    Caitlin is hands down great, a phenom. Her demeanor on and off court, her respect for other players, especially her teammates, speaks to a mindset that encompasses more than the game and her roll in it. She elevates the game, it players and the fans of the game and she enriches all of that. And she bears the spotlight with tremendous dignity.

    We all want to be proud of our kids, I can't imagine what it's like for parents of a child who has done something spectacular-including basketball, that has captured the hearts of millions of people-at least according to the viewers of the final 4 last year. Caitlin's dad Brent is always so calm, cool, and collected whenever the camera finds the family. Her one brother enjoys jumping up and down when something special happens and I love watching that happen. What a great family. I LOVE our entire team, and I'm so happy that Molly's injury isn't as bad as we thought on Sunday.

      @paitown9673 You nailed BOTH of them!! Caitlin isn't just counting on basketball for her future, she is graduating with a 3.6 GPA, majoring in marketing, so when her WNBA career is over, she will have no problem getting a well paying job doing just about anything she wants. Her intelligence on and off the court, her passion, her love of people, her love of life, she is what it means to be a true Iowan. She is going to shine bright. Sheryl summed up her sorry life in one podcast with untruths about Caitlin.

      But there seems to be a lot of smugness going around about a woman becoming the greatest scorer in D1 basketball. Which really only means something if the men and women get to play each other. But that aside, she definitely is a great player with no weaknesses.

    • @survivrs
      @survivrs 10 месяцев назад

      @@ron88303 You mean like Lia Thomas swimming against actual female swimmers? He couldn't swim as fast as nearly 500 other male NCAA swimmers, so he went trans and won a B1G championship swimming against real women. Caitlin proved herself against other women. Her points and assists aren't against men, they're against others who had set the records when they played the game. We know there was no 3 point line or freshmen playing when Pistol Pete played, but who knows what might change in the future that allows?

  • @Joe-ny2up
    @Joe-ny2up 10 месяцев назад +6

    Forget games. Maravich took well over 500 more shots than Clark has taken right now, as well as something like 250 more free throws. 500 shots is a lot. How much? Well Steph Curry played a full season in college and averaged 22 points a game, and took over a little over 500 shots the ENTIRE season. Like this guy said, there is a line for all time D1 elite scorers and everyone is behind Clark, everyone.

      I think everyone with a functioning prefrontal cortex understands she is not the greatest basketball player of all time. Likely the best women’s player of all time. But the fact that she’s a woman doesn’t negate the greatness.

    • @gl2996
      @gl2996 10 месяцев назад +2

      Sure but there was also no 3 point line when Maravich played (and no shot clock). Someone actually mapped all his shots and figured out that had there been a 3 point line, he would have scored over 4000.
      That said, it's been 54 years since Pistol Pete set that record, and none of the great players we've seen since him have bettered it. None but Clark. Anybody who doesn't think Clark is great or doesn't have fun watching her play is too silly to pay attention to.

    she may have surpassed Pete M's College total score record, but let's put this into perspective.
    Current Basketball rules and Floors benefitted Caitlin Clark compared to the OLD Game rules and floors of Pete Maravich.
    Pete didn't have a 3-Point Play.
    Pete didn't have a Score timer.
    Pete didn't have as many games per season.
    when you compare Apples & Oranges, Caitlin amassed a considerable total score a lot easier for her, than Pete Maravich.
    They estimated had Pete M, played in today's 3-Point Era of basketball, he would have amassed close to 6000 points in College. Because he averaged in College 44 points per game with no Shot Clock. think about that for a moment, and then think, all of his Jump Shots were only 2 points. Long or short, jump shots were only two.
    Clark has enjoyed a whole college career with a modified game benefitting long shot players and Shot Timers, plus more season games.
    I congratulate her though. For the hustle she has provided in Women's basketball. What she does is improve Women's Basketball in University.
    How will she impact the Pro Game next year. Hard to say because the WNBA is such a lousy situation to begin with. Caitlin Clark will not change the situation in the WNBA. It hasn't earned a profit in 25 years. It might have a marginal upswing next year, but the fact still remains. Even WOWEN won't support the WNBA. Once the novelty of Caitlin Clark in the WNBA is over, attendance will back into the ditch and no money.

    • @survivrs
      @survivrs 10 месяцев назад

      @Less While I could spend all day arguing your points of Caitlin vs. Pete, I'm not going to. I'm a huge Caitlin Clark fan, I HATE the NBA, I've seen more ridiculous highlights on Sportscenter than I want to see in my lifetime, and having never seen anything from the WNBA on Sportscenter, I don't know if I'll watch a game or not, even if Caitlin is in it. I would like to think that with Aliyah Boston for a teammate, they could get people interested in the WNBA, and if they do, I'll sure try one game, if for no other reason than to see Caitlin continue playing like she did in college. The one thing that could be a problem for her is her 3 point shots. Her own words were "Bluder lets me be Caitlin". Anybody else trying a shot from the logo would get benched the first time, but when she proved she could hit that shot as a freshman with nobody in the stands thanks to COVID, Coach gave her the green light, and she rarely let her team and coaches down. With the Tigerhawk at the center of Iowa's court, she made 2 shots in the last few games that were called "from the beak" (of the tigerhawk) which was a little farther than the "logo" shots off to the side. When they were on the other half of the court she hit one "from the feathers" (same distance as the beak). Roughly 40'. And yes, you're right about the differences.

    Pete took 600 more shots than Caitlin! Now, if this would have been a black woman everyone would be saying she's the greatest! Why can't people just give her credit? Now if she was Trans and played on a women's team it would be ok, right? Or Lesbian, like most of the WNBA players! So, much jealousy and I hate. The girl can flat out play! Give her credit! So, when Iowa loses in the tournament, and nobody watches anymore because they all came to see Caitlin. Then what?

    We can argue all we want that Pistol Pete did what he did with restrictions Caitlin didn't/doesn't have, BUT, if you want to go down that route, Caitlin had restrictions, as did I, having been born 41 years before her...she isn't as strong or fast as Pistol Pete...we women play with lesser "equipment" than men do. I played against me after high school cuz that's all that was all available to me, and I'm sure I've shot more hoops than she has or maybe even more than she ever will, cuz that about all I ever did in my spare time, but it was when I played against men that I really got good. When I watch Caitlin, it's kind of like watching what I maybe could have done had I been born when she was, but I wish her all the best in the world! She's the only woman baller I want to watch!

    Long before Iowa star Caitlin Clark hit her first long-range three or signed her first autograph, Pearl Moore set a scoring standard for women’s basketball that has stood for 45 years.
    The soft-spoken woman from South Carolina led her team at Francis Marion to the postseason four years in a row, averaging more than 30 points every season. The 5-foot-7 guard once scored 60 points in a game.
    She did it all under the radar in many ways, playing at a tiny school from 1975-79 when the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) oversaw the sport. Her career points total - a staggering 4,061 - still stands as the overall record in women’s hoops and is unlikely to fall this season even if Clark and the Hawkeyes make another deep NCAA Tournament run.
