This is the soundtrack I fell asleep to in high school (I've been an insomniac THAT long...lol). Absolutely love this song, which has its roots in Scotland as "The Gael". It is hard to explain it, but it sings to my soul somehow...
This is literally the best song for cross country running. I was running in a wooded area of a local park doing mile repeats with hills and I was listening to this while I was running. It’s just epic!
The first scene of this film, hunting the dear and the prayer for it and the image of the bridge and its reflection has been embossed in my soul. The respect they had for all living and all existing......I wish we all lived by their code of honor
I remember listening to this years ago when I was feeling low over a love I was losing. The melody became a mantra for me, helping me to take one day at a time. I lost the girl but found myself through music. This soundtrack is just one part of a longer path toward home.
I used to fall asleep to this soundtrack. It's been my heart strength support for 2 decades at least. The entire soundtrack, every song is a vibration that's healing. It's gotten me through many many heavy life stories. Should be played in schools , break the mental illness cycles and give people true intense music instead of social media addiction. Anyway, yeah...I literally own the movie and soundtrack since I was 16. Gives me all the feels Makes my heart happy.
Perfectly put. I too have owned the movie since age 15 and I'm 40 now. I love both the film and all its music too. Yes, this is much better than social media.
It checks all the boxes as a great song to run to: 1. the beat matches a pace of ~ 180 steps per minute. 2. clear repeating segment that you don’t get tired of 3. strong emotive content that helps you overcome discomfort 4. you become the last of your tribe, running to save your love
It's not a funeral song. It's a song that speaks of love through trials. Isn't that what marriage is? Fighting to stay in love throughout the trials of life? And in the crescendo can't you hear love's triumph? I fully support this as a wedding march.
This is what my friend Bod Davison had played as last music at his funeral. You were a great and good friend. May your soul rest in peace. For a man who loved all types of music this is an accolade to Kiss. R.I.P Bobtheslob
This is part of the tune "The Gael" by Scottish singer-songwriter Dougie MacLean, a fantastic and moving piece. The full song is just as beautiful as this regrettably short portion. Pass the word along!
My husband loves this song, so I made sure that we danced to it at our wedding. My late mother loved this song too, and was happy that we played it. I have the soundtrack for this and Clannad's I Will Find You.
this song is absolutely beautiful. at my local theatre we are preforming williams window and i am choreographing a few ballroom scenes in the show. we are using this for romeo and juliet and im so excited to be working with such beautiful music
nandohrevenguver the fact is that i heard this music 9 years ago and never after that, so i never had the opportunity to use shazam, then i heard it on a video, i asked for the name and somebody told me
First time I heard this song was at honor hill, ft benning. Hearing it brings back those memories, and I can remember that night / morning like it was yesterday. Chills man.
I was lucky and heard this song performed by a big symphonic orchestra. The part, when all the orchestra starts quitly in the background together with the violin solo and continues with its full power was really amazing experience .. Beautiful soundtrack ..
I cant explain the emotions & feelings that i get when i listen to this song but it blows me away, makes me think of far away places & has an energy and presence that is completely majestic.
I actually climbed Chimney Rock in North Carolina (the film was made in the Great Smokey Mountains) with my family. I listened to this song on my cellphone. If you haven't done it, I can't recommend it enough. That place is pristinely beautiful. Add in music like this... all I can say is INCREDIBLE.
I saw this movie and listend and bought this soundtrack at a time in my life when I was a young man and deeply in love with a person who no matter what never saw me the way I wish she would. Now as a man passing close to middle age I long for the days of feeling the passion of love and wanting to be with a person I can share my heart with. Those days are gone for me now, and that experience helped kill it.
Love is the most important thing. It's the only thing we have. Be it platonic or otherwise. Strive to love. It will make you happy. And it's the only thing worth striving for.
It's your responsibility to.protect your heart and not become callused. One only need to make a decision that no matter what happens to me other people's actions will not mold me. Innocence is lost not taken.
Funny how music evokes different emotions out of different people. This is one of my very favorite pieces of music of all time, but it takes me to a heart wrenching place. I tear up every time I hear it.
"My compliments sir! Take the girls and get out!" My wife and I cried, we were so moved. We hated the captain, but damn if that wasn't the most heroic suicide I ever saw
To anyone that doesnt like this song, im sorry its not an autotuned rap. This song is beautiful, so if you were one of the people who disliked this video, your opinion sucks. Have a nice day.
One of the finest scores I ever heard, beehives, Bach, motzart, chaikovski(sp.e) and all the ones I can't think of. That violin piece if everything it's nothing, it's all encompassing, it's God's love, it's Satan's lies It is both life and death Love and hope
Remember the day I first saw this movie, I went out and bought the Soundtrack very next day! Probaly the Best Movie of all times, The ending is unforgetable the music incredible. No mather how many times I see it, it still moves me so much. It makes me sad , It makes me thoughtfull and it somehow makes me happy in the end of it all.
A creator god smiled when this song was fetched. We as humans create such misery and destruction, but also, every once in a while, we can create something so profoundly fine.
@huggajon Thank you! Not a lot of people recognize Mr. MacLean as the sole provider of this INCREDIBLE violin composition. It's so soothing, and it matched the scenes it was in so brilliantly...I hoped he would have gotten SOMETHING for having his music in the movie..
OMG!!! FINALLY I FOUND THISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS HAS BEEN DRIVING ME NUTSS FROM PAST FEW DAYS!! IT WAS PLAYING NON STOP IN MY HEAD AND I COULDNT FIGURE OUT WHAT THIS WAS CALLED!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH A MOMENT OF PEACE FOR ME AT LAST!!!
Listen to this song with headphones, if you let yourself get lost in the music it will take you to a a place of absolute peace and you forget about all your troubles in this world
the finest soundtrack in history and the finest last 15 minutes ever made in a movie
U still do that
@Luanne. You are 100% spot on
Agreed
This is the soundtrack I fell asleep to in high school (I've been an insomniac THAT long...lol). Absolutely love this song, which has its roots in Scotland as "The Gael". It is hard to explain it, but it sings to my soul somehow...
So emotional... Every time I hear this song i can't stop remember the emotion that make me drop tears from my old eyes. Every f.. G time.
one of the most amazing soundtracks ever created.........makes my heart fly and cry at the same time......
Same here. You are so right!
Well said
Totally right 😣
The soundtrack was ok. It was the theme people liked, but the theme isn’t original. The main melody was taken from Dougie MacLeans song the Gael.
you gotta right, Brother, you gotta right!
One of the absolute most moving and beautiful songs ever crafted.
in high school i will be able to play this piece in 2 years 🙏
This is literally the best song for cross country running. I was running in a wooded area of a local park doing mile repeats with hills and I was listening to this while I was running. It’s just epic!
When I trained ROTC cadets we jammed it on repeat on a boom box I carried while we did our ruck sack marches.
Played this at my Mums funeral, it still makes me cry to this day.Missing you Mum xx
Connell MacCool my condolences
Thank you for your kind words x
I'm really sorry for your mum man...really, I hope anyway you'll have an happy life ;)
Thank you! We are all Scottish and Irish and this song played well to our Celtic roots.
Thank you!
The first scene of this film, hunting the dear and the prayer for it and the image of the bridge and its reflection has been embossed in my soul. The respect they had for all living and all existing......I wish we all lived by their code of honor
Agreed.

