Am I the only one who had an obsessive state in which I would draw like 10 pages a day when I was 12-13 😂
Yes!!
I did that in a burst of energy at 3am a year ago because I didn't like the way my sketchbook looked. It was so blank and loveless because I can't draw when I'm stressed and school stresses me, so now the sketchbook just breaks in completely and halfway through it's full with color, paper, glue, paint and time consuming art. I just wanted to finish the sketchbook in less than a month, 100 pages and I somehow managed in one and a half :)

Thanks for the amazing journey! For beginners, I assure you, you don't need to draw from your early childhood to become good. I've been an art teacher in a community center for a while and saw HUGE progress in 8 weeks from most of my students. Some of them were elderly who never got to draw after the age of 8 because of school shaming. With a nice teacher and determination you all can do it!

Yes. I returned to drawing in 29. I draw for 3 years, and it's amazing. I'm learning very, very fast. Faster, than it could be in childhood. I know, what I want.
This is sooo wonderful- I especially love that you will say "oh that one is good" and "that one came out really well" about your work. I feel like so many artists are putting themselves down in their videos, and saying how terrible their work is! I love that you can appreciate your own art! It's wonderful!!! I've been through long periods of time where I was pretty negative about my own work too... but being positive, embracing my shortcomings and being proud of just trying my best has really helped me and made me improve a lot! 💙

I’m 22 and I’ve only just really started trying to draw. It’s been a struggle but things like that motivate me because you can really see the progress!

Thank you for sharing such personal drawings. My favorite thing about all of your sketchbooks is how consistently you use all the space on most pages. Front and back, full pages with many drawings. Its so beautiful.

It's nice meeting you through this video! I've never seen your art before. I feel very privilegied to see all that progression drawing by drawing. It's an honor I've rarely seen from other artists. I also kept sketches in folders since 2001, when I was 11 too. I was more a free sheets than sketchbooks when I was a teenager. I use sketchbooks for the last 10 years, but still rip them off to fit in the folders. I revisit them sometime and it make me see the journey and the progress I've made. Even when sometime I stop drawing from long period of time because of mental illness. Keep going the good work! You have good English skills too. English is my second language after French, i'm pretty sure I would'nt sound as confident as you are. You got a follower ^^

This is so cool to see, because I've been drawing everyday for years now, but it became a chore. I trapped myself in a box of having to fill a new page every single day, even when I didn't want to. I loved art and drawing, but I made it so difficult for myself. So lately, I'm trying a new approach to my sketchbook and art in general of following my passion. This video taught me not to take my sketchbook so seriously and to have more fun with it. I want to be more free and experimental like you have been, so thanks a bunch! :D
Beautiful work, seeing the progress you have made through the years is really fascinating, thank you so much for sharing, great artist always say that you have to practice, and do it again and again, seeing all the sketchbooks you have filled with thousands of portraits I believe it. The positivty you have toward your art is contagious. It's really nice seeing an artist not beat down their earlier work. Your progress is really inspriing too! I would recommend raising the volume of the video. Also this video could have been split into parts. You put so much effort into it, so it would create more content for you and it would be easier to watch if it came out in chunks.
I want to be helpful so I hope this doesn't come off negative. This was great though I'll probably come back to finish it later

Im 21 now (from Germany) and when I was 13 we drew the same patterns(the colorful), topics, tryed out similar styles (anime, TopModel-Magazines, partially Disney esp. with the eyey)... I was starting to draw in this situation as well and honestly I love it
My art still look best whenever I'm drawing on notebooks, which is why many of my sketches are still made on lined paper and finished/edited afterwards :D
School was traumatizing, yes
But it made me look for another place to wander off to, whenever it was to much and that's still what art means to me
Traumatizing school is what made art a safe space for me if you want so 😂
Also: Graphite was THE thing ofc, because that's the only thing I had :,)

I know the dates don’t match but you should glue your loose drawings into the sketchbook that wasn’t finished. At least you can fill it and not lose your loose papers :)
