Hi fella. Besides more optimizing functions Is the 540 a big upgrade on the 440 or 340? And does the 12 inch coil out perform the 10 inch coil noticeably?
Would you say the Minelab 440 is better than a Garrett 300i? Currently looking at both, but the 300i 55th anniversary pack comes with the garrett pinpointer too.
I got one of those.. they gr8.. pick it all up.. even stones that have a metal content to it.. volcanic and meteorism? if one can decipher the difference.. lol.. Practice makes perfect.... and lots of JUNK! Just thought i add to my comment after reading others comments... this Vanquish 540 is the Only metal Detector anyone will ever need... it beats all others.. to much software and button clicking in other brands... it above a Beginners description in my Opinion... Highly recommended! Go and Buy one... 🙂
Not too bothered about what it looks like. Important thing is how well it detects. Keep hearing people saying they are going to show it working on the beach but so far absolutely nothing has appeared. That is a little concerning. Minelab are bigging up the 'Multi-IQ' even though there is a cut down version on the Vanquish. As any Nox owner knows, Multi-IQ works fantastically well on the wet sand. Will the Vanquish perform in a similar manner? Would be interested in the 540 but holding off until I see that it does indeed work well on the beach.
I found a 1943 Mercury dime at Kensington Metro Park Beach outside of Detroit down about 14 in.. that place has been hammered for decades and all those guys missed it. And I'm a beginner! That coin has had to have been down there since at least 1970 or longer
@@kayesdigginit1519 yeah your detector filters the trash above the good target but then you dig it up and find the trash first thinking it's the good target. Not all trash targets are made of iron.
Great video paul, cant wait for mine, got mine on pre order with spinadisc. Ive chosen the 540, it should be like a minelab explorer se but very updated. The user save option paul, what options have you got to set up with?
Looks pretty interesting, I know it has a backlight screen can the brightness be adjustable? Also I have read that the coil is waterproof so that is good in the wet grass but doesn't look to good if your in a swimming hole, I think multi iq came out with the explorers back in 1999 or 98 not sure. Neat machine, to bad it's not fully waterproof.
The waterproof coil will be OK for paddling/wading in surf and rivers, but it can't go swimming. Multi-IQ is much newer technology, Equinox was the first machine to have it, Vanquish is the second.
Thank you 👍 Gathering information about the Vanquish 540. Am I faced with the choice of the Vanquish 540 vs Equinox 800? I do not want to overpay for functions that are not used in real practice ... I am primarily interested in beach and underwater searches ... and sometimes a forest, a field ... In any case, I will seal the device. I want to understand the difference between these devices in: work in saltwater .... depth of target detection ...., separation of targets ..., sensitivity to small jewelry (targets) ..., response speed from the target .. .
the vanquish is not as powerful as the Equinox, not a waterproof control box but the search coil is waterproof, uses the same Multi IQ technology as the Equinox
@@paulcee I wonder what the difference is: in the 1. depth; 2. separation of goals; 3. sensitivity to small goals; 4. work in salty sea water; 5. possibilities of discrimination ... thanks.
I'm interested alot in one off them ,iv got 400i garrett but think 440 OK but which one will you get if you was picking thank you lovd them two ,540 vanquish 440 minelab
conductivity of the the detected metal, a negative number is iron, a positive number is non ferrous the numbers a in sections each with a different audio tone, iron being a very low tone and a high conductive target being a high tone
It depends if you want to go underwater then the x-terra pro but if just wetsand/ drysand or not underwater then the vanquish will have you covered as its not submersible
No, it's being inserted as the next tier up. Go find, x Terra, vanquish, equinox, e trac, CTX 3030. That's my understanding anyway. If I find the link about it again, I will add it
So there is really an Iron Bias adjustment on the 540? I mentionned it on another of our videos but I never had a confirmation about it, good to know! What is happening when ou enable the iron bias button while you hold it down? Is it changing how the machine recognize iron in the ID scale? I'm a bit confused with this feature. Never had a detector with it.
@@paulcee Thanks for the reply Paul, im sort of hoping that someone who see's this vid with experience of both machines will be able to give me some pointers, maybe its just too close to call though :-)

Has Garrett been involved with the design of the control panel? certainly looks ''Garretty'' to me. Also do these models have audio modulation as although lots of Pauls finds weren't overly deep the signals did sound a bit samey. I personally do use the fainter the signal the deeper the find way of doing things. Iv'e used and been a fan of Minelab for many years, however this model seems to lack the usual ''must have'' feel to it.I think i'll stick to my X terra and Explorer and wait for a few more field tests and owners comments.
I brought a 340 found a gold bracelet and ring, now I ordered the 540 which is basically free from my two finds! I can't wait till it comes just ordered today.

540 Higher end of the entry level. I'd pick-up the 540 over the ace 400.
Hi fella. Besides more optimizing functions Is the 540 a big upgrade on the 440 or 340? And does the 12 inch coil out perform the 10 inch coil noticeably?
Only in some cases.A 10" coil has advantages over larger coils. Bingo! No worries.🏆🤑
Picked up my 440 today
Hi there,
About to buy vanquish 540 3 years used are they good for first buy do they last?
They are great, will last if you don't bash it about too much, also the RNB battery pack is a great upgrade to give you a long battery life.

Most reviews suggest the Minelab is better. You get multi-frequency for a start

friend the Minelab Vanquish 540 how many frequencies transmits??????
In sunny conditions can u see the screen OK. Or does red back-light help if sunny please.
You can see the screen fine in sun
Can you turn off iron bias on the 340 and 440? When you are hunting for ww2 relics you cant search in high bias only.
Good machine ! Can w8 to see how perform on the beach ! Thanks Paul once again for the review !👍🤩
Looks to me as a great beginner machine. Thanks Paul. GL&HH
Love my Nox but personally I think this machines looks are awful. Think the Simplex will be king of the so called entry machines.
So looks over performance. Gotya!

They need a Multi IQ Pinpointer, so you can pinpoint curtain targets By just changing the frequency or run it at multi.
I agree big time. God if I could tune out aluminum on both my metal detector and my pinpointer I'd be a very happy detectorist 😂
