Status bar on the S3 says it's 16 o'clock. Weather/Time widget on the S3 says it 9AM Status bar on the Nexus says it's 1PM Clock widget on the Nexus says it's 13 o'clock.
Ray was a bit misleading by saying that the address bar on the Nexus was slightly annoying by showing up every time you scroll up and down whilst in the browser. That is easily removed in settings and using thumb access from side of screen when needed :-)
You mentioned the colors being more natural on the Nexus, but did you take the S3's color presets into account? By default, it's not on the "natural" setting.
you're wrong on the pricing my friend. On the verizon store, the galaxy nexus and s3 are the same $200 price. And if you dont have the nexus and want/need a new phone, it would be smart to choose the s3.
claro e adorei o celular, estou mais inclinado a escolher o nexus, talvez por ja te-lo usado, atualmente tenho um iphone 4 e n vejo a hora de voltar ao android!
in some way, the s2 and s3 will both get jelly bean in Q4 of this year but ye, the NEXUS is the device what will get everything first and best i have enough money..so... s3 or nexus, i think ill go with the nexus becouse of how smooth it is and its alot cheaper and i just love stock jelly bean look, and HATE touchwiz...or really any skins on my android and for gaming its pretty good, the cpu may not compete with others but the GPU sure does! any advice? i have to choose soon so....
Hello, I was wondering if the samsung galaxy S III is customizable, because so far only seen him with the blue screen, and I'm looking to buy one now thanks.
I get to order the nexus on the 19th I am sooo pumped. I went to bestbuy today and I saw it so I picked it up and I must say the back is very nice, it has a great feel
5:00 The S-Voice on the S3 is now almost a non-factor because Google has their own version with Google Voice which seems to work as good as/better than Siri and S-Voice.
what is the internal space for apps on galaxy s3 ? as galaxy nexus has total space for apps.......means no separate partition for apps ......e.g galaxy s 2 has 2 gb app space
I have a galaxy nexus and I have no idea where you are coming from. It's pretty clear that the GSIII is better overall. You know, it is 7 months later.
actually the thing that the address bar appears on the vanilla ICS while scrolling up is quite useful, because if u wanna go to an other address, u don't have to scroll the whole way up
You go to settings about phone and you should see system updates or check for updates in the settings. If it says under "Android Version" 4.0.3 or 4.0.4 then you are up to date.
So what there's a physical home button or capacitive buttons? If they do their intended functions then what's there to complain about? And if there's gimmicky features then simply don't use them... I never once bought into the whole Sir/S-voice thing, so myself I won't be utilizing that feature. But sharing options like S-beam and share shot can come quite in handy, especially with my friends because we're media-heavy. I'd like to own a Nexus device, but it's simply outgunned for me.
i think you are wrong nexus wont be stuck on ics for long it will be htc one x and s3 and rest of the phone cause nexus is updated directly from google for eg the old nexus was the first one to get the stock ics upgrade so thats just prooves ur point wrong that nexus would be stuck on ics for long time :)
This video is by far the best one Iv seen for people that have a nexus and are thinking of getting the s3,its honeslty not really worth it but just from the new radio I might get the s3. If we could get samsung to give us a vanilla s3 with 2gb ram it would be the best cell hands down but there is to many things that one cell has and the other dosnt to make nexus users upgrade to. now I know why the nexus got the 5mp camera, they crippled the nexus just enough to save the upgrade for the s3.
the s3 has a 720p screen. i got rid of my nexus due to screen quality banding issues. if they fixed it i woulda kept it, just got to see if the s3 has the same issues. i don't really care about software because ics is already out for the s3 so they would both be running the same os
The galaxy S3 is almost a year newer than the galaxy nexus, of course Samsung would fine tune more of its qualities, however the price difference between the S3 and the nexus is also quite significant considering how most stores sells the S3 for almost $200 more. it also seems that there is not much difference in quality. Is the quality difference really worth $200 more?
Pretty much all software related issues. Multi-touch issue resolved, everything resolved. the only thing that hasn't been resolved is battery life and the cellular radios, which can not be fixed with an update.
i was talking about the prices of the phones unlocked (i went to amazon and checked it). i live in portugal, and unfortunately we do not have those awesome deals you americans do where you can get the latest state of the art technology for a couple of bucks, and we have to pay up to 800$ for the S3, and about 500$ for the nexus. (;
why make a vs video? the nexus was released half a year ago, i see the s3 as the hardware-succesor of the nexus and the nexus as the software-succesor to the s2. and in my opinion thats the best way to compare these phones.
I love a phisical key because I can use it to answer calls if I have much gloves on...so softkeys are a no no. Another thing, the capacitive keys on the SGS 3 hide perfectly when not lit so it makes the phone look a lot more minimalistic. And come on the quad core cpu runs any game or app so smoothly it's unreal... then there is the camera and the excellent display (310 ppi )
I own a Galaxy Nexus and I'm not completely satisfied with it. It seems a bit rushed like for instance the battery life is atrocious and doesn't last very long and when you install a few apps and the phone starts to have a little bit of its space taken up, it lags like hell. Although it could be the fact that the Phone companies aren't releasing google's updates as ICS 4.0.4 is out and I've only got 4.0.2.
