Any soft surface needs some flaps for more wing lift and less power needed.. Good to use 10 degrees flaps on taxiway too.. We call them "Taxi Flaps".. Im a Bush Pilot CFI..

When you landed, I noticed you landed on all 3 gear at the same time, is there a reason you did that for the soft field landing?

Hello - I know a student who did not pass their private pilot check ride because they were unsat on their soft field landing due to touching down past the half way point of the runway. It was a simulated soft field landing on a long enough runway and they safely taxied off but the check ride was a bust due to landing too far down the runway. This situation was never addressed during training, it does however make sense, it could be dangerous to land so far down the runway.

Hey I was wondering what your opinion is on turning carb heat off at a short distance above touch down on a soft strip to protect the engine from the unfiltered air?

+Danny Beyer hey Danny, I often will turn it off around 50'-100' partly due to the unfiltered air, but more because I want full power available right away in the event of a go around. Carb heat on tends to fowl spark plugs too which can make jamming the power in rapidly pretty interesting

Great video. Would love to see a picture of how the camera is mounted on the ceiling. The 1956 model that I am training on doesn’t seem to have a solid place to mount where this camera is.

Each plane has a bit different interior, on your next annual have your IA show you what is under the upholstery and where you might be able to attach it!

In the video, we can observe how you apply flaps while in the left turn. Is it OK to do that?

Changing the lift component in a turn is frowned upon by some CFIs, others don’t care.
