Pretty rare to see youtube channels still active on their older videos hearting comments. This video was very helpful and now I'm less scared of building a shed in the near future. Thank you
Hi thank you. Yes I try to keep up with comments as much as I can. I had to heart yours too. 😁 I’m glad if I could help a bit with knowing what you’re in for. Here is a recent shed video I did that has a lot more details that others requested if you want to check that one out it may help you too. ruclips.net/video/ABJQI8spi04/видео.html
There's a LOT of shed videos on youtube, but this one might be my favorite! Love your delivery and presentation in this video. Helpful points throughout. Well done!
Thank you so much I really appreciate it!! If you get a chance I made a really long video with a lot more details after this one because of all the requests I got. It’s a little different because I used wood siding. If you want to check it out sometime let me know your thoughts. ruclips.net/video/ABJQI8spi04/видео.html

Also depending on your foundation the grade and leveling you may have to add concrete posts pads or gravel that might offset your cost as well.
Thanks for sharing. Yeah it probably varies a little depending on your area. You could also use t111 siding like sheds have a lot but it would have maintenance and upkeep but it may be some cheaper. Maybe you could even find some used steel for the roof if you didn’t care about looks that much.
Thanks for doing the math for me. I'm working on a "tiny house" type project for a homeless program down here. Now I can show that we can do each one for less than the cost of buying sheds and then adding our own needs. For about $700 we can build sheds to give these guys some dignity and yet not be so comfortable they never want to leave.
Came here after perusing Home Depot rubber sheds, hoping to save some money and Do It Myself, and just about snot-rocketed my drink when I saw 65 2x4's. That's a couple hundred bucks in 2x4's alone, I thought. So much for saving money... Fine build though sir.
Great video, thank you for making such a straight forward, insider tips included, video on this shed build. I am a disabled vet (Iraq) and have found that building things really helps with my ptsd. I want to build a workshop and really put in some work healing my mind and body. My physical disability has me a little scared to start such a big project, though. (Above knee amputee). So for now I watch videos such as yours and catch a little motivation with each build. YOUR video REALLY motivates me! THANK YOU!
Thank you for your service thank you so much for the kind words! That would be a big challenge but I am proud of you for wanting to keep going and do something that helps you and motivates you! I’m really glad if this video can help contribute a little bit for ideas. That motivates me to make better videos too. 😊 sometime early next spring I’m planning to do another shed video with board and batten siding that should have a lot more details hopefully too. I wish you all the best going forward! Thanks
That is a nice shed. I just wouldn’t have thought to use the tin on the sides. It looks really good. A lot of good tips and out of the box thought. Thank you.
Nice build. Definitely a lot of things that saved time and money. Glad to see you put the door in the gabled end, seen people put the door under the eaves without gutters and think 'but why?' lol. Built an 8x12 a couple years ago but somewhat overbuilt it. Part of the reason was knowing I'd have heavy tools in it. 4 4x4 treated skids, 2x6 floor joists with blocking and foam insulation, 2x4 walls 16"oc. Walls are 8ft high with a set of diy double doors 6ft wide total and 7ft tall. Double top plates on the walls, 2x6 glue/lam header over the door. 2x6 rafters with 7/16 osb sheathing covered in tar paper then covered in sheet metal on a 9/12 pitch. Quieter when it rains and no 'sweating' action so anything inside stays bone dry even in a humid climate and during winters with heat inside. Using rafters with a raised joist opens the ceiling up and a 3.5ft deep loft on either end for storage. Walls are foam insulated. Took me longer than a few days but turned out nice. Also depends what it's used for, my goal was a shed/workshop. I wouldn't have built it so heavy if it were just to store a few bins and a lawnmower or a couple shovels. Heavy enough to support a loaded tool cab, be able to place an engine or transmission inside if needed without worrying about going through the floor. A work bench on either side with shelving at the rear for storage. No need to worry about snow load in winter.
Wow yeah you did build it heavy duty! Thanks for the detailed comment. It’s true though you can build it to whatever your purpose for it is. That’s the beauty of making your own. The one thing I didn’t see you mention unless I missed it is what did you use for flooring? Thanks
My favorite part is seeing the picture of your babies ❤️ admiring you and your work. You are their Rock Star! Well, at least for now while they are little Lol!
