TP: my guess is Otmar. Drivers: They’ll need experience and youth. It will be an American rookie from INDYCAR and Ricciardo or Checo alongside them. If for some reason they don’t get an American rookie, I think Colapinto is a good shout for it.
The one driver who deserves to be in F1 but isn't is Palou, who is already a Cadillac driver at IMSA, Le Man and WEC. If MacLaren had given him an F1 seat instead of offering reserve driver, he would have won them a championship this season. He is a champion at the highest level, unlike Piastri and Norris. He isn't amazing on the ovals in Indycar, but is like Verstappen on the street circuits. Given that Herta is already an Andretti driver, he could partner him. For reserve driver, the best young USA driver is Zillisch, but he would need more experience in open wheelers.
I agree about Palou but IIRC he's let the dream go mostly due to his age. Could be totally misremembering but I'm sure I read an interview to that effect some time last year. I mostly discounted him because by the time '26 rolls around he'll be 28 turning 29. Depressing to think that plays a part, but sadly it probably does 😔
@@KimmyCaulton it just means it is the one chance he has to make it happen. Would be amazed if he doesn't do it, he is so far ahead of Pato and Herta for talent, you would take the 3 time champion who is a couple of years older. The F1 comparison would be having the option of Verstappen or Norris in your team for talent, its a no brainer choice.
We said Otmar a few weeks ago as he said he was looking to bring a new US team to the grid on the High Performance Podcast. So I think it’s pretty certain GM will take his experience. Colton Herta will get 1 seat proving he gets the remaining license points in 2025 and I think Bottas for the lead seat
I think it's going to be Herta/Perez but I agree Ricciardo makes sense too I still think he has a lot to offer but I think hes genuinely still in with a shout of a Red Bull seat next year lol (delusional)
I know we all love Danny Ric and all the monopoly money that his charisma brings to the table, but after his McLaren and Alpha Tauri stints I'm starting to think that he just won't be able to adapt to the ground-effect era of F1, and I don't know if throwing him into another set of new regulations (where apparently the ground-effect thing is the only thing carrying on) would do him any favors.
Szafnauer is perfect. Herta with or Checo/Daniel Ricciardo
I was thinking Otmar Szafnauer as well.
Midwife/part-time F1 team boss Otmar.
Love the accent. Awesome perspective. I think Valteri and Colton would be great picks
Also just noticed you have a new pfp
Love it!
I'm picking Checho & Carlton

Otmar, yes. Pato O'Ward and Valteri Bottas.

Two minutes before I read your comment, GM has announced Graeme Lowdon. RUclips pundit curse strikes again, we were all wrong 😂
@ have they. Cant see anything on Google? Former Virgin/Manor boss is a strange appointment
it's only just being reported in the last fifteen minutes or so, first post I saw on bsky was from Medland and now they're coming thick and fast
@ yeah just hit here 2
Minutes ago 😂

Thommo Channel voted Riccardo as the best technical driver to work with from an engineers point of view

I'm gonna say Marcus Ericsson and Jamie Chadwick for the lulz. :)
Danny and cyril were a good team. They got the Renault going well. And Valerie or Checo . It would be a mistake to rookie in a new team.
Tesla Rodin? BMW Rodin? You need that manufacturer special sauce F1 seems to be after. I don't see an L&P or Tip Top Rodin team anytime soon.
Rodin Mad Butcher TWL Formula 1 Team
@@KimmyCaulton Now we are talking! lol
Herta is a good choice, I would prefer Pato
The FIA could probably just get rid of Haas and no-one would notice. Keeping the team count at 10, hehe.