The hardware on the Galaxy Nexus is not up to those tasks. Heck, it's choppy when performing tasks like pinch-to-zoom, scroll etc., on a stock browser and panning through the screens.
Own preferences still boils down to the end. And I go for the Nexus, better design and stock ICS. The GSIII shows up more on the hardware and some features but doesn't gave me a better reason to go for it. The GNexus just gave me more reasons why not to buy a phone in the next years. Talk about Android Jelly bean. #TeamGalaxyNexus
No one ever talks about how Nexus gets updated with the operating system every time one comes out. While the S3 and other phones are stuck with what they have...correct me if I'm wrong though, just saying what I heard.
i bought my galaxy s3 aweek ago but didnt install CM10 coz i heard abt the issues u mentioned.I like the Galaxy nexus coz its the best phone for me but i am a photography buff and i didnt buy a GNexus coz its 5 mp is nt enough for me......i was having an iphone 4s but i was justbored of ios and shit
i really want to get the galaxy nexus but i also want the nexus 7 when it comes out and i dont want the same device but in different sizes :/. ooooh what to do
Pay attention to the connectivity once the close up starts @3:35, the S III has four bars while the Nexus is struggling to even keep service at all. This is the main reason why I wanna get rid of my Nexus. Even if you can somehow prove the Nexus to be the superior device, it makes NO difference if you can't even use the damn thing...
it will eventually, but not with the nexus...you will have to wait until samsung ports touchwiz on 4.1, or you can root you phone and get vanilla 4.1 right now
thats the exact situation im in...i like the design of the htc one x waaaay better but apparently there is a wifi issue with the htc one x where the battery gets drained super quickly
indeed it is. but i said what i said as my personal opinion; and i still stand by it. its pretty clear, as you said, that the S3 is a better phone overall. however, Quad-core chips in mobile phones, right now, are nothing but a marketing strategy. Until improvements in battery life (that manufacturers are really in need of) and the level of app development come into line with this kind of technology, it’s nothing but a waste of money (again, imo). and thats why i also own a Nexus instead of a S3
I bought the S3 a week ago...& let me tell you...I made the RIGHT decision! I was concerned like the rest..(is it worth it, is it fast, how the cam..blah. blah) I have to to say AGAIN...it's SOOO worth it! I'm commin from a Iphone too...but that don't matter, this is a AWSOME phone, would recommend to anyone who is on the fence ..
The dealbreaker for me on the Gnex is the touchscreen buttons take up screen space.. I think ill stick to my Galaxy s2 for a while, after all the Gs2 is till a great phone
Both great phones! But for me the Galaxy S3 isn't a big enough upgrade to leave my Galaxy Nexus. I'll wait for the Galaxy S4 since the Nexus 4 is not available on Sprint.
the galaxy s3 has been out for two weeks and it already has aosp. and jellybean is an incremental update 4.0 -> 4.1 I doubt it would take a month tops. regardless the s3 is already a more popular phone there's been many more sold, I would just like to see it in person and judge it. it has the hardware, and the software is coming in really fast with dev support.
does anybody know how the battery is on the galaxy nexus? i am thinking about getting the gsm one for t mobile and i WILL NOT be using 3G or 4G. will i be able to get more than a day out of it?
there are so many people who are telling that galaxy nexus will get updates before s III. yeah, it's natural! because nexus is pure google phone. but samsung use their own stuffs after the update released! so it became late for getting a update! And some one is telling that all the stuffs of s III has been ported to nexus! but you guys really think that is any unofficial ported stuffs is as good as the original stuff?
The S3 !!!!!! Don't even look back!!! I've had mind for a week, & almost bought the NEx NOt here 4...& thank GOD it wazn't in stock, cause NOTHING will replace this phone , at least not for a while.. ;) Very happy w/the S3...would HIGHLY recommend!
yea. but don't get me wrong. if we judge the two devices just by their specs and overall performance i agree that the S3 is better than the nexus. but then again, i will not pay 800$ (in portugal and probably most european countries) for the S3 when i can have a nexus for 300 bucks less. BUT if i lived in america, no doubt i would further investigate the possibility of buying the S3 if both phones are the same price, as you say (:
thats because its not necessarily true. All the nexus devices still don't have jelly bean. Like verizon, or sprint (who is just now getting it). So basically, if you want the LTE version of the Nexus, it will get the updates much closer to the S3, which is also coming soon. ofcourse, you could flash ROMs, in which case both devices already have Jelly Bean.
I've watched a few reviews of the SIII and u r the 1st to say anything about the accidental presses of the keys at the bottom, good point man.
Status bar on the S3 says it's 16 o'clock.
Weather/Time widget on the S3 says it 9AM
Status bar on the Nexus says it's 1PM
Clock widget on the Nexus says it's 13 o'clock.
I'm wasn't talking about the backcover. I was referring to the frame that goes around the device at the edge.
Ray was a bit misleading by saying that the address bar on the Nexus was slightly annoying by showing up every time you scroll up and down whilst in the browser. That is easily removed in settings and using thumb access from side of screen when needed :-)

