho la atención,excelente animación ,los mismo creadores de Akira un clásico El tema músical es emocionantes.
Such a shame this movie was not a bigger hit. It has all the makings of a timeless animated classic and yet... 1.1 million dollars went down the drain. *Sigh* I guess Steampunk will never be as big as other forms of science fiction. Just look at Treasure Planet, Future Boy Conan, Warehouse 13, Tin Man, hell! even Doctor Who isn't a household name just yet!!!
Bioshock Infinite is probably the closest thing to a commercially successful steampunk work, though it just tenuously manages to stay within the victorian period, but definitely containing many of the aesthetics, motifs, and themes of steampunk.
I hope you know it took almost 50 years for some shows to even be acknowledged or even some movies it took 100 years but one movie stands out amoung all else the movie from 1986 Hayao Miyazaki film *"Castle in the Sky"* if it wasn't for that movie this movie would not even exist today and Steampunk wouldn't exist either but thanks to 1 film and countless years of Anime before even the 20th century all of this wouldn't exist. These films feed our imagination for what is hidden can always be found in your dreams.
The One and Only Kronos Don't forget Galaxy Express 999! Though it wasn't technically a part of the steampunk genre, the storyline skips around similarities. And while not a huge hit in the West, it is still treasured in Japan. But I also lament the Western lack of appreciation for such artistry.
In Steamboy there's something remember me Laputa and something else remember me Akira. And all fix together perfectly! (And the ending ain't as good as you can figure)

I saw this film yesterday and gosh, it was the best I've watched in a while. I regret nothing.
Honestly, this theme gives me vibes of the Captain America (2011) movie and I love it.

We can only hope that future projects like Arkangedor will restore fame to the genre...

@@I-KNIGHT-OF-RUclips-I Don't be a git- call the film by its proper title: Laputa, and not the crappy one Disney gave it for their dub.
沒想到蒸氣男孩竟然也是Steve Jablonsky的作品!意外驚喜!

is this really from the soundtrack? or is this a concert?
Spirit and Opportunity Yeah, I edited this together from the soundtrack album.
actual soundtrack, but it's a medley of songs rather than the songs beginning to end.
What are their names?
