- Had a fun day with my friends relaxing by the riverside enjoying a hanami picnic and then went to Nakameguro to view the beautiful nighttime sakura 🌸 It was super busy of course but it is really beautiful! Then checking out the grand opening of Japan's biggest anime store, the Animate in Ikebukuro 🙊
The first part of this video was filmed on April 1st while the second was actually filmed in mid-March 😅 I wasn't happy with the footage because it was too crowded to film properly but I decided to upload it anyways since I wanted to publish a sakura vlog before the season totally passed...though the sakura shown in this video are all past-peak now and are nearly green 😭
The new Animate store was impressive but GOD I WISH THEY HAD AN ESCALATOR WHAT IS WRONG WITH THEM!!!! AHHH!! They had one escalator at the beginning that deceives you into thinking it will have them for all the floors, but no...They did add two more elevators finally but still, an escalator would be so so nice...and I don't know personally it felt a bit empty to me?? Emptier than before?? In terms of merchandise available...did anyone else who's been there feel this way? Or maybe I was just overwhelmed and they were sold out of a lot, I'm not sure lol

Today is kind of a random vlog with footage I wasn't sure what to do with because I became really busy!! Sorry the audio and filming is kind of all over the place sometimes, please treat this as a random one so I can get back on schedule with uploading hehe...moving videos coming soon 😇
Ahh I loved it. It’s fun to see when you’re just walking around the city and in stores! Animate looked fun too!
When I was in Ikebukuro and entered three shops in a row that sold pretty much only pins, I couldn't believe how even one of those stores could survive. The next day I saw multiple people in the metro with those bags that are completely full of pins on at least one side. The dedication of japanese fans shouldn't be underestimated.

I landed in Japan about 2 weeks ago. I’m studying abroad for a semester and here until August. I’m in a pretty small town. I watched a lot of your videos before I got here. The trains are more expensive than I expected lol

Hanami + Animate in one vlog 🤩
The new Animate is awesome. I was there 3 weeks ago and it was already less crowded. With all this space they really had a lot of old Series' merchandise as well, which is nice!
Oh I’m so excited to see this new animate now after I saw your video. I personally prefer those shops over the secondhand ones because most of those secondhand shops are too chaotic for me. I already liked this animate in Ikebukuro when I visited in December. But now with this more space it must be awesome! They even have clothes now! So great!!! Thanks for showing!

We were at Animate back in March when they opened. It was our first trip to Japan and we absolutely loved it. Many thanks having your RUclips Channel. We watched a lot of them before the trip. My daughter is an aspiring anime artist and I'm pretty sure she's convinced she wants to move to Japan when she is old enough. She's a tween. ;)

Agree with you about Animate. I went the same time as I had a trip to Tokyo. It was over crowded and I didn't think the merchandise was that great. 2nd hand stores were so much better.

The new Animate store seems a little bit like building a Uniqlo store that’s twice as big - they have room for twice as much of each item, but not necessarily twice as many unique items. I’m guessing a store like that probably can’t source the more unusual things from smaller companies. But Animate should be perfect for buying my drawing supplies, and anything from any current hit series. But really, I’m just as interested in finding BL doujinshi nearby at Mandarake….
We’re planning on staying in Ikebukuro during our upcoming trip, and probably won’t bother going to Akihabara. (Akiba might have some interesting stores, but I don’t speak or read Japanese, and we’re not hardcore gamers, so I probably couldn’t appreciate the really odd or unusual items.)
Yes, that is a good way to describe it! The manga floor was definitely much better stocked but the merchandise really felt the same as before so it was disappointing 🥹

You saying the new Animate store feels empty is so accurate! I was kind of disappointed in it. I feel like they have the same goods you can find at other stores, just with more space in between? Which isn't a bad thing per se but especially the upper floors are just mostly empty. All in all it makes me ask myself whether they even needed this much space.
On a positive note, the craze has died down and if you go on a weekday now, it's not particularly busy anymore!

Yes Animate has a decent amount!! Second hand stores also may have it but I’d go to a large animate like this one if you want guaranteed merchandise 👍

I was in Animate on opening day, it was sooooo crowded x) i had to wait for 2h to pay for my 2 T-Shirts But overall: a very nice store, wish i could've visited it with a little less people inside :D

@@AllisoninTokyo My stepbrother asked me to get a Dragonball shirt for him and there was the only good one i found so far so i wanted to get him this one and got myself a Hatsune Miko Pixel Shirt and some stickers so it would be worth it a little more 😂 the worst part was that i had no internet on my phone (don't know why i had no signal there) so i was standing there staring into space and feeling my lifetime running by 🙃

I like【Uniqlo】and【Hellokitty】the most also i like store【Muji】that contains tons of inexpensive and practical items.