We bought a house almost 7 years ago. In the very back of the back yard, there was this wobbly kid play structure, which our kids would never use because it was too scary. So almost 7 years later, my hubby finally brought it down and now we all this wood laying around. Some of the 2by 4’s are rotten as they were shoved into the dirt and not into cement. He told me he is going to build a shed as we really need one and there is no way to buy one and have it put back there. So thank you for your excellent video.
Wow that’s cool you can build them one now. Good luck with it!! If you like this shed build video you may like this one even more. Lots more details. ruclips.net/video/ABJQI8spi04/видео.html
That little shed is like a copy of my knife and axe-making workshop. Seriously, my whole shop is that tiny. Since I live in an apartment, I work out of a friend's 8x12 shed, which is mostly filled with my 2x72 belt-grinder right smack in the middle. Awesome video and shed by the way!
I have built a few sheds over the years and yours makes mine look sad. I never put overhangs because it is so difficult, was anyway until I saw your video. Great Job! My next shed will have over hangs! Thanks for the DIY video
Hey thanks so much! I’m glad if you enjoyed it. I wish you the best with your next project. I also made a newer shed video that has a ton of linformation in it if you want to see what you think of that one. ruclips.net/video/ABJQI8spi04/видео.html
I agree , I've watched tons of these videos and some are very complicated but this one is ez to follow, going this weekend to get materials for my little diy shed, thanks man!🔨
This video is freaking EPIC! Thank you for showing how a person can do this by themself. Many of us do not have help and have to go at it alone. I am going to use this as the template for my basic "one man cabin" on a section of my property. Thanks for taking the time to make this video. I learned more in this one video than I have in several others. Peace.
Thank you so much for the feedback and the kind words I really appreciate that! I’m glad if it was helpful. That sounds like a fun project! I wish you the best with it.
Excellent job... I like the way you built the framing before putting the steel on it... Shows how you can use the actual floor to build the trusses and walls... Great job!
interesting points ,if anyone else trying to find out backyard storage sheds plans try *WoodBlueprints. Com* Ive heard some decent things about it and my colleague got cool success with it.
I design roofs Overhangs are good, helps the building stay a lot cleaner and last longer, since water isn't running off the sides. Probably worth the extra effort. Nice shed btw.
@@ginabishop1500 Went to your recommended website for plans and they make you watch a sales video. I don't know how long the video is b/c I couldn't get past the first few minutes (boring). Why do marketers think this is a good idea to sell their product?
i watched the whole thing, it was well done. just enough info and not too much blah blah. it is on the list of motivators to get me off the couch and out back to put one up. thanks
Awesome build, I would have had the door swing outwards but only because I always pack my sheds so damn tight I would always have stuff for the door to run into.
Thank you so much. I don’t have a good detailed material list for this one but if you enjoyed this build you should like the next one I did as well, and that has a material list in the video description. Here’s the link ruclips.net/video/ABJQI8spi04/видео.html
Young Man, I learned a lot today from your video. I am learning from videos and books on how to build my own Greenhouse. I am 65 yrs. old and I am going to do it in 2020.
Wow that’s so awesome I’m glad if it was helpful and I wish you the best with your building!! I know you can do it! I made another very detailed shed video that is a long video but it has a lot of information if you want to see it. ruclips.net/video/ABJQI8spi04/видео.html
Kudos for the video content! Sorry for butting in, I would appreciate your initial thoughts. Have you tried - *WoodBlueprints. Com* It is a great one of a kind guide for building better sheds and woodworking without the normal expense. Ive heard some decent things about it and my cousin finally got astronomical success with it.?
Thanks yeah it came in handy for storing long stuff. You could live in this yes. If I’d live in it I would do a few Thing different, namely use house wrap before putting on siding and use a vapor barrier under the steel roof. Maybe even sheath the roof first. ThTs the main things. If you were to use spray foam insulation however you could use it as is potentially cuz that would seal out the moisture. Thanks for the comment.
Nice Video clip! Apologies for butting in, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you ever tried - Mahorrla Wooden Paradise Method (erm, check it on google should be there)? It is a smashing exclusive product for building better sheds and woodworking minus the hard work. Ive heard some great things about it and my work buddy at very last got amazing results with it.
Thanks for the Video clip! Forgive me for the intrusion, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you thought about - Mahorrla Wooden Paradise Method (search on google)? It is a great one of a kind guide for building better sheds and woodworking minus the normal expense. Ive heard some awesome things about it and my m8 at last got amazing success with it.
