Chelsea are set to push for a £1.5bn rebuild of Stamford Bridge.
John Cross and Jonathan Liew discussed the options that would be available for Todd Bohely's club.
Under Roman Abramovich's ownership, Chelsea announced they had put plans for a new stadium on hold.
The club were given the go-ahead to start work on their new 60,000-capacity stadium by Hammersmith and Fulham council but plans were shelved in May of 2018.

They're rebuilding the stadium for that all star game.

I think getting a bigger stadium is the least of Chelsea's issues right now. I like the stadium, it looks unique and has character but oh boy I sure can't wait for it to turn into a generic glass bowl.
That's exactly why I want it to be redone like Anfield. They kept their traditional features and just built on their existing stands. I get it is radically more expensive and more complicated for us but youre paying extra for character to be retained, something a total new build won't have. Arsenal are a perfect case study of why you shouldn't demolish a famous traditional stadium for a bowl
@@lorddiegocosta3307 👏👏💯💯
@@lorddiegocosta3307 anfield has been redone but most of the traditional features which has made it "special" and "historical" has been removed. I put quotation marks on special and historical because most of the stuff that anfield has had has never been historical per say anfield doesn't really have a historic stand with loads of history behind it like Highbury for example and its art deco stand. And don't say The kop end the kop end sounds like a generic name, kop just means a section of seats that's what it means and it isn't really historic like Highbury's art deco stand for example.
@@Extreme2SwaggerHD Well I was sort of implying architectural features when I meant historic, the lower stands still look like a traditional stadium and most of the bones of the older Anfield have been kept. Thats what I want us to do, but our only remaining 'historic feature' (in your interpretation) is the Shed Wall which isn't actually part of the stadium and I sure hope it isn't demolished no matter what route the club goes down
Problem is there's not much room to build on current stands maybe it would add 10,000 to the capacity but that's probably not worth the cost.
Can’t wait to have the best stadium in the championship 😝😝
Gonna be turned to the next Superbowl yankee stadium

Should’ve gone to Battersea power station while they had the chance.
Not only would it have been more then big enough, it would’ve been close to the current ground, and would been one of the most iconic stadiums in the world with the chimneys!
If you remember Battersea development decided against a stadium. High end living spaces brought more money for them. Also, the deal Bates signed with the CPO meant it would have been tricky for Roman to just uproot and move the team.
People trying to talk crap it was agreed in the takeover contract Boehly had to spend at least a billion on playing staff and a further 1.5 billion at least on the stadium

