@@createmistakes does it even work tho
@@Pollymichaelis it’s hard to tell without seeing her sales figures but there are consumers out there who gravitate towards this ‘anti corruption mindset’ so am sure her ‘going it alone’ persona has an audience. Personally I think if she came across a tad less arrogant in her original ‘I quit Disney’ video while keeping her ‘anti establishment’ angle then I think she would be way more successful since people love to support underdogs, which is why most youtubers (even the big ones) frame themselves as underdogs who need YOUR help to fight the dreaded algorithm.
@@createmistakes As an independent creator I feel like she is very self-unaware. If you look at all of the popular creators like PewDiePie and Ethan here they are all very self aware, they build other people up, have a sort of humour and they don't take themselves very seriously. It's true for any long standing creators. To me she is clearly unaware of her privileges, has a naive view of the animation industry and isn't really putting out any content of value? She says she teaches art entrepreneurship but who would want to learn from... this... Marketing yourself as a bitter quitter. Okay that's quite enough, I'd rather work on my own stuff than commenting on other people's business, I do wish her good luck tho, and I'd want to watch some of her indie animation shorts if she ever creates any in the future
@@Pollymichaelis tbf just because you like youtubers like Ethan who is humble (out of character) doesn’t mean the only way to be successful is to be the ‘nice humble person’. You just have to look at the likes of keemstar and Logan Paul to see that viewers like controversial characters which is what she is trying to do but badly I may add. Even Ethans persona is a satire on the over the top larger than life arrogant characters you find on this website. Your other example PewDiePie has done his fair share of contraveral stunts and drama but unlike her Pewds is very good at putting out his fires.
What’s wrong with being privileged? Are you jealous or something? Personally I find her annoying but she doesn’t have to be humble just to please strangers on the internet like me and you. If she wants to play the edgy cool girl gimmick then all the power to her if she can make it work because the two people I mentioned earlier have made the edgy cool guy gimmick work for them.
Your probably right about her being naive tbh I’ll give you that. I also agree that her content isn’t for me but there is an audience for drama/look at me I need attention crowd. I said in the comment section of this video that she is skilled and if she just relaxed a bit and just drew some of the cool shit she is capable of while keeping her persona then she might actually start getting somewhere because there are people who will gravitate towards her lone wolf anti-establishment stick.
I will end with what I think I said to someone earlier which is not everything you like will be enjoyed by others and some of the things you don’t like will surprising have an audience so as long as she’s not hurting anyone just leave her and her hand full of fans be.
Does she know independent animation exists? I would have thought that someone like her who wants to quit the industry/commercial world would want to create her own stories and short films. I guess she just wants to be forever known as the "girl who quit Disney" instead of "girl who quit Disney and made a kick-ass short film."
Exactly! she could become a freelancer and studios would commission her, or she could create a comic book of her 'ideas' and maybe it will become famous and get adapted to a cartoon or something by any company, it doesn't have to be Disney
Yeah indie studios are pretty chill too
I think designing tshirts, hoodies and merchandise fits her more ... more than animation
She had her reasons, we cannot be that sure about her choices, only god knows what goes inside her head, if it was my own situation tho, I'd just go home and gather a couple of dudes with some experience in animation and carry out some sort of come-back answer to Disney in the form of an original animation.
Thats what don bluth did. Where his bad rap video 🤔