Very cool. If I build one I'd like the door/s to open outward. I know I'd fill my shed up and an inward swing door could cause issues. But hey, you can't beat a free door. Appreciate the video, I will definitely refer to it when building mine.
Yeah thanks for the comment. I know I like the free door and it was extra big but I do wish it would swing out. I could turn it around but the hinges would be exposed I’d have to figure out a way to do that so I would not have it be vulnerable to break-ins. If I built my own I would make them swing out
What a fantastic video! Very well done and it's so helpful that you explain a lot of the rationale of why you do things a certain way. You're very inspiring to a lot of DIYers. Beautiful work!
Thank you! I appreciate that a lot. If you enjoyed this build you may like my other shed that has a lot more details. ruclips.net/video/ABJQI8spi04/видео.html
Great video and thanks for posting. I always use plywood gussets over factory metal mesh plates and I like to use sub-floor adhesive and screws when installing the gussets. Makes an extremely strong truss.
Great job, shed looks roomy & the area to store stuff above is a real bonus. Overhangs, I believe are a must, here in Australia, overhangs save our structures from some pretty harsh elements, an investment which pays for itself in the long run. Thoroughly enjoyed your video, thank you.
Hi Valerie thanks for letting me know! I’m glad you’re watching from Australia! It’s neat to see where everyone is from. If you liked this one maybe you could watch my latest shed video and see if You like it too. It has wood siding but a lot more details. ruclips.net/video/ABJQI8spi04/видео.html thanks 😊
Thank you! You may also enjoy this video I did more recently with more details. ruclips.net/video/ABJQI8spi04/видео.html it has wood siding instead but a lot more info. Good luck with yours!
Every foot of overhang adds about 10 years of maintenance free life. If you add properly installed gutters it's more like 15 years per foot. (Up to 2 feet with diminished returns past that)
If You Want To Build A Reliable Shed, You Need Knowledge of Foundations, Piling, Planning and More ... So I'm giving you a comprehensive "how-to" guide on the basics of woodworking. Go here ==> *WoodBlueprints. Com*
Thank you! Yes it could if you would want to insulate it. If so I would put housewrap on under the siding and do a vapor barrier under the roof if you do steel roof.
Thanks so much I’m glad you liked it! It is a nice door. I wish too it would open out but it was free. Someday when it goes bad I’ll probably build my own. Thanks
I've always tried to figure out how to build a shed for my kids. I tried several plans but always got stuck along the way. I'm glad I found this Ryan's shed plans [ Go Here >>> *WoodBlueprints. Com* ]. It has made the work become as easy and simple as I never thought it will be. Thank you Ryan!?
Man you are very good teacher and works man. I’m looking to redo my wrecked shed in the garden and definitely this is very helpful to me. Thank you so much ...
Thank you so much for letting me know! I wish you the best with your project. Perhaps if you liked this one you would also like a newer shed video that I made with a lot more details. ruclips.net/video/ABJQI8spi04/видео.html
No 3 minute intro or 5 minute ride through the neighborhood while playing stupid music that wastes our data and time-your video gets directly to the point and no nonsense- EXCELLENT!!!!
Hey, nice job! I like the overhang myself. I was thinking of putting perforated Hardie material for the soffit, along with a ridge cap on the roof for venting. My purpose is supply storage and housing for a chicken brooder, twice a year for hatchlings.
I AGREE WITH YOU ON THE FACT THAT 1. IT DOSE LOOK MUCH SHARPER WITH AN OVER HANG ON ALL 4 SIDES... and 2. NOW YOU HAVING THE RAIN WATER 💦 (SHED)ING 👈🏼 [ Pun ] 😂 INTENDED AWAY FROM THE (BOTTOM) OF YOUR "SHED" TO KEEP IT FROM SINKING or ROTTING...... NICE COLOR COMBO AZ WELL. 👏🏼 ..... ( KNUCKLE👊🏽BUMP ) Smart Easy DIY.....
You should have had the door to open out it would give you more room inside the shed! But it’s a really nice job! I will be building an 8 x 12 x 7 to also have the room above and keep as much as possible off the floor! Great video!
