I find Angron the most tragic of all the Primarchs. From being someone who would sooth the emotions to having the Butcher's Nails is just so 😭

@@LordGadwin Horus didn’t conquer his, to be fair he was found early on but still. Neither did Ferrus. The Twins really didn’t do much either. Mortarion was most of the way there but didn’t conquer it completely. Kurze, sure he conquered it but the planet became 10x worse once he left it. Angron gets memed on but I don’t think any of the other Primarchs would have done better on his planet. They’d have had just a rough a time as Angron.
You know you're a badass when a Grey Knight Librarian has an aneurysm just breaking your sword; then you keep punching almost all of his brothers to death.
I feel that Angron would have been a Lorgar if not for growing up a Gladiator slave. He was a sensitive empath who cherished his brothers and sisters in arms. He even took their nightmares unto himself so that they might sleep better.
He genuinely was a kind and decent soul who was betrayed time and time again :/
@@Lost7one The emperor for one, in all his wisdom and with all the material under his command, he could not be bothered to help Angron win his defining battle moment on Nuceria, nor did he even bother looking for a way to undo the damage of the nails. He just threw him at his sons and said 'Have fun champ see you never'
@@satch5471agree with you entirely, however I'm fairly sure they did attempt to figure a way to remove them. Yet could not remove them even from a primarch without killing him. It was truly irreversible. I could be wrong or it might have been retconned but I'm fairly sure this did happen.

@satch5471 Actually, no. The reason he did it is because the butcher's nails meant that Angron now had a timer. The Primarchs were supposed to be eternal generals and diplomats, but the Nucerians broke him with the nails. The only reason Angron would have survived after the Emperor rescued him would be to give him something to hate, something to feed the anger the butcher's nails caused. So The Big E did just that. By not saving Angron's gladiator brothers and sisters, he caused Angron to hate him so much and be so angry that he wouldn't "expire," so to say.

Baldermort does another amazing reading of the new lore . It was a great story just a shame how terrible of a loss it was for the Imperium.
Angorn was once one of the most tragic figures of the Great Crusade, one who lost his way from the Light of his Father and his Imperium, but now he is little more than a raging beast whose endless hunger for skulls and blood will never end, and his yearning for his Death will forever be denied.

There is still the possibility of true death for demons which certain weapons can achieve for example the blade of the emperor which is now in Guillimans hands if I'm not mistaken.
It's crazy that we have this amazing universe, pack with the most detailed and intricate lore, layered characters, captivating factions, and so much more yet the best official content we get from it is Hammer and Bolter. Which looks like it was done by a first year animation student.
It is the fans who are creating the content that defines it. People who do it for love and not for a dollar. In fact they pay to make the content that has grown WH40K.
I personally have zero interest in the figures or the tabletop. I am here for the lore, and outside of the novels, it is the fan content that got me here and keeps me coming back.
In this arks of omen khorne basically stood up and showed to nurgle and tzeench how its done. Also Gman can't really take a break doesn't it?

It's been stated by an imperial person that the battle sisters still had their holy light when corrupted still meaning that deep down they still had faith. That's powerful. Like Larana when she was possessed she was screaming inside her mind in horror and in the end of her story the daemon possessing her got rid of her as a host and she was on the vurge of insanity but not corrupted anymore. She and a fellow imperium member both blew up and she was happy to die as she nodded and smiled at him because she could be at peace. Maybe it's like that they are inside their minds seeing everything happen but have no control over what they are doing and can't stop. Which is very horrifying and fits right in in warhammer. Some can even resist it all together.
I'm more than happy with how Angron's return has been done in lore. I just wish World Eaters still had Red Butchers Terminators in their Codex.
I wish the added the Blood Pact officially to the World Eaters.
They add a ton of balance to the faction and they're just awesome.
I wish they had Red Butchers too. Hopefully in 10th. 🤞
yeah, compared to DG and TS the World Eaters Codex was kind of a letdown.
Does anyone secretly wish that every time they read a novel that involves abaddon, that a real good anti hero protagonist would somehow slash off that top-knot? Not even kill him, just snatch the top knot. You know how furious that would make abaddon? I would laugh for days
Abaddon is an anti hero in the black legion books.. he hates the pantheon and is disgusted by horus... if it wasn't for all the genocide of civilians he be pretty likable
@awake and watching I haven't gotten to read those yet. I'll have to check them out. Cause the abaddon you get to know in the horus heresy books is just horribly unlikable. I mean there's Def room for growth tho in the 10k years between that and the black Legion books so you're probably right.

It's a lesser version of the problem of the tyranids as a primary foe. Particularly in comparison to an enemy as richly articulate as other Chaos Space marines and their primarchs can be!

