    Adding a legacy mode where you play different eras would help the mode. DM/GX, 5Ds and XYZs where the card pool stops at the end of each era.

    Honestly formats IS the key to making the game better AND more profitable for Konami. They just make secret packs for those formats with their exclusive legal cards and staples. Like some people may think modern is a combo fest, others might think Goat, reaper and honestly everything before 5Ds is just the ape get luckier and draw the staples game. Yugioh has changed so much over the years and has so many vastly different eras giving people the choice is just a win win for everyone. Just tune the card list and make "new cards" for pre errata versions. Also even as a based Lab enjoyer this event blows

    I completely agree that we should have different formats for not only master duel but also tournaments in general. A couple other card games have formats which in my opinion keeps it interesting. Plus it would also be fun to see how they balance it all out. I personally play Buster Blader and have since I was very young and now I have to try and run meta cards to keep up which is a little rough. The modern way of the game is fun but I want to see more variety which multiple formats would give us.

    • @JusShae
      @JusShae Год назад +4

      @Honest_Mids_Masher Yes, fair point, but it has become overbearing. There is simply no moderation nor discretion. Play what you wish, but don't play an archetype that renders your opponent unable to enjoy the competitiveness of both your deck and their own.

    • @JusShae
      @JusShae Год назад +1

      @Honest_Mids_Masher Explanation, hmm, hand traps (I understand and am supportive of quick-play/quick effects), but being able to negate effects with no consequence is annoying to have a competitive game is not about OTK or FTK (unless your put in a last gasp situation and need to pull the right card to combo). IMO, yugioh is my favourite retro anime/game, and improving it with all these new things is great, but the creators are running out of ways to make them enjoyable. Ingenuity has to match up with enjoyment, not one over the other. Simple.

      Literally incorrect. Tear has 2-3 (only one of which is an omni) negates usually. Branded has 0. Kashtira has no negates. Just like any other game has multiple modes to stave off staleness, more game modes will help. It's just important that they pay attention to the numbers and keep the ones that are popular while dropping the ones that aren't played. It'll be a process but a needed one. Eventually they could even have a schedule where during each day of the week they have a mode of the day. The hard part is just making they listen 😅

    I think the biggest problem that not everyone will agree with is as follows: it’s very hard to pick up it’s like trying to play call of duty 3 for the first time when everyone else knows how to play for years on end, there is no easy way to pick up the game. And yes there is a tutorial in master duel but if your trying to play IRL you either have to read a panflit or watch a bunch of RUclips videos. The second problem is a problem overwatch is facing rn. The good decks keep getting buffs or are getting new support. A way to “fix” ( kinda ) yugioh is to ban what is needed not what is wanted, and to fix cards, for example Laval chain ( as Seerax has said ) is only broken because it can be made so easily and can be put in any deck, but if it was for only Laval monsters then it could be more fun to play with and against. This goes with basically any card that is so basically ( also like needle fiber ).
    Basically long story short don’t make everyone have to play one of three or four decks to be able to play the game. I think yugioh could come back if any archetype could be played and be able to have fun with. Like dark Mahican has so much support but things like Vylon doesn’t, some people won’t even know what that deck I mentioned is. Like think about it like this. The decks you have to play to win: Kash,Tear,Ishizu,Floow, Labyrinth, punk, some branded concoctions, Runick, or sword soul. You shouldn’t have to play these decks to enjoy yugioh, and anyone who says differently, play a pure archetype deck not listed above or that isn’t meta rn, and see how much fun you have. But unfortunately this will never happen.

We just use old cards and have fun building new decks, not just using the same 3 decks everyone else uses

      You can still do this with modern cards, this is competitive, a place where fun isn't as important as wining. Of course playing with your friend is gonna be infinitely more enjoyable than playing meta, because you can just choose to not play the things you find boring.
      Don't like hand Traps? Then we won't play handtraps. Don't like floodgates? Then we won't play floodgates.
      You can't do this with random people. A random guy you find in ranked may want to be in the highest rank, and as such will use the best deck to do that. You can't force him to not combo off for 5 minutes to guarantee his win just because you find it boring.

If I were to fix modern YGO I would completely un-nerf Pendulum and stop putting out Band-Aid fixes to problematic decks because that just makes more broken decks. Instead I'd invest in specialized support for each deck that makes it playable but not broken, like Konami did at the beginning of the Link Monster era.

And even playing against tutorial bots, I would still get my ass handed to me constantly. 5+ cards on the field with 1-4 paragraphs of effects each, such tricky wording on the card's effects (effects that "send" cards technically being different then effects that "destroy" cards - even though they both SEND the targeted card to the GY. Just one example), getting my whole field wiped because I glanced over one sentence on a card hiding in my opponents GY, 17 different ways to summon monsters, bringing out multiple boss monsters on the first turn and almost completely blocking you out from even playing the damn game... like jesus... it's so frustrating.