Thank you! Yes actually if you check my Instagram I recently built a new door for it that swings out after a bear broke into this one. This door that I used wasn’t so nice about swinging in, it wasn’t made to swing out but I wanted to use the door at the time. Now the bear just prompted me to replace it sooner. Lol I actually made a newer shed video with a lot more details it’s a little bigger but it explains things a lot more thoroughly. ruclips.net/video/ABJQI8spi04/видео.html
Outta a lot of the vids I watched, this is the most informative and well explained. I’m more and more excited to build my shed next summer. Thank you for taking the time to make this vid!
Thank you I appreciate that a lot! I’m actually working on my next shed video right now which will be about the same style except all wood board and batten siding and trying to include a lot more details even if it’s a long video. 😊 Best of luck on your future build!
Yeah good idea if you get moisture. I’m not heating it so I didn’t worry about it but for sure if you’re insulating and heating it. In that case it may be worth sheating it with plywood.
Thank you Joseph I appreciate that so much!! I thought I did OK on this video initially but I did have a lot of questions so I have another one coming out in a few weeks hopefully that will have a ton of details!!
very good workmanship and thorough job performed there. congratulations and thank you for sharing it with us mortals. one little piece of advise would be that instead of steel sheets, if you use transparent or semi transparent polycarbonate or similar roof sheets, you could get more light into your shed without need for any additional windows.
Thank you! Yes that would be an option. Longer ago they weren’t the best material and would degrade over time but I think they’re good quality anymore. Thanks for sharing
Not only that, with overhang you can divert the rain water from running down the outside walls (especially wooden ones) and extend the lifetime of your fasad greatly. Also, overhang helps with removing/reducing water build-up in foundations.
Kudos for the video content! Sorry for butting in, I would appreciate your initial thoughts. Have you tried - *WoodBlueprints. Ive heard some decent things about it and my cousin finally got astronomical success with it.?
Great video. For those that want to build one of their own, it shows that it's not hard to do. BTW, The overhangs were the right way to go on this shed. Fit perfectly with the colours you picked.
interesting points ,if anyone else trying to find out backyard storage sheds plans try *WoodBlueprints. Com* Ive heard some decent things about it and my colleague got cool success with it.
Best video I have seen on DIY shed building so far. Need to catch up in a few terms and know what you put in the seams at the top of the roof, but this gives me a good idea of what I need to do.
Thank you Joe! Yes it’ll get you started anyways. I had so many different questions on this that I decided to do a very loooong detailed video about another shed build. Lol so that’s coming out this Saturday. It’s long but informative I think. Thanks
@@SmartEasyDIYer very nice. Just in time to plan my own DIY. Specifically, I needed to know what blocks to get for the foundation and how to lay the wood on it correctly and such. Hope to build a 10x12. Can't wait for the video. Thank you very much for the time and effort you put.
I feel motivated after watching your video, it is crisp and to the point. Overhangs makes the shed look like a shed, otherwise it's just a box with a funny looking roof. Great job Paul, thx for sharing. You've got a new fan.
This was a great tutorial. I like your method of overhangs better than the other suggestions I have seen. I especially like how you figured out the angle for the gables after you positioned the joists on the floor. You don't have to be so technical and tedious that way.
Yeah thanks I just screwed them to space them and tack all the edges and then nailed the rest of it. I just used a exterior deck screw that’s good for treated lumber.
@@SmartEasyDIYer Thank you for your reply. I changed my post after your reply, apparently. I need videos just like this because my dad is in North Mississippi and I live in extreme north Illinois. I benefit from seeing someone do what I want to do. Thanks!
That's a really good looking shed 👍 and I like your design too. The door is nice, you should see about getting outswing hinges for it and keep it from taking floor space. Just a thought but I really enjoyed the video, great work!
Nice video. I would have liked to see more info on measuring/cutting the proper angles for the roof trusses. Your explanation is probably good for someone with more experience than I.
Hey thank you Frank I appreciate the feedback! I actually have another shed video coming out in a few weeks hopefully and I cover everything in much better detail because of the feedback I’ve gotten on this video. So keep an eye out for that. 😊
Nice clever how you used the deck as a bench/building jig. One point you door should swing outward you lose a lot of storage space to make clearance for an inward swinging door.
