Cool! Sure looks like a low hour fresh water engine. Sometimes you will see a bit of a variation between cylinder banks for compression. Many of the bigger V6s were engineering with a little lower compression on the lower cylinders also, just to keep them a little cooler. Yeah, the thermostats on these are a terrible "design" for sure. The gaskets on your engine look to have been replaced. Perhaps the engine has a cooling issue, hope the gearcase is OK. Many people don't know about the "quick release" shift linkage feature on these engines and go through all the trouble of removing the carb and physically removing the shift lever clevis arm in order to remove the gearcase. Hope it is a simple issue, perhaps someone misaligned the water tube.
@@fleetwin1 Thanks, you will see the issues with the lower unit in upcoming videos. I believe someone had it apart and did not assemble properly. We will tackle those thermostats as well
The highest compression i've seen on v4's is 120 psi. my guess that powerhead is a rebuilt. Those plugs looks like their getting fuel and burning right without any brunt cruds on the electrodes.
Good luck with the motor! There are too many projects going on here!
Tremendous help to me for bringing my one owner 1988 88SPL back to life. Thanks
@@calvinallen4103 Glad to help, let me know if there is anything else you need!
Best $150 spent, ever!!!
@@kq2799 Agreed!

@@fishawk90 Interesting, I would tend to agree
