Thanks for the easy to understand review. I've been chomping at the big for a Galaxy S III and yet paying around $600 for a phone makes my teeth hurt!. I might be willing to spend $359 but that is pushing the limit. I'm still going to do some checking, but I just saw that Virgin Mobile has the S2 now so I'm thinking of a holiday gift for myself with that one. So again, it was a helpful video. There wasn't really much on the texting.... I text aLOT. And my current phone (HTC Inspire) has been having MAJOR problems with texting. And I can upgrade in January. And I'm not sure if the fourth generation of this phone will come out before then or not, but if it does, then I will check that one out too. Dear Ray, your ignorance at some times during reviews never cease to amaze me. Indeed, the Galaxy SIII camera has a little more functions than the camera on the SII. However, the shortcuts to the functions in the interface are not limited to the ones you had in your SII. YOU CAN ADD MORE. Other than that, this was a really nice and helpful review.
i was confused between the ONE X & SIII but honestly speaking my one year old S2 is not very far behind, yes the S3 is the best right now but will wait for Samsung to make a better design in the galaxy S4. Thanx for the great comparo
Why does my new S2 not look like the one you have? I have looked at a few videos bcuz I'm trying to decide if I should return the s2 I just got & get a s3. Are there multiple versions of the s2? The one i have is as big as the s3...I compared them in person. Mine also doesn't have that button on the bottom & it's a shiny (not matte) finish. I'm confused.

Well if you ask me i'd probably say s3 because of the close price but i can't neccessarily say which one is a better value, depends on where you live and which version you're getting because the international version is quad core but north american version is a dual core..
I can get the S2 with my carrier in mexico for like 80 dlls with a 2 year contract, should i take that deal or wait three months till the S3 arrives and pay aroung 550 dlls with the same 2 years contract? Its making me crazy!

I am talking about the SG3,they are adding an extra ram for the dual core to make up for it not having a quadcore like the international version,since LTE is not compatible with the quadcore..and quadcore only has 1 gb ram so ICS is compatible with 1gb ram..
to be honest, im happy with my Ace, just wish it was a bit quicker. the ace 2 is out i know but on o2 it costs the same as the s2. thats an easy decision. just a shame contracts are so long these days. im coming off the back of a 12 month contract now and am only just feeling bored of the phone. the only plus with the s3 is that it is future-proofed. for 18 months or so.

some of you are not taking into account that the gs3 has a higher resolution to deal with. Its still just as fast, little faster than gs2 while dealing with a 720p resolution. Im using at&t gs2 with cm9, like it a lot. even compared to my new htc one x it performs well.

I'm afraid I will have to point out that you can actually add shortcuts for adding grids or flash toggle for example to the s2's camera application. So it doesn't fall back as far as this aspect is concerned. For me the s2 is better, but only because it's not as huge as the s3. The s3 is just a tiny bit too large for my taste although I can't really choose a winner in terms of looks and design.

I really wished the S3 would follow the same design as the S2. I was dissapointed with the look of the S3, but still bought it due it's superior speed and it's quadcore, as well as a larger screen.
I own the SII myself,and after watching this video THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE. The SII has a dual-core 1.2 GH processor and it's extremely fast,the screen is so nice and very sleek,super amoled plus and I love it. The cameras are identical,both have 8MP cameras which shoot 1080p and have 1080p playback.I would recommend the SII because there is practicly no difference and you will pay less.
I remember almost getting this phone when it was released - i didn't, but I got the s3 the following year. My mam bought the s2 6 months ago and I'm impressed by it not quite as powerful than the s3 but I know I'd have loved this phone if i had got it. If there was a high res version, matched with the S4 processor this would be a great alternative high end phone for people with small hands.
Usually I say that upgrading one generation is a waste of money because the upgrades are very marginal, but upgrading from the S2 to the S3 is night and freaking day. I tried both phones at Verizon when the S3 just came and out and they were trying to get rid of the S2 stock and I couldn't believe how outdated the S2 already felt. The screen is larger, brighter, much sharper and the phone is a lot faster.

The reason your S lll keeps taking pictures by itself is because you have the shutter set to voice command........... When your talking - your saying some words that it knwos as "take the picture"...... Also, look on the display ... There is an icon saying so under the flash icon @ the top ... This phone has so much stuff - it takes a while to get to all of them .. Awesome phone .....
Most of what you said is right, except for the last thing. iPhone has had Voice Control for a long, long time now. Siri isn't copying Android, Siri was a third party app that was supposed to be on Blackberry, Android, and iPhone, before Apple bought exclusive rights for it.

Month or two ago I bought brand new S2 in open market - I was thinking about getting S3 but eventually I didn't. Why?? Well the price difference was rather big. I came to a conclusion that S3 doesn't offer more enough to justify 25-30% higher price. Important factor is also the size. S2 is easier to use with one hand - maybe my hands r too small for S3 :D Both phones r awasome it's just S2 has better "value:what-u-get" ratio IMHO.
I had S2 and now I got GNexus, I think GNexus it's better then S3 & S2, Because Launcher ( Theme ) of GN, I hate TouchWiz and I hope Samsung change it or make it better Thanks for review

Android & the S2 works out of the box perfectly well, My mother who is late 50's has Zero problems using her Android smartphone. It may be a little more difficult for someone as clueless as you though

U can adjust the saturation on the screen by using screen adjust from the play store. These guys are almost doing away w/the market apps. Well I've bought some of them & I'm freakin' using them lol.

Also Korean release may use Exynos quad and 2GB RAM.

the phone is taking pic on the s3 coz it have a shortcuts via voice so you might trigger that with some thing you said ^^

the letters in horizontal mode are smaller in the s3 becouse predictive text mode is activated and in the s2 not!
The camera shortcuts on the S3 is avaible on the S2 too..U can set them from the menu and put whatever you want ;) Just like the S3..

As of yesterday, Jelly Bean test firmware for the s2 brings functions like smart stay and touchwiz nature ux to the phone.
