Fantastic idea. Maybe in another version they can do those tent pole type rods to better conform to the roofline.

It is a cool little set up and I think maybe even some lower magnets would work as well. I did manage to get it closed on the bottom later in the video. Longer rods might make it a bit easier 👍🏻

Now there's an idea! Checked out my Ford and the Crosstrek and both have the grab handles right where needed. I'll pass this along to my son the has the Outback Wilderness .. this would work for them nicely. I'll see what he says. 🤠

Are the straps visible from outside the vehicle with the doors shut?

Hi, I believe they are covered with the door closed, but I honestly can't remember for certain. I have not used it for sometime.