Yup. This is really bad.
Nah this is fine I hardly cringed watching this. It should be entertaining to react to another one.
it's pretty bad, but it's also pretty harmless. i can't even remember half the adult film stars i thought were my favorites from 10 years ago, so this definitely won't stick
Honestly if she continues to market herself this way she'll always be known as the "artist who quits Disney" with no real work of value to back it up... Sure she can draw better than most hobbyist / beginning artists, but honestly her art doesn't really stick out to me, and talent is overflowing on the internet these days. The only thing that makes her stick out right now is that "she has quit Disney". At the end of the day it's unprofessional and marketing yourself as a quitter sounds bitter and uninspiring.
P.s. I hope she can let go of this whole Disney thing and go on her own path!
I agree, seems like she's showing herself up intentionally as "Disney Quitters", even she put that line on her bio
@other shadoruto I think she really got into Disney and quit if she lied about this someone would have outed her already
Someone needs to keep saying it though. Good for Janet.
I work in animation and have had the worst time in it so far. Short contracts for jobs, I have been paid less than others in same role, director had made unwanted advances on me. My tv pitch was ruined by a studio after they took the IP I had worked on for years, and the hours of unpaid overtime I have had to do over the years is unreal.
I can’t say anything because I’ll get blacklisted as it’s such a tiny community, and people will react the same way they have done with Janet, which is victim blaming, calling me unprofessional, not talented enough and naive. But. good. for. Janet. for doing so.
People need to stop white knighting these giant corporations and support the artists who are being taken advantage by them.
@@mmmk5385 I am sorry for your experience, the industry definitely has its dark side. I have no problem with Janet calling out the industry, more of her using "quitting Disney" as her personal brand. The first viral video should get her the clout and she should keep producing/maintain a portfolio of work. If you look at her twitter she's more of a keyboard warrior than artist...
I genuinely didn't know anymore what layer of irony we're on. Was Ethan serious? Does he support her? Do we appreciate her making a very non-flowing rap song that is essentially just a long, weird rant which just further manifests her entire identity revolving around how a multi million dollar company didn't make her head honcho on day one?

I can kinda sorta understand her frustration...kinda but it's really hard to be empathetic when all she has done is throw a fit, attack other artists for "copying" her work and now this poorly written angry rap video? I love supporting other artists and I want to be there for people who are struggling cause I'm definitely one of those people but her constant rudeness to the art community and the golden pedestal she's put herself on is annoying. Yes she seems to be working really REALLY hard at her craft and because she's not reaching the level of fame that she expected right out of college she throws a tantrum. There are so many people in the same boat!!! If you're constantly whining that people aren't buying your merch or following you maybe you should take a step back and look at the bigger picture. No one wants to interact with a spoiled stuck up artist.
I feel like she took this "experience" and gave up art to rap-vent. If she is gonna go and make her own animation or something, then I am like, cool. But she really so far have just been stuck up, honestly. I mean, Disney isn't even the only company.
Yeah, like, she's not wrong for being angry at the way things are. Shit's fucked. Corporations have way too much power, the comodification of art is gross and artists are treated like shit, but writing an uncomfortable rap where you brag about nothing and shit on everyone else isn't gonna make a meaningful difference to your life. She'd be way better off using the connections she has to find other artists and start a co-op studio where she would have a fair amount of control and creative input.

I went and checked out the rest of her channel, and honestly, I think she's desperately clinging onto the "I quit disney" title as long as she can. The difference between her videos about quitting disney and her other videos is HUGE. Thot leader got like 31K views, while her other videos get only hundreds of views. Anyways, I truly think this is just a rich girl shitting on people for having jobs in companies that love to exploit them. I agree it's shit to put your blood sweat & tears into something and barely get anything for it, but also most of us aren't privileged enough to randomly quit jobs just cause we wanted to.
He was so nice about the song. Yeah the cinematography was good.
I don't get it, wasn't her whole bit about quitting Disney was that she could never get to do her own show. Clearly she's got skill if she could work for Disney. Why not make her own little web series or short?
Exactly - it's bullshit. Anyone with a tablet and some software can make something happen with enough elbow grease. Hazbin Hotel is a great example of an independent animated TV show that garnered INSANE attention. The quality of the writing is debatable... but I don't really care about any of that, I'm just saying - it could work. She could make it work... But she's just... complaining.
I share this thought.
That's because that way you get a free pass to disney or any company resources, if a studio green lights your project you probably just put your idea and designs over the table and you + a bunch of animators will put the work into animating it, animation 2D even digital with the traditional style (drawing frame by frame) it's almost like working at a maquiladora/ensamble factory.
The same applies to the 3D if not even worse because you need a high end gamer-like pc to run the softwares that can renderize the 3D, normally depending on the amount of detail they put a person or team of person to anime just 1 character... and that way it takes years to complete, in both cases, even if her idea was a simplistic style like lets say Gravity Falls, it still takes like a full year of a huge team to put the animation to tv.
There was this dude on YT that made a 2D Star Wars video anime style, it was like 5-7 minutes, it took him around 2 years to make it on his own.
Not exactly supporting her, but i kinda understand why she hasn't out anything out yet.
@@ZedAmadeus lots of reasons why not to. funding equivalent to thousands, years of education from staff, staff who are willing to work on less than average pay/for free
Not everyone has the privilege of time + money or a social media following support for that. For every one pilot like hazbin hotel that has been successful and turned into a show, there are thousands of ones rejected by networks. I’ve been in meetings with rejected pilots and it can be for things like the fact they already have an action show, and don’t want another for 5-10 years.
These artists that have been rejected will have lost thousands of hours and possibly thousands of dollars through creating the pilot.
She has every right to complain, the industry is tough.
Because it’s expensive and people have bills & taxes to pay. For every one successful webseries, there’s thousands of failed ones where creators have lost a lot of money in the process.
Even if it were to be picked up by a network after from a pilot episode, a network after buying the IP can KICK the original creator off the project and replace them with one of their own showrunners. I have seen this happen.
This is because these kind of creators who make content outside of animation, have no experience within the industry, so some networks don’t have faith they will be a good show runner for the project so will replace them with someone inside the industry.
In this case it can be that the creator is not happy because they can’t work on the show they made, and the show runner isn’t happy, because they aren’t able to work their own ideas.
Everything is stacked against creators in animation at the moment and it is really sad to see.
This music video is sure… one of a kind
Janet, I get that the culture in the studio sucks and the industry has issues, we don’t like it either, but some of us actually have bills to pay… By ourselves. The title of “smalldick exc’s doormat” is a little unwarranted if not a lot rude lol.

