This is the soundtrack I fell asleep to in high school (I've been an insomniac THAT long...lol). Absolutely love this song, which has its roots in Scotland as "The Gael". It is hard to explain it, but it sings to my soul somehow...
So emotional... Every time I hear this song i can't stop remember the emotion that make me drop tears from my old eyes. Every f.. G time.
This is literally the best song for cross country running. I was running in a wooded area of a local park doing mile repeats with hills and I was listening to this while I was running. It’s just epic!
When I trained ROTC cadets we jammed it on repeat on a boom box I carried while we did our ruck sack marches.

The soundtrack was ok. It was the theme people liked, but the theme isn’t original. The main melody was taken from Dougie MacLeans song the Gael.

I used to fall asleep to this soundtrack. It's been my heart strength support for 2 decades at least. The entire soundtrack, every song is a vibration that's healing. It's gotten me through many many heavy life stories. Should be played in schools , break the mental illness cycles and give people true intense music instead of social media addiction.
Anyway, yeah...I literally own the movie and soundtrack since I was 16. Gives me all the feels Makes my heart happy.
Perfectly put. I too have owned the movie since age 15 and I'm 40 now. I love both the film and all its music too. Yes, this is much better than social media.
I remember listening to this years ago when I was feeling low over a love I was losing. The melody became a mantra for me, helping me to take one day at a time. I lost the girl but found myself through music. This soundtrack is just one part of a longer path toward home.

It's not a funeral song. It's a song that speaks of love through trials. Isn't that what marriage is? Fighting to stay in love throughout the trials of life? And in the crescendo can't you hear love's triumph? I fully support this as a wedding march.

I was lucky and heard this song performed by a big symphonic orchestra. The part, when all the orchestra starts quitly in the background together with the violin solo and continues with its full power was really amazing experience .. Beautiful soundtrack ..

I saw this movie and listend and bought this soundtrack at a time in my life when I was a young man and deeply in love with a person who no matter what never saw me the way I wish she would. Now as a man passing close to middle age I long for the days of feeling the passion of love and wanting to be with a person I can share my heart with. Those days are gone for me now, and that experience helped kill it.

Funny how music evokes different emotions out of different people. This is one of my very favorite pieces of music of all time, but it takes me to a heart wrenching place. I tear up every time I hear it.
I actually climbed Chimney Rock in North Carolina (the film was made in the Great Smokey Mountains) with my family. I listened to this song on my cellphone. If you haven't done it, I can't recommend it enough. That place is pristinely beautiful. Add in music like this... all I can say is INCREDIBLE.