  • @necrotichealer8190
    @necrotichealer8190 Год назад +1

    For what it's worth coming from a bit of a weird perspective of someone who grew up alongside it, the TCG came out when I was 5 and I begged for the first starter decks, yet at the same time didn't like OG and still don't, I personally like combo style decks and hold the uncommon opinion that Yugioh didn't really start to get good and find its footing until Synchro cards started to show up.
    I 100% agree that Master Duel needs more formats so that the most people can play, it's a simulation of the game, so more modes and formats and options is an undeniable good and healthy for the game. Also ban Maxx C, that card kills so much potential for deck diversity cause you always have to play Maxx C and the cards that counter Maxx C that of Ash Blossom and Called By in every deck ever.
    I think as far as the actual paper game I have a few ideas that might help or might not help:
    First, get rid of "missed timing" that is the absolute dumbest thing in the whole game and needs to be torched and ashes scattered
    Second, banning all FTK and Floodgate cards, it's not fun in any way, shape, or form to either be stunned out of playing the game or die by some extremely complicated FTK, sure it was funny as Hell the first time, but after that the genie is out of the lamp and it's lost all it's fun.
    Third Konomi needs to give new paper players some kind of official resource that teaches all the most common interactions in Yugioh as well as all the summoning mechanics. The two player starter set looks promising and appears to be a step in the right direction, but it hasn't come out yet so I can't pass any real judgement.
    I think that's a start and only time will tell on this one.

    1. Connection failure (Even when you have good internet) this is bad if you have a good starting hand! And you lose Rank
    2. *Time Burn:* _(If you have a card set, on your opponents turn whenever they activate an effect it will chain and your timer will go down)_ (If they take 2 years to end their combo. You're left with only 60 - 90 seconds to make your combo or you lose!)
    3. "Bad shuffle!" (If masterduel wants you to lose, you will lose. I once drew into terraforming, then next turn metaverse then next turn my actual field card, like wtf?!)
    4. They bann or limit cards that help you against meta decks. (If they want to ban cards, ban DPE, or mirrorjade or Masquerade. They're cancer!

Some play with friends and some don't, the problem is Konami and these online sims don't take that into account. all sorts get mixed together by being so lazy with banlist for these decent events.
    Doesn't help a lot of Yugitubers give mixed signals by wanting less powerful things...but then meme on casual or low tier things right after, and Casual Yugitubers don't get much attention especially in TCG. This is why I didn't even bother touching the game until a year after its release- I knew what it was from my first glance.
    They give you a bunch of upstart cash, then pull it all away. New players are expected to jump in, do some tutorials to get the rest of your easy money, then blow it all on one meta deck. The deck I went with in this mode is a deck that allows me to put some respect on Alexis Rhodes name: Cyber Angels. The next character whose name going to get the respect is Ms. Hibiki, if you don't know who she is, read the Yugioh GX manga for she is the one uses the Darklords, sn archetype of dark fairies. Then there is Reggie whose strategy is to bring out her boss fairy: The Splendid Venus.
    Now for a different format, I always say the limit one format was awesome. The only change to it is allow cards like the vanilla Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Cyber Dragon to be at three with regular Polymerization at two. All other cards is at one unless a fusion needs more of one card name.

  • @grantmessner7676

    I completely agree. I am an old school player (Was doing tournaments before Invasion of Chaos came out) Modern Yu-Gi-Oh is like playing a one sided video game. Which can be fun if your opponent is a computer, but it is not. It is a human that wants to play as well. You are removing back and forth interaction. There is no fun in having to wait 10 minutes until you get to make your 1st move. I literally sat one time, and watch a guy take 15 minutes and over 50 moves turn 1, before I got to play a card. That eliminates the interaction between players. You need back and forth, and strategy against the player's strategy. Not just have floodgates. The older cards used to have drawbacks if they were powerful. Like they were hard to summon, Or their strong effect, effected you as well, plus the monster has a weakness. Jinzo for example, You can't play Traps either, and a you wouldn't be able to negate a magic card from destroying him then because of that. I literally read cards that say 'can not be destroyed by battle, and unaffected by card effects'. Like WHAT? That's ridiculous, things have to have a weakness. Like Spirit Reaper, if targeted he destroys, so that combats his not destroyed by battle.

    Link monsters are where things really got off the rails. The Extra deck was supposed to require effort to use, you used to need Polymerization (or it's equivalent) and you needed the 2+ monsters to fuse. With Synchro you still needed something special for the summon to work, tuners. Then multiples of the same level with Xyz, a lot easier to bring things out. And with Links, it's easier than it's ever been. Of course, there are Main deck cards that are too fast in the same way, but they had to keep the speed that way to match Links.
    The game is just too fast in general and the introduction of Links is when they pretty much decided to keep it fast and see what happens... This is what happens.

    • @Sigmaairav
      @Sigmaairav Год назад

      It isnt fast. its slow. It's one of the slowest games I ever played in my life.
      "Fast" is not defined by how much action density players can pack into a single turn no no, "Fast" is defined by the ratio between density of actions per turn and time taken per turn to perform those actions. The ratio in modern yugioh in this regard is heavily out of balance with the scales tipped firmly in the direction of maximum time taken per turn to perform a turn.
      The consequence of packing so many actions into one turn is that it takes more time to do that one turn. Players spend more time waiting than playing if it is not their turn, and the turn players spend less time playing with their opponent and more time playing with themselves. Time is dominated by one player in a one-sided manner BECAUSE of their long combos and strings of card searches, summons, interrupts etc.

    • @steveny5338
      @steveny5338 Год назад

      @@Sigmaairav clearly you're missing my point. Fast as in you can fill up your field or pull a boss monster very easily. The way you can special summon your whole deck and extra deck and with little to no effort. And yes, I'm aware it's not always like that, but the fact that the possibility exists and can be taken advantage of, that and cards that literally stop your opponent from playing the game, they've made the game less fun for newcomers and returning players.