Case and point. What do I want as a techie? I want the Galaxy Nexus. What would I recommend to my mother? The SGS3.
claro e adorei o celular, estou mais inclinado a escolher o nexus, talvez por ja te-lo usado, atualmente tenho um iphone 4 e n vejo a hora de voltar ao android!
thank you for this video! I'm leaning towards the galaxy nexus, unless rooting a samsung galaxy s3 is easy to do and you can get rid of touchwiz..
in some way, the s2 and s3 will both get jelly bean in Q4 of this year
but ye, the NEXUS is the device what will get everything first and best
i have enough money..so...
s3 or nexus, i think ill go with the nexus becouse of how smooth it is and its alot cheaper
and i just love stock jelly bean look, and HATE touchwiz...or really any skins on my android and for gaming its pretty good, the cpu may not compete with others but the GPU sure does!
any advice? i have to choose soon so....
just like that man? thanks. is there any new galaxy nexus phone this year? quad core processor maybe?
will galaxy nexus keep getting updated very quickly even as it becomes outdated a year or two from now?
You can also make your own programs for the nexus if you press build number 6 times
Hello, I was wondering if the samsung galaxy S III is customizable, because so far only seen him with the blue screen, and I'm looking to buy one now thanks.
is google releasing a new nexus smartphone this year? is it going to be by samsung again or?
I get to order the nexus on the 19th I am sooo pumped. I went to bestbuy today and I saw it so I picked it up and I must say the back is very nice, it has a great feel
thanks for your wonderful comparison between both the gadgets , it was really helpful :)
5:00 The S-Voice on the S3 is now almost a non-factor because Google has their own version with Google Voice which seems to work as good as/better than Siri and S-Voice.
Is there a new nexus coming out. I heard rumours one will be released this month?
Just to say that the 4.1 Update rolling Next week for Nexus and the SIII... When?
yes, thats really.Nexus has UI softkeysand when turns off look like Cinema Screen!
Does the Galaxy S III have a multicolored Notification LED?? I don't think so
Getting Nexus in a couple of months... Really, will it still be concidered as a good phone a year or two from now ?
what is the internal space for apps on galaxy s3 ? as galaxy nexus has total space for apps.......means no separate partition for apps ......e.g galaxy s 2 has 2 gb app space
nice, btw can you show us a demo where you close your eyes and the smart stay functionality will respond. :/
I have a galaxy nexus and I have no idea where you are coming from. It's pretty clear that the GSIII is better overall. You know, it is 7 months later.
actually the thing that the address bar appears on the vanilla ICS while scrolling up is quite useful, because if u wanna go to an other address, u don't have to scroll the whole way up