Thanks so much! I had another comment this morning about that same thing. I do agree it would save a lot of space swinging out instead of swinging in. That would be a good thing to think about if you’re building your own door. My only concern doing that you would have to do it in such a way so someone can’t just remove your hinges and break in to take your stuff. I just used the door that I had gotten for free. 😁
Great job, Wish they had youtube when I built mine, though it is still standing after 25 years. Those overhangs really makes the shed look top quality and helps keep the rain away from the siding. I was going to say that 16" on center studs should be used but with metal siding the 2' should suffice. Anyone using the exterior panels like from Lowes or HD go 16" on center. When I built mine I went 2' on the gable end walls, after a while the siding would tend to buckle.
Thanks! Yeah depending on the siding you use 16” might be better, for mine the 24” was sufficient since the siding is heavy duty. Thanks for the comment
Excellent job... it looks great! I guess it's not a critical thing, but noticed you didn't double up the top plate on your walls, to lock the walls together. The shed looks much better with overhangs!
Very nice shed construction. From the video, your shed foundation appears to be on a grade. I'm not sure how the ground, underneath the floor, is going to act after years of rain water washing down.
Thanks. Yeah I have nothing but rocks so I don’t think it’ll go anywhere. Since it’s on skids I may eventually move it to a little different spot anyways.
My dad built one like it but a little bigger, back in 71. Nosy neighbor called the city and the city came out and said , it's a NO. NO , MUST HAVE A 32" DEEP FOUNDATION,
My dad in turn made a drop axle and put two wheels on it and told the city it wasn't a permanent Bldg it was portable. The Nosy neighbor again complained to the city , so my dad moved it in front of her kitchen window.

Never skip overhangs---- the roof should cover the walls. Even these minor overhangs add years of life to the building.
They do yes. Thanks

I agree , I've watched tons of these videos and some are very complicated but this one is ez to follow, going this weekend to get materials for my little diy shed, thanks man!🔨
Thank you I really appreciate it! Good luck with your project! 😊
Yep. Easy to follow and doesn't over complicate when explaining the process.
Thanks so much! 😊
I wish you the best with it.
ruclips.net/video/ABJQI8spi04/видео.html here’s a recent shed video I did that has even more details! 👊
Excellent job... I like the way you built the framing before putting the steel on it... Shows how you can use the actual floor to build the trusses and walls... Great job!
Thanks so much🙏 yes I found the floor make for a nice flat platform to build off of 😊
interesting points ,if anyone else trying to find out backyard storage sheds plans try *WoodBlueprints. Com* Ive heard some decent things about it and my colleague got cool success with it.
One of the best shed-build tutorials, just perfect, thank you.
Thank you! If you enjoyed that one you may like this one more. It’s different siding but a lot more in depth. ruclips.net/video/ABJQI8spi04/видео.html
@@SmartEasyDIYer THANK YOU.
You’re welcome. Good luck with your planning.
I design roofs
Overhangs are good, helps the building stay a lot cleaner and last longer, since water isn't running off the sides. Probably worth the extra effort. Nice shed btw.
Thank you! And thanks for the input. 😊
I agree 100% I think it looks a heck of a lot better too! ✌🏼
Thanks 🙏
@@ginabishop1500 Went to your recommended website for plans and they make you watch a sales video. I don't know how long the video is b/c I couldn't get past the first few minutes (boring). Why do marketers think this is a good idea to sell their product?
Hey Frank sorry I missed that comment I reported it as spam. They’re always trying something.
i watched the whole thing, it was well done. just enough info and not too much blah blah. it is on the list of motivators to get me off the couch and out back to put one up. thanks
Hey thanks so much for the feedback I really appreciate it!! Makes me want to make more videos. 😁
Awesome build, I would have had the door swing outwards but only because I always pack my sheds so damn tight I would always have stuff for the door to run into.
Yeah I definitely would’ve if I was building my own doors. Thanks.
Check my latest shed video I did double doors that open outside. 😊 ruclips.net/video/ABJQI8spi04/видео.html
One of the best shed building project I have watched. I learned a lot. But many of beginners like me would like material list if possible.
Thank you.
Thank you so much. I don’t have a good detailed material list for this one but if you enjoyed this build you should like the next one I did as well, and that has a material list in the video description. Here’s the link ruclips.net/video/ABJQI8spi04/видео.html
My Dad always put overhangs on everything. He said it kept moisture from destroying the sides of the building. 😎
Your dad is a smart man. 😊👍
It's cheap insurance. And very little extra work. Well done, Mr. Smart.
Thanks I agree it’s cheap insurance. 👊
I really like the roof, its colour seems to be calming, at least to me.
