I think you mean Elite vs College level. A professional gymnast is a paid athlete vs an amateur--who is non-paid. Before NIL, if a gymnast turned pro (paid through brand deals and ad revenue) they were unable to participate at the college level. Some gymnasts, prior to 2021 forfeited collegiate in order to become brand influencers.
There are some coaches who bought into the training style of the Karolyi's, but not all bought into that and most certainly all didn't know their gymnasts were being groomed and molested. Many of the youngsters didn't even realize they were being molested.
I suggest, as you stated, that people watch the docs, stop victim blaming, and siding with abusers for medals. Innocence was stolen. Pointing at coaches doesn't absolve the USAG which is why they were sued. They gave the Karolyi's a lot of control with nary an oversite.
Simone I believe is the last survivor gymnast who is still competing. So, if you come for her in any capacity regarding her mental health and you do it in the presence of any survivor of that regime, expect to get that smoke.

If you are going to blame the Karoly's you have to blame every coach who took their athletes to the ranch. They knew what the atmosphere was like at the ranch and said nothing.