does the google play version of the nexus come with or does it support google wallet?

I want either the galaxy nexus or the s3, which one should I get? I'm really confused
this is an excellent review. Does the Nexus have gorralla glass. [spelling]
"Super omelet display"
mmm super omelet - with cheese?
Simply put, the technologies that they incorporate. You can just look them up to get a much more accurate description.
This video is by far the best one Iv seen for people that have a nexus and are thinking of getting the s3,its honeslty not really worth it but just from the new radio I might get the s3.

So if they are sam price. You would go with S III???
You can make the colours "warmer" in the settings on Galaxy S3

@msr5118 but the nexus has a dual core too right?
Very good comparison, very in depth and identified many of the differences.

I might be getting one if these two, which one should I get
Is it gonna be new nexus this year?
How much does the nexus cost when buying from the store not online (Verizon)
Alright, im getting a new phone tomorrow, should I get the GS3 or the Nexus? Or any other suggestions? HELP!
why make a vs video? the nexus was released half a year ago, i see the s3 as the hardware-succesor of the nexus and the nexus as the software-succesor to the s2. and in my opinion thats the best way to compare these phones.
not that lol i meant that when he was on the browser it looked washed out on the s3. must be because he turned the brightness down.
I love a phisical key because I can use it to answer calls if I have much gloves on...so softkeys are a no no. Great review! Really informative!
I havent seen anyone make a folder on the samsung galaxy s3... is it possible??
Love the wallpaper on the galaxy nexus. How can I get it
The hardware on the Galaxy Nexus is not up to those tasks. Heck, it's choppy when performing tasks like pinch-to-zoom, scroll etc., on a stock browser and panning through the screens.
Should I take a G'Nexus or Samsung Galaxy SIII?

thats because the nexus line is google's own brand, and they have no custom UI ontop of the stock android, they take care of their favourites first
the screen looks a lot smaller due to the on-screen buttons , somene said to me the other day that the screen is like 4.1'' removing the bottom zone
should i sell my Galaxy Nexus for GS3???
milad safi. Gs9
@afrocg25 you can always flash the s3 to stock ...
when did Van Damme start making phone reviews?
Does S Beam and Android Beam work together?
yes,as long as it is still being sold, it would be one of the first androids to get updated
I wouldn't mind either of them, both great phones!
6:45 Wow the different whites on the two screens is extreme
I can assure you that the galaxy s 3 will also be updated to android 5.0 (although, Im pretty sure they'll release version 4.1 first)
i really want to get the galaxy nexus but i also want the nexus 7 when it comes out and i dont want the same device but in different sizes :/. ooooh what to do

how i update galaxy nexus? must i connect it to windows or? sorry im not good with tech

I have to correct you. it is not a quad core. It is a dual core. North America gets the dual core version.
I have a GSM galaxy nexus, and will be holding onto it when I buy my sgs3 from T-Mobile ;) love both of these phones !
@Teflon1875 yeah, he doesnt sound american.. he almost sounds like hes unsure of what hes saying or doing
It is not.
Do you even have a Galaxy Nexus?
The dealbreaker for me on the Gnex is the touchscreen buttons take up screen space.. I think ill stick to my Galaxy s2 for a while, after all the Gs2 is till a great phone
Really? I'm going to buy Nexus or S3, but I don't know which one is better :(
is there gonna bee a new galaxy nexus 2012?
are they both the same size?
i dont think the smoothness relies on how many processeros the phone has. some old phones like the desire runs ics with sense 4.0 butter smooth
Who use the Stock Browser and Music Player :D?
Whats the Galaxy Tree?
Both great phones! But for me the Galaxy S3 isn't a big enough upgrade to leave my Galaxy Nexus. I'll wait for the Galaxy S4 since the Nexus 4 is not available on Sprint.

so why are you posting this on a samsung video?
does anybody know how the battery is on the galaxy nexus? i am thinking about getting the gsm one for t mobile and i WILL NOT be using 3G or 4G. will i be able to get more than a day out of it?

Wow that's a surprise to me. In Australia and Taiwan the price difference is like I said, surely you could always import it to get a better deal.
