WNBA Legends Are Already Jealous Of Caitlin Clark...

  • Caitlin Clark has taken the women’s game to new heights, and is the most entertaining player the sport has ever seen, but the legends of the game don’t seem to like it. There have been multiple WNBA legends to speak out negatively against Clark, and honestly it’s just disappointing. Here you have the all-time scoring leader in women’s college history, who has tripled viewership records, and is finally bringing women’s hoops to the forefront. But rather than being excited for the change she can bring, they want to discredit her. I guess it’s comforting to know the women’s game has old heads too, like the 80s and 90s NBA players who will say LeBron isn’t even top 5. Breanna Stewart, who is a college legend in her own right, going 151-5 including four straight national championships, was asked if Cailtin Clark needed to win a national championship to be considered one of the greats in women’s college basketball history. In what I would call a shocking response, she said that she does. Respectfully to Breanna Stewart, she couldn’t be any more wrong. Clark is the all-time leading scorer, a top-10 assist leader, and has led Iowa to two straight national title games. Her legacy is cemented. Clark taking Iowa to the title game is more impressive than any one of Stewart’s titles playing on absurdly stacked teams at UConn. In 2016 alone, Stewart’s UConn team had 7 other future WNBA players on it. SEVEN. Clark might be Iowa’s only one. Shifting from Stewart, Diana Taurasi, who is a WNBA legend, was on the alternate broadcast for Iowa’s national semis game vs Uconn and had fans in disbelief. Not only did she say she’d rather have Paige Bueckers than Caitlin Clark, she said that Clark is in for a rude awakening when she reaches the WNBA level. Is she though? Both of the last two number one picks have been all-stars in the rookie season, and when it comes to the level of prospects they are, Clark is heads and shoulders above any other recent top selection. There is no welcome to the WNBA moment, or strict learning curve, so I’m not sure what Taurasi is talking about. WNBA legends are already jealous of Caitlin Clark.
    Think about subbing, I'm on the road to 14k!!!

    I think y'all are kinda blowing this out of proportion. Stewie's comment was straightforward and fair, a lot of players really do agree with what she said. I don't know why you'd think she would be jealous as opposed to just answering the question, especially as someone who won four rings. DT's comment I can see as being a bit shady but no big deal. Stop treating Caitlin like a baby who can't handle it. If anything DT said something worse to Angel Reese and of course y'all don't care about that. Don't be so sensitive, Caitlin will be good.

    • @bigherm24
      @bigherm24  6 месяцев назад +5

      Neither comment was fair. Saying Caitlin isn’t already great is absurd, she’s the all time leading scorer in NCAA HISTORY. DT’s comment wasn’t just shady it’s also flat out wrong. Zero history of harsh adjustments to the WNBA

    • @ml.9417
      @ml.9417 6 месяцев назад +2

      @@bigherm24yea see you’re misunderstanding Stewie’s comment. The journalist made it clear that she was asking the question in line with ongoing discourse about where Caitlin ranks in the greatest of all time standings for college women’s players. Stewie wasn’t saying she’s not already great in general lol, come on. Breanna Stewart also explained her stance by using the perspective of how players themselves define and perceive their own legacy. There definitely is a dialectic distinction between being “one of the greats” and “being great”
      And yea I can see DT’s comment as being more ill intentioned even though you saying there’s zero history of harsh adjustment to the WNBA is absolutely ludicrous lol. WBNA players have already talked about experiencing difficulty adjusting. Just a few days on twitter there was an entire large thread of WBNA players talking about their ‘come to reality’ moments after coming from college.

      Sue Bird didn't say anything negative about Caitlin Clark and all Breanna Stewart said was that to be considered a GOAT you have to win championships. Her opinion. Doesn't mean she's jealous of Clark. If you know Diana Taurasi, you know she can be brash. But her comments aren't wrong. Caitlin and the other rookies will definitely have an adjustment period in the W. I understand your wanting to stick up for Clark but Sue Bird, Breanna Stewart, and Diana Taurasi are on the Mt. Rushmore of college women's basketball and they and women's basketball were far from an afterthought when they played. Sue and Diana played on 5 Olympic teams. Now, having said that, Caitlin Clark absolutely brought tons of new eyes to the women's game and was a phenomenon these past couple of years. She helped grow the game for sure.

    I understand jealousy but its how you deal with it. Jealousy can be a great motivator. There are people I would say I am jealous of but my jealousy is I wish I could be more like them because I admire what they do, have done or there potenial. But I do not hate the person. If these other woman who are jealous don't realize Baskeball is a team sport and not a me game they are losers. Jerry Rice probably the greatest reciever in the NFL needed a Great player like Joe Montanna as Quaterback who needed a great line and great defense to win games. I think these women who want to destroy a gifted talant because of thier ego is crazy if it bothers you become better. I don't know but when I play against a better player not matter what it is I thrive on the competitian and they make me better at what I am doing. Its also a learning experince and we all can learn something new. Its seems like some of these women are willing to sacrafice winning, more recognition, more money because someone may be better or getting a little recognition. Tom Brady gave up more money so the the Patriots could spend it on better players. Is it any wonder why he is one of the best. He understood its about winning not his ego. I was very impressed by that. I enjoy watching someone who is good at what they do. Catlin Clark got a non Basketball fan like me to watch womens basketball. Heck she is fun to watch,.