I discovered this whilst searching for my father, after a while discovered hed passed so now has a deeper meaning.
Wrong... but well intentioned...

Running with a tomahawk?
When I trained ROTC cadets we played this on repeat with a boom box when we did ruck sack marches.
Used this at my wedding yesterday, was bloody epic!
Congratulations on your wedding 🎉
My favorite movie of all time...absolute perfection. The most beautiful soundtrack with the stunning scenery is mesmerizing.

Very well said. I agree.
Such a beautiful piece of music! They played this at my aunties funeral last week! A very moving and emotional tune... R.I.P Betty xxx

Still here in 2024
Almost makes me want to go off and dance in an autumnal forest somewhere in the wilderness. Beautiful music ♥️

i had been searching for this for at least 8 years, i have finally found it!
Also check out "Promentory" from the same soundtrack. Basically this same song.....but about twice the length. Fantastic song!
8 years? Probably it was not the most active search... Especially given that I have spent like 8 minutes maybe ;d
nandohrevenguver the fact is that i heard this music 9 years ago and never after that, so i never had the opportunity to use shazam, then i heard it on a video, i asked for the name and somebody told me
i heard this in 1992 and never forgot it.
N K 😂
it's amazing how an instrument can express so much passion! love this
This song just oozes of passion
Je le joue a la scie
First time I heard this song was at honor hill, ft benning.
Hearing it brings back those memories, and I can remember that night / morning like it was yesterday. Chills man.
I was looking for a comment like this 😭 "Drill Sargeants! Prepare to pin the cross rifles!"
I was lucky and heard this song performed by a big symphonic orchestra. The part, when all the orchestra starts quitly in the background together with the violin solo and continues with its full power was really amazing experience .. Beautiful soundtrack ..

jesus christ man you almost made me cry with comment....feel the heart man...its your truth
Deep.
An old soldier here, was losing hope in humanity, then read the comments here. Faith replenished.
Thank you for your sacrifices and burdens. Welcome home.
Listened to this with my eyes closed. I felt as I was out of this world with a surge of emotions going through me. This is majestic
"What are you looking at, sir?"
"I'm looking at you, miss."
(Insert passionate tension-breaking wartime necking)
Wasn't that the best line in that movie?? Now THAT is a guy who really wants her.
Amazing line
I swear it’s the best ever! The love we all want! 😭😭
The line only works if your not ugly.
I didn't care about Nathaniel & Cora. Uncas & Alice love is more interesting. Unfortunately the movie director cut their scenes
Most beautiful violin solo EVER!
being on top of honor hill with this song blasted knowing you’re finish with all the training is an amazing feeling.
Ong😊

Loved this song ever since I rented this on VHS. Perfect for serious contemplating about what's going on today.
i was still watching vhs tapes as of about 3 yrs also
Essa música é uma obra de arte!
concordo!!
I can listen to this over and over and over again......
I miss 90s movies like this.
The track is called 'The Gael' (as in Gaelic) and was composed by Dougie MacLean from Perthshire, Scotland, in 1990.
Great song, great movie! I can't believe people disliked this!!!!

There is much potential in humanity...the capacity for love...or hate. For compassion...or arrogance...
Maravilho instrumental!! Maravilhosa melodia!! Eu gosto muito!! Brasil - Minas Gerais
Luckily are the ones able to travel with theirs hearts while listening to this masterpiece...
ran through the woods of yellowstone national park while listening to this once. never regretted it.
I love the Scottish touch in this, very warrior like. Heroic and noble, the kind of way I'd like to be.
