    big fan of David Williams and Shobit did a fantastic job, what value!
    but i do think that this kind of instructions is of limited value. both coaches focused on showing you how to drive that specific track in that specific car and to do it like them.
    I've been working with Nikki Chan (aka Last Tenth here on YT) who takes a very different approach which is more about teaching you how to drive fast in any car at any track and not by showing you how he does it but pointing out what you can do better and why.

    • @buddhapest
      @buddhapest Год назад +3

      David's VRS guide videos are actually pretty amazing. he goes very in depth about the car itself, but in general the approach is still track/car specific

    • @DJYeeJay
      @DJYeeJay  Год назад +10

      I would say that’s mostly my doing because I went to each session wanting to learn a specific combo. For the Mazda though I feel like pretty much everything is transferable to every track

    • @buddhapest
      @buddhapest Год назад +5

      @@DJYeeJay for sure. but I think any lesson that starts with "here's your lap and here's mine" is more about low hanging fruit. it works, no doubt, and both these guys are excellent coaches, but I don't think it's as valuable as general training that let's you find your own line, break points, etc. because the later means you can handle different conditions, setups, etc.
      just pointing out that there are different approaches and they might be interesting for contrast

    I bought a 1.5h lesson for 15$ on fiverr and it was amazing. I already improved by over a second and I am usually setting top laps in practice standing next to people with 3-5k irating

    Question, I’m confused about abs, I heard from Dave Cam that braking over 80% engages the ABS on the mx5. He said you brake faster when it’s not engaged so learning to brake at 80% will make you faster. But the $5 coach said he brakes 100% in every hard braking zone. Which method is faster? Braking at 80 or 100?

    • @shobhitn79
      @shobhitn79 Год назад

      I am not sure, as I haven’t tried the 80% trick, but basic trail-braking techniques can work wonders to help the mx-5 turn it without the front sliding. Sometimes I have experienced rear-locking with the 100% technique, but the ABS keeps the car from spinning

    • @DJYeeJay
      @DJYeeJay  Год назад +7

      David was explaining in our session to only rely on ABS for for load management and not for it’s pure stopping capabilities, but to Shobhits credit I was not braking nearly enough to start off with

    "what's your best time in this track?" "i have never driven this track before." dude... also, no need to look at telemetry for a guy that never drove at laguna before and can barely hold the car in a straight line.