Thanks 😊 I think it goes well with most things. Especially in the woods.
The shed turned out great! A free door is a very good door.
Thanks yes it is! 😁
I like the door and window. Good idea storage up top. Looks real good. A person could live in this if need be. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks yeah it came in handy for storing long stuff. You could live in this yes. If I’d live in it I would do a few
Thing different, namely use house wrap before putting on siding and use a vapor barrier under the steel roof. Maybe even sheath the roof first. ThTs the main things. If you were to use spray foam insulation however you could use it as is potentially cuz that would seal out the moisture. Thanks for the comment.
That would make a great outdoor man cave
Yes it would! 😁

Nice shed.
Agreed .... overhangs on buildings, even sheds, make them look better. Walls will last longer as well. Looks good!
Thanks! I agree 😊 thanks for the comment. I like your username 😂
@@SmartEasyDIYer No.... Thank you for the video ... something to watch on these stay at home days.
You’re welcome 👊
If you want a really long video you could watch my latest shed video. It’s very long but it has a lot more details and Wood siding.
I like the way you did the roof. Trace and cut outs is so much easier than trying to actually do the math involved. Not being snarky that's for real
Thanks I appreciate that. Yes it takes the math and guess work out of it. 😁
Nice job! Find some old rain gutters and channel the rain water away to keep the rain from splashing on the sides/base of the shed. Again, nice job!
Thank you! 👊👊
If I built my own I would make them swing out
Great job, you keep the costs down, but you make it look amazing! The overhangs are great
Thank you!
Thank you so much!! Yes that does make for a very strong truss. 👍👊
If you liked this one maybe you could watch my latest shed video and see if
You like it too. It has wood siding but a lot more details. ruclips.net/video/ABJQI8spi04/видео.html thanks 😊
I don't have overhangs and all my wood is rotting. Go with the overhangs to control the rain especially if you have an all wood shed.
Thanks for the input. I know you meant rotting but it was kinda funny thinking of yours rioting!
@@SmartEasyDIYer rioting lol
@@SmartEasyDIYer Yes, thanks for clarifying.
I see you edited your comment so it doesn’t say rioting anymore. Lol
A shed with a strong opinion
The overhangs made it look even better. Good job!
Awesome thanks I appreciate that!!
I really enjoyed this video I am going to build my own shed soon you made everything seem really simple
Thank you! You may also enjoy this video I did more recently with more details. ruclips.net/video/ABJQI8spi04/видео.html it has wood siding instead but a lot more info. Good luck with yours!
Got to have over hangs. Especially for the non-gable sides. It just wouldn't have looked right. Nice job.
Thanks I agree i think it looks much better too.😊
Every foot of overhang adds about 10 years of maintenance free life. If you add properly installed gutters it's more like 15 years per foot. (Up to 2 feet with diminished returns past that)
Gable sides?

This is nice, it can actually be a tiny home
Thank you! Yes it could if you would want to insulate it. If so I would put housewrap on under the siding and do a vapor barrier under the roof if you do steel roof.
Thats what Im going to use it for while I build a permanent house.
This actually looks better than many houses
Thank you! 😊
Dude, it's a beautiful door. Even more beautiful that it's free
Thank you! 😊
I see you had two helpers on the job. Last shed I built I put fancy store bought siding on. I'll go with metal next time.
Yes I had some great helpers! 😁 one nice thing about steel is it’s very durable. Thanks
definitely a nice shed. and you need that overhang. My neighbor just built with no overhang and it just does not look right!
Thanks. Yes I agree they look much better. 😊
This is the best shed build video I've seen. BTW, that's a fine looking door.
Thanks so much I’m glad you liked it! It is a nice door. I wish too it would open out but it was free. Someday when it goes bad I’ll probably build my own. Thanks
Loved the floor and even better when you made the roof trusses super tips buddy 👍👍

Hey, nice job! I like the overhang myself. I was thinking of putting perforated Hardie material for the soffit, along with a ridge cap on the roof for venting. My purpose is supply storage and housing for a chicken brooder, twice a year for hatchlings.
Thank you! I’ve used hardie siding in the past. Seems like good stuff if it’s primed and painted.

