  • The Taj Mahal, the resort that upped the game in Atlantic City. Called the 8th Wonder of the world it wasn't just your typical casino. It was a mega resort. Construction started in 1983 when it was called Resorts Taj Mahal. After the developer died. Trump was on board and bided for the property. At a cost of about $1 Billion dollars, the property opened on April 2, 1990. The casino lost money however along the way. In the end, the casino was doomed. With Atlantic city growing in decine, and neighboring casinos in Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and Maryland opened the Taj closed its doors after 27 years on October 10, 2016. Soon after on July 6, a liquidation sale started. Hundreds flocked to the Taj to see what was left of the luxurious casino, at one point the highest grossing in AC. Over a month later I returned on 8/8/17 to see what was left. It was like a ghost town. Only a few people left. Slots removed and furniture from the rooms scattered in the lobby. But that isn't what I was here for. I was here for the Elevonic 401's. 10 of them in 1 bank with 5 others as service elevators. I met up with Mattyice0812 and together we filmed the elevators that traveled the 42 stories of the building. We discovered the glass elevator running and had a great time. The fate of the old Otis is uncertain. Hard Rock is planning to re-open the entire resort in 2018. What that means for the elevators, is unknown.

If you're in Atlantic City, I'd like you to film every elevator system at the Tropicana Casino & Resort because it's my most memorable home away from home in the Delaware Valley Zone. As you approach the elevator which goes up to the Casino & the Seaside Cafe, & down to the Marketplace, you must start on the 1st floor because if you take pictures of the casino, someone may steal your camera, meaning that he or she is committing a crime. Other than that, that accommodation is a must visit. Hopefully that casino won't go on strike like Trump Taj Mahal.

I believe that also there are guards that check for you key-cards, but I'll see when I can make it over there. And you can't go wrong with its 4 towers, in which I believe are Otis and some of them are glass.

0:08 This HAS to be a "stock" photo cuz that half of the poker room was boarded up a long time before 2017..

While that photo was stock, the poker room was well open during the liquidation sale. I actually managed to purchase one of the poker chairs as well.

I woulda have gone, but the liquidation sale was private and the last time it was open was before I started filming. I know what they had as well, glass Otis.
