Phasers On Stun: I was lifting Dad last Monday morning when something went wrong. I didn't know at the time that Dad had lost any kind of muscle control in his torso. It was now impossible for one person to lift him because he moves around too much. (Something my brother found out the next day. Vindication. ) I'm holding Dad up by his underarms, but he's too low to lift any higher. We're both going to fall. I called on my brother, who was in the room, to 'Help me!" Dad was yelling, "Help, help, help." My brother told me in advance he was not going to lift a finger to help me with anything, like he was trying to teach me a lesson or something. Bottom line: Dad was going to fall, was calling for 'help' and my brother, who could see and hear what was going to happen, just stood there.
Phasers On Stun: Dad: "I'm gonna report you to the VA." Me: "Why?" "I'm gonna tell them your blocking access to my toilet!" "Dad ... it's between us." "Ahh, you're gonna use the wheelchair and walker and potty to block me in ... " I always left it at a punch line.

Phasers On Stun: Over the last two weeks, what I've experienced from my brother as we cared for Dad was a level of malevolence I didn't expect, ask for, or even want. For instance my brother never mocked me to face in the past, but he's done it number of times already, the last time after Dad and I fell to the floor of Dad's bedroom. My brother simply stood over me and just kept the mockery going.

never really listened carefully to Sen. Fetterman before. He is a good balanced thinker and very articulate. Democrats need more Harry Truman- JFK-LBJ democrats, and John is among them. Pennsylvania is lucky to have him. Would like to see him on more of the influential committees in the Senate.

I talked with him continuously, more than we had ever before. It has had a profound effect on me. Anybody who knows me? I not the same guy. I can never say, "I wish I'd spent more time with my Dad." It's more like, I had him all to myself and its was a good.