May I suggest content: I'd like to hear your opinions and takes about Constantin Valdor over the recents reveals and connections to the Yellow King
It's revealed in the Eisenhorn, Ravenor and recent Bequin Sagas and is hinted in the book Valdor, Birth of the Imperium.
At the end if the day a nice guy who learned to love and protect Lorgar before the last 100 war hound librarians could kill him...and lifting that titans legs.
There was only 20 librarians by the time Angron saved Lorgar the first time (e.g the titan leg) there was even less when Angron saved lorgar a second time (when the Librarans decided to attack lorgar to stop him from turning Angron into what he is now)

For so many years angron was a victim of character assassination. The GW writer's side line him for the loyalist primarchs. Yet out of all the primarchs angron has the most compelling, interesting, and tragic backstory. If any of the primarchs deserve better treatment then what thay where given it angron.Finally in the arks of omen story he was given justice

I have to wonder if Lorgar truly understood just what his ‘saving’ Angron actually did to him and the horrific torment it entailed that left him little more than a maddened beast.
Did he feel sorrow over the result, or had he become so hopelessly delusional that he legitimately believed the end result was a better fate than death?
The Thing is imo the only thing Angry Ron ever wanted was true death and becoming a raging Demon made him wanting to die even more and I think Lorgar did not really care about Angron at all

Lorgar’s sycophants called him selfless, but his actions showed the exact opposite & I think Guilliman’s assertion he was always an insecure & irrational child desperate for attention who always flew off the handle at any imagined insult is the most accurate encapsulation of what Lorgar always was.
@@veritasome5965 yeah imo turning Angron into a demon was his way of showing his obedience towards the Chaos Gods and kinda showed him wishing for ascension as well if you know what I mean
i dont think he did. i recently listened to the betrayer audiobook, and i think lorgar was just manipulating angron. he wanted a conduit for his ruin storm, and offering angron as a sacrifice to khorne seemed to have been part of that ritual. which is tragic because angron didnt understand that. even as his librarians tried to prevent lorgar from selling his soul to khorne, he defended his brother an slaughtered them.

Angron is the most miss understood Prinarch. He went through all that, yet he still managed to cultivate a virtue…his loyalty to his fellow slaves. That says a lot.
Why the emperor didn't just show Angron mercy and behead him right when he found him. I mean you didn't even need the ability to to see the future to see Angron wasn't going to be a asset
The Nobel option: The Emperor was a father and could not bear to lose another son. The Practical option: The Emperor arrogantly thought he could keep Angron in line.

Khornes 2nd choices. Originally the Blood God wanted Sanguinius and the Blood Angels, but had to settle for Angron and the World Eaters.
Actually Khorne wanted Both but could only get the WE because Big Boy Sangui was uncorruptible ;)

3rd choice i think. he wanted sanguinius first, but they were incorruptible. then he wanted rogal and his imperial fists, but rogal was too busy fortifying earth to think about blood gods. and then he had to settle for angron because no one else wanted to bathe in an ocean of blood and make a big skull pyramid. and angron didnt even join khorne willingly, he had to be offered up by lorgar as some sort of sacrifice.

@philip8498 Angron is one of the saddest stories of the setting. Originally his Primarch ability was something of a healing role. He was able to take away the pain of those around him. Then he was broken against his will by the nails and couldn't be fixed. The Emperor basically washed his hands of Angron and just decided to get as much use out of him as possible before he dropped. Tragic really

Anyone else think that the Choral engine was not used very well as a writing device? Basically a device that would change the balance of power for the entire Imperium Nihilus, but it got destroyed the same book it was introduced in so we never actually got to feel like it was important. From a lore standpoint, why did humanity from the Dark Age of Technology create what is essentially a superior version of the Astronomicon that ran on psyker juice?
I have heard conflicting information about the subject so could you please give me the answer if you know, could the Emperor remove the nails from Angron? Because I've heard he could but it would have taken the Emperor to take them out and basically rewrite Angron's nervous system to correct the damage. But that doing it for Angron would have delayed the return to Terra and resumption of the webway project. Great video and thank you for your loyalty to the lore and to us fans.
A mix of my two cents and some of the little lore there is about this topic, unfortunately no deep dive into this part of the lore with the Emperor telling Malcador or anyone else the exact details is out there, so we are left to speculate and try to put the bits and pieces together. I certain our favourite Uncle Baldy could word it better but here goes.
The Emperor did want to remove them, and he would’ve been able to if Angron had been human. But as a Primarch, his physiology was different enough that removing the Nails would’ve meant killing Angron. You see when the Emperor made his Primarchs he had never considered them being stolen from him, much less tortured and mutilated with devices from the so called, Dark Age of Technology. He made the Primarchs to be peerless warriors able to recover from any wound that was not instant death. (Obviously we discount Vulcan here).
The true nails (not the cobbled together, reverse engineered tech given to his Legion) were described as being an invasive cybernetic device constantly repairing the damage Angrons' Primarch body was doing to them in it's effort to reject the nails. So in order to remove the nails Angrons' body would have to be turned off, for want of a better phrase but, doing that would grant the nails more ability to overcome his mind and re-write his brain to suit the demands of the nails, while the surgeons rushed to remove the device and turn him back on again.
If Angron had been a baseline human or even a space marine with their enhanced powers of healing, surgery could have been an option as their bodies could not heal the cuts made by the surgeon quickly enough. Essentially an adult Primarch was too good at healing, in no normal instance was it thought that surgery would be needed for a Primarch. It was because the nails were put in when he was a child and his powers had not fully matured at that time, that Angron was doomed.
Remember the Emperor had planned for them to be raised and educated on Terra before putting them to use in his grand designs to restore the Human species to dominance in the galaxy. They would never have left the safety of Terra until they had matured and were ready.