I wish I could have made a rap video after quitting my first grown up job, too. I think the lyrics would have been pretty similar to this, lol.
Man, what a plot twist
The last time I was this early Ethan was a student.
I’m not familiar with anything I just witnessed. I reckon Ethan would be a wonderful therapist though 😀
honestly I love the energy in this video. Ethan is like YESSS but also sweating at the non-PC lyrics like "ok maybe don't say that"
I thought I was being gaslit into liking that song and almost started to believe it until I went to the comments. Never felt so relieved.
her bar about debt is annoying seeing as shes from a privileged background and also because SHE was at disney meaning if she had debt she wouldve paid it off anyway with money to spare
*Theory:* Ethan made this video so that you don't need to watch her video and give it views

JK love your content Ethan!!!
I’m thinking Disney was her very first job… sheltering children can really ruin them.
That was so cringey i need to do go … cry and throw up

she's onto something
Her ending her rap with “BUY MY MERCH!” made me laugh 😂
This woman, ironically, has proved that she isn't a good fit--a bad employee
She's arrogant and can't work in a team.
I'd put getting on with others more important than ability.
Ability can improve, but not being able to get along in a team--major flaw.
I love seeing you back Ethan, I watched you a while ago and I came back, I love your tips and they have really helped to improve, seeing you doing more diverse content is really comforting, I totally want to see more of you :)
Man, I want Ethan to rip on me. I guess I'll get a job at Disney, quit, and then make a rap video about it.
Oh… oh dear. She sure does need some support.
It seems they didn't invite her back to the industry
Man i really miss ethan, and his tips, and jokes, he was really funny, and educational, man why do people ruin things sometimes man
@Monke sama He was killed by haters .
Ethan is really nice by saying its a gud music (flow, and etc)
I thought the beat was pretty okay, but it seemed like she was tryna force the flow tbh. The verses felt out of place
Thank you ethan, you came back yay! hope your having a good day
'Knee livers' lmao💀
When knees evolve to have livers and other organs
So I'm usually very against making fun of ppl for being cringe, like ppl can go be ridiculous and go do harmless stupid shit all they want and we should let them but man... this is so cringe, it's hard to watch god
God this made me appreciate how much more talented all those random copycat rappers on trending actually are...
Absolute MadLad... moving from Art to Music video reviews... RESPECT!! :)
yo Ethan when are the portfolio reviews gonna be back bro
@Im_bored_877 dunno I checked it out myself and it really is just clips :(
My girl Janet got the whole Disney afternoon sweating.
2pac was really silent when this dropped. Damn.
now we wait tell mickey makes a reposed with his own rap
What is the worst physical pain you've ever been through?
Almost having my leg finger cut off
Knowing this rap exist
Left ball punched with full force
@@Zefpyhr wtf is a leg finger? Hahaha Yo mean a toe?
Got stab through the forehead
"the lighting is lit" trueee