Given the availability of limited spaces in London arsenal and Tottenham are lucky in a way that already built stadiums as lands are taken for developments and apartments
As the fans own the pitch and do not want to sell it rebuilding/extending is the only option.
Not necessarily. CPO shares could transfer to the new ground if they moved to the Earls Court site for example. It's not impossible, only takes 75% of CPO to agree with a vision and should CPO shares transfer the ground and name is still in the hands of the fans.
This was the case in the past that’s why the abramovich vision was expanding under Stamford bridge
Really can wait to see the New Stadium 🤩
Money is literally with him 😂😂😂
The model is the States one: giving supporters "fan experiences", it's not about winning for the pleasure of win, victories it's mainly to elevate the prestige of the club and actract more money ( also from the fans). It's interesting the way they look at football, but I am not sure will fit in Europe ( even in a wealthy city like London is now...but in the future?)
Yeah I support him trying to make the club bigger and more profitable but he's gotta think about results eventually too
We need a 20 feet Graham Potter statue made of gold at the entrance as well
🤣🤣
To be fair he's not a bad manager he has won as many trophies with Chelsea as Tottenham has.
🤦🏿♂️
Drogba, Terry etc... So many players before Potter
If only we can get the right manager
The only manager we need right now is Tuchel
@@Smiling_Ballers better get him again before Spurs sack conte
@blueboy1739 That something that won't happen as long as Boehly is there. Tuchel was sacked because of a falling out with Boehly in the first place. Bringing him back will not only be Boehly admitting he was wrong, but will render the 200 mil spent on Potter completely pointless.
Potter is the right man
@@goldie8501 Nahh if chelsea can give Mourinho another chance Real gives Carlo another chance , Toddy will be a genius. Just suck it up $200 million is peanuts to him
Good for London Bohley has made the biggest player purchase in England now a stadium I love to see this merge work out like the NFL UK. So good revenue in to England.
Yeah that was expected, Todd Boehly really want change everything about the club now
Agree, he's has changed them from a great team to a MEH team
He will turn it into Superbowl with hamburgers sandwiches with small drip of ketchup hotdogs everyday u bet
Does he ? Is that why we are sinking towards relegation?
Yeah he sure has. Made the club an absolute graveyard😂 long May it continue.
Perhaps we won't need bigger stadium the way it started.
When I read the comments about the pictures, when I saw it I was laughing my ass off 😂😂
Honesty, Chelsea are better off building a New 80,000 Seater Stadium in the Earls Court site. Which is still empty after a decade.
More expensive
@@fudgerace4356 Would generate more revenue than a 60,000 seater stadium.
@@fudgerace4356 Initially, but the old ground could be sold for property development offsetting that expense.
They’d make a killing building property around there!
The Chelsea trust has opposed the idea to move away from the current Stamford bridge location and if they go against their will then they will threatened to take the name of Chelsea away from the owners of the club and the name will be sold to someone else, which Boehly will have to come up with another name for the club

How about we get a team that deserves a new stadium to begin with ?
It was confirmed a while back that all the plans of Stamford Bridge rebuild had been finalised during Abramovich's time and the only reason it didn't start then was because UK govt delayed his visa extension. So I don't understand all this talk now about how work still needs to be done. Cost was £1bn even at that time so it going up is understandable, but what's with making it seem like it all needs to start from scratch?
maybe a redesign by Boehly? Maybe he doesnt want the cathedral look.
Planning permissions expire and other things like that. Plus, value of land surrounding the ground has probably gone up significantly. The transport infrastructure is going to be the biggest problem as they're not going to move a railway line for the stadium, not without a HUGE sum as the disruption would be massive.
Looking forward to that sounds great...
0:33 Now thats some background.;)
Why are they not consulting the fan on coach or management issues?
Great news
Getting our stadium ready for Championship football.
Pray for Nigeria 😢
Wtf is happening??
For those who know the area, why dont they just build a new stadium at eel brook common, its big enough to hold a stadium and turn the stamford bridge area into a large park, i think thats not a bad idea, its less than 2 mins walk away
Another suggestion is to move slightly North to the Old Earls Court Exhibition Centre Land - infront of West Brompton Station. That land was sold in 2014 and still no work has started on a development, surely Chelsea could strike a deal and it would be better for the club as match going fans would get easy walking access to West Brompton and Earls Court station - where the Southern (National Rail) and TFL services all travel through) as apposed to Fulham Broadway currently who can only hold the District line to transport 40,000plus fans every game day which it struggles to do.
@@salkay7440 I don't know if Earls Court is actually large enough though, its got I think 3 railways to deal with rather than just one at Fulham Broadway
That doesn't look much bigger than the current stadium land.
Just by looking at the Background you could tell Chelsea is not serious
This project has been on through Roman Abramovic, the man who really loves the club. But left the message along with the new owner to maintain, so is not a new thing. If Todd Boehly really wants to impact the Club now, he should first build the club with a quality football coach, who must be an elite in the business, with a quality signing of players. No doubt, he has managed some success in that department of building a good squad, but so far, has failed woefully by retaining a football coach meant for the likes of Gillingham football club or Millwall fc. So, he should not placate us fans with stadium development when, in fact, it's part of the condition he got Chelsea fc at the time of negotiations for the Club.
If only we can get the right manager in place
I can't... The poster🤣🤣 also stadium renovation is something good but too expensive

I remember since 2009 we heard about it but it never actually materialized till today and wonder the lack of passion in Abramovich era to rebuild Stamford Bridge. I think Todd Boehly is the man.
He could build a few extra dressing rooms for all the teams he will have accumulated
Roman was going to build then he got kicked out because of Geopolitics then forced to sell the club. He already had a design completed.

