Nice review. Very sad to hear that Des passed away on 12th June. Always had a lovely manner about him. I am sure he had plenty more to share with us. Happy hunting wherever you are Des 👍
God bless you Des, like others I was looking for non bias reviews and it appears you are detecting the ploughed and rolled fields in heaven...see you on the other side mate...and thank you..
I purchased the 540 Pro Pack because I wanted the wireless head phones and wanted to upgrade from my Garrett Ace 400. I went to an area I have metal detected before and found a ton of coins that the Ace 400 missed. Why... I really don't know. I also found an unfired .357 round and a .22 casing. The Vanquishd is quiet and extremely accurate. Did not get any false signals while swinging. Well.... I sold my Ace 400. Good bye! One reason I purchased the Vanquish 540 was because of your review. THANK YOU.... Keep up the wonderful videos. Update: If you use the wireless headphones, it will use a lot of battery life. Very nice metal detector.
@Las Vegan thanks for reply! I’ve got the hang of it now thankfully and really enjoy using it. I’ve found several old coins and my brother even used it and found a gold 1837 half sovereign. (Metal detecting in Northern Ireland Co.Down)
Try to purchase the RNB battery pack, it's made just for the Vanquish models. It will give you 30+ hours on one charge. You just remove the front battery cover and clip in right into place, supposed to be an awesome unit. I'm going to pick one up soon, I'm planning to purchase the 540.
I did the same as you and didn’t buy the pro pack, but I did spend the extra 99$ and get the V8 8x5 coil for woods and trashy areas… and I’m glad I did😀 happy digging!
Nice work Des! Pretty fair review. I grabbed a 440 for myself, mainly to get the smaller 10" coil. Be perfect for my son who sometimes tags along. Switch on and go, doesn't really get any easier than that!
I run all minelab and simplex and i bought the V340 just to try it out and boy does it like tiny deep stuff, i have nwver dug so many 1.77 air pellets lol vut sure loves deep silver,, only problem i have is like you say, depth. I myself like to know how deep stuff is and with the vanquish doesnt give me that, everything is slamming but hay for 200 quid MULTI IW super simple to use ypu cant go wrong, be nice if it was waterproof and bit better made but you pay for whst you get Thanks for sharing HH
Mr Dunne I'm considering a vanquish for my daughter to he only concern is if it's nose heavy like an at pro she might not be happy using it excellent video thank you g
great video if you are still looking for a wireless headphone the Sound Blaster JAM V2 on-ear Bluetooth 5.0, aptX Low Latency works great with the 540 and cost 50 euro,s
Thanks for the review, Des. It's a shame to put out such a beautiful machine yet overlook something as simple as a decent bolt for the coil. I'm fortunate to still have a spare that you mailed me with the coil & shaft a few years ago. - Cheers
I liked your review. I'm a beginner and live in a very sandy area near a large lake. Was wondering if you'd recommend the 540 for a beginner? Have you tested this in sandy soil, fresh water beaches, and in fresh water? If so how did it perform?
I replied to your Q yesterday but can't see it? They put plastic over the seeds to create a kind of hot house as it helps to get it going here in the colder Atlantic area..after cutting it leaves a right mess that looks as ugly as hell!
I had an Explorer series, but sold it several years back. Kinda bulky, imbalanced and felt like it was over engineered with lots of modes as I spent more time making adjustments or studying the 150 page manual. Its a good machine and found a lots of stuff, but not a start up and go. Technology has come a long way since then.
I am a newbie in your hobby's field, and I watch you (almost) racing across the field, in what my untrained eyes ask... aren't you missing many potential hits, walking too fast? Is your detector good for sensing metals. outside of your sweep pattern? I would miss too many items, walking/sweeping as fast as you do.
Nice hunt! I have been using my 540 for about a month now,and have some decent finds. But i really need to do some test on masking in ground around iron,,i really feel like it is missing a lot,,got a feeling its only finding those good targets when no iron is present, but i could be wrong,,i am so use to single freq. So use to a target ID range that goes up to 100. I feel i am a better detective on that choice range. What are you're feelings on the 540 ? does it leave doubting?
hi des i am new to metal detecting and i got the ace 400i . i looked at your video of the ace 400i on the beach it beeps alot at nothing i i see. would a more expensive model avoid beeping at nothing ?
Don't need ground balance it's multifreq, and yes your wrong it's a amazing detector deep fast works any ware, loves gold and silver in any ground conditions,
This and fishing must be one of the very best gentleman's hobbies
So sorry to hear of Des's passing. A true gentleman . R.I.P. Dessi

I’m only new to metal detecting and got myself a 540 also. What’s the best mode you would use? I just find it difficult to fully understand.
@Las Vegan thanks for reply! I’ve got the hang of it now thankfully and really enjoy using it. I’ve found several old coins and my brother even used it and found a gold 1837 half sovereign. (Metal detecting in Northern Ireland Co.Down)
@Las Vegan yes I posted it on a couple of Facebook groups I’m in and they sell for around £1,000 and I’ve seen it up to £1,200. Nice days work lol.
@Las Vegan yes you too! Good luck 🍀

Pal, I've been trying to decide whether to buy the 440 or 540. You just helped me make my decision.
440 brilliant, too be honest
I'm getting the 540 too!
I love my Vanquish 440 together with the XP mi/4.
i’ve got the 540, the pinpointer mode is awesome and so accurate
Thanks for watching!
Looks like a decent machine, another enjoyable video.
It is!

Just get any model with the V8" coil: that'll make a huge difference. Thanks for watching and Comment.
The 440 is great too with better balance due to the 10 inch coil 😊
Merci pour votre vidéos

Many prospects areas in my place from WW2 ,the problem is no gold detector.. Just 2 meters.
RIP Desi...
Would love to know what the large copper coins were. Year, and value stamped. Market value icing on the cake. But year and denomination please.

what is the purpose of the clear plastic in the corn field?

Try the equinox. Class machine
Hi , In your opinion how does it compare to the Explorer 2 ?
Poles apart - a 21 year technology difference - but they "may" share "some sounds?"
So the vanquish came out after the Equinox series? The multi IQ technology is a form of multifrequency, but what range of Khz does it utilize?
All Minelab will say is it is between 5-40 kHz. That is as much as you will get out of them but it does the job so I am fine with that :)
Хороший коп, лайк!
Ditch the minelab batteries and replace with varta 2600 . Much better battery .
Good

...too early to say for sure after just five days or so..but I doubt it...have you experimented with Iron Bias Off and On...
Mark on my test bed 340 pick up targets which equinox with 6" coil missed so I think recovery speed is not a problem for vanquish
what would you prefer this model or the ace 400 ?
The Vanquish I had another great performance today
R.I.P
RIP Des
Maybe you could balance it with some weight on the armrest?

Hello
better vista x or vanquish 540?
which is deeper
Don't know. Not tested side by side? Sorry...

12" too big!!??🤣🤣
Who cares if it doesn't have automatic ground balance or manual ground balance it's junk
Your wrong!.....The Vanquish works well, especially for the $$.

Is it a good detector to start with??? Value for money?
The best starter great value for the money like I said works anywhere even wet sand
You must be new at medal detecting Your missing half the ground
Waste of money.. too much voice