Hey thanks for the comment. I get your pun that was pretty good. 😁 yes I am really happy how it turned out with the overhangs. 👍👊
Lol
I actually made a newer shed video with a lot more details it’s a little bigger but it explains things a lot more thoroughly. ruclips.net/video/ABJQI8spi04/видео.html

I enjoyed the way you put the roof trusses together. Nice work!
Thanks Mark 👊
The door looks good to me, good job.
Thank you! 😊
Good Job! Only thing I do different is to install a water, moisture barrier under the steel, otherwise you get condensation problems..
Yeah good idea if you get moisture. I’m not heating it so I didn’t worry about it but for sure if you’re insulating and heating it. In that case it may be worth sheating it with plywood.
Man, this is great, I wish I had one of these.
Thanks. Maybe you could make one 😉 😁

Absolutely fantastic video and great shed
Thank you terry!
Lots of nice little tricks in this video. Great vid.
Thank you!
very good workmanship and thorough job performed there. congratulations and thank you for sharing it with us mortals. one little piece of advise would be that instead of steel sheets, if you use transparent or semi transparent polycarbonate or similar roof sheets, you could get more light into your shed without need for any additional windows.
Thank you! Yes that would be an option. Longer ago they weren’t the best material and would degrade over time but I think they’re good quality anymore. Thanks for sharing
LED lights. Harbor Freight $2.99 for ones that look like light switch.
No overhang looks kind of "boxy", so you did well to put overhangs on!
Thank you! I agree. 😊
Not only that, with overhang you can divert the rain water from running down the outside walls (especially wooden ones) and extend the lifetime of your fasad greatly. Also, overhang helps with removing/reducing water build-up in foundations.

My new one is a 10 x 16 but all the same ideas apply. I think you’ll love it! 👍👊
@@SmartEasyDIYer excellent!
I feel motivated after watching your video, it is crisp and to the point. Overhangs makes the shed look like a shed, otherwise it's just a box with a funny looking roof. Great job Paul, thx for sharing. You've got a new fan.
Thank you so much I appreciate your input and support!
Thanks!
Hey no worries. I see you changed it. That’s ok. Best of luck going forward!
That's a really good looking shed 👍 and I like your design too. The door is nice, you should see about getting outswing hinges for it and keep it from taking floor space. Just a thought but I really enjoyed the video, great work!
Yes I agree I need outswing hinges or make another door I dono yet I’ll see. It was a free door but it would be nice to have more room inside.
Just seeing this video but glad I came across it! I will be using it as a guide to build my shed. Thank you!
Awesome I’m glad if it helped! Good luck with your build!
I will soon be doing the same thing for myself. thanks for the tips CHEERS
Awesome thanks, best of luck with your project!!
As the name suggests it’s really smart 👍👍
Thank you! I’m glad if it was helpful. 👊
Subbed because of this video and I haven't even finished it, yet! Looking forward to exploring your channel.
Thanks I appreciate the support!
Lovely looking little building

Nice video. The overhangs were the right detail. Looks great.
Thanks I appreciate that! 👍👊
yeah i agree the overhangs are a nice feature, plus always nice to keep water away from the building
Thanks for your input. 😊
Just came across your video. This is an awesome video. I love DIY projects. Very professional looking job
Hey thanks it’s nice to be able to do your own DIY projects. I really appreciate the feedback! I’m glad you like it. 👍👊
I was thinking of this today for lawn tractor storage. 6 ft.door, black metal roof to go with your brown siding and THIS IS IT.
Yeah man that sounds awesome go for it!! If you have Instagram post a pic of it and tag me in it.
I loved every minute of this video. Great shed, and every step was perfectly explained. A really enjoyable watch!
Awesome thanks so much I really appreciate that!!
Me too. Excellent video.
Englishman In England thank you! 😊
Change the door to open outward and that would make more usable space inside....Nice work!
I agree it would. I tried with this door and it doesn’t work. If I end up making my own some time I’ll make it swing out. Thanks
Give credit where credit is due! Good job dude! You managed to get all the key points across in a good time frame. A+
Thanks I appreciate very much!
Excellent job... it looks great! I guess it's not a critical thing, but noticed you didn't double up the top plate on your walls, to lock the walls together. The shed looks much better with overhangs!
Thanks! Yeah I figured for a shed it’s plenty strong. I have it tied together really well otherwise. Thanks for the comment
Cant you just dig a simple moat or swail around it, with a final drain-off down the grade?
Yeah I think you could.