Everyone is a financial analyst. Many can barely balance their own budget.
Just give us another tier not a new stadium
we need to push for a win 1st

CPO really needs to come to the party on this, how much longer will we delay this process.
No one wants a new soulless bowl, thats why they won't come to the party. And the CPO is the best representation of the fans, lets not act like a shiny new silent stadium is the best because thats what the internet says
CPO is not delaying anything.
@@lorddiegocosta3307 True.
Pushing? They either do it or they don't , no pushing required.
i hope this will be better than Spurs stadium.
Todd has found the infinite money glitch I’m gonna need that
Hopefully we move to Wembley for 5 years I might be able to purchase a ticket with my chelsea membership I purchase every season
finally 💙.
Why don’t they just extend and redevelop the stands like Liverpool? Too many big clubs movie to lifeless stadiums and losing the core atmosphere of the club. Stanford bridge is a fantastic ground
Not enough space. Realistically I think the stadium needs to move to the west a bit to allow more space for a new East stand. Although we already know that a large chunk of cash is needed to improve the infrastructure in terms of routes to and from the ground. Currently the only way is via Fulham Road and safety regulations doesn't allow us to have a higher capacity because of that.
we need the napoli coach then that's it for 5 years !
This could well be the best stadium in the league.

He’s not messing about 🤣🤣🤣
At least we need 70k capacity
Modern news , always some guy voicing his personal opinion from his bedroom on a laptop.
Chelsea are currently 9th this season in terms of average attendance in the Premier League at 39,000.. That is scarily low for a club of that size, they badly need a new, bigger stadium..
They could easily fill a 65,000+ stadium.. They’re missing out on so much money by not investing in the facilities. Chelsea should of done all of this years ago..
The question is where can they build a 65000+ stadium? they probably can't on the current location and that will have been why it has taken so long to get anywhere before now. They will have to relocate to a different part of london, and that will impact both their reputation amongst sponsors, fans and players as they'll lose some of their identity in the process, something that will take decades to rebuild at a new location. London land is incredibly sought after and expensive as well. Boehly can of course afford it, but is it going to be him building and owning the stadium or the club? will the club be saddled with paying off 1.5bn+ of debt for it? that 1.5bn could rise significantly if it takes 5-10 years given the effects of the UK economy and inflation etc.
Why would project that was suppose to 600m£ and that was overblown cost now 1.5bn. Are talking about some kind of money laundering?
To cost 600m£
it's a right old tip
5 years at Wembley and £1.5 billion plus? I'd just make the seats smaller and scrunch em all in!

Did he just say "knock down Wembley"?
Yes he did
They are probs blaming the stadium to why they're playing so bad
Rebuilding the stadium sounds great but the club needs champions league football to help finance it.
You should buy the stadium first . Spending 1.5 b on something you don't own it s brazy
Thanks Chelsea. That puts even more pressure on Man Utd to fastly sell and invest in Old Trafford. A football club's stadium is the home, the symbol, the very important part of the history and it must be always a top priority.
Going to potentially be harder with the new ownership test announcement by the PL/FA for Utd to sell to certain groups.
Chelsea need thomas tuchel not stadium rebuild

This is how you do it spurs invest in the team and the stadium grate to see they have put a 50M bid to buy up land next to stamford bridge to give us more room to build we need a minimum 60K Sradium that is the very best in europe
You’ll be an old man when it’s done 👴🏻
The land is on the other side of the road and will not help in the actual stadium at all , the biggest problem is the rail line behind the stadium if it could be bridged and that end expanded now that’s a start
