Congrats on your achievement upon doing the Laugavegur trail and that you enjoyed the experience. Much appreciated that you found our video useful. Regards, Martin and Sharron
Sharron & Martin, what a stunning landscape to walk through. The variety of terrain was brilliantly captured and the contrasts of light were beautiful throughout, especially with the snow. Stunning time lapses - loved the cloud moving in opposite directions at different heights. The campsites looked pretty cool (hopefully with few flying and biting insects). That river gorge looked pretty spectacular. The only thing missing was footage of Martin doing a river crossing ;-)
Hi Gerry, thanks for commenting. Yes, this trek was certainly one of the most fascinating landscapes we have ever travelled through. Very varied scenery and terrain. There are no biting insects in Iceland, unlike Greenland, which was a relief! LOL! You got to see me in my drawers crossing the last river; that was bad enough, but you don't want to see Martin in his Y fronts, believe you me!!!!!
Bob Evans thanks for your kind comments on our video. We were fortunate to get the only 4 days of good weather to do the trek during a 5 week stay in Iceland. Hope you get good weather too and enjoy the trek. Thanks, glad you liked our video. It's a lovely trek. Please subscribe to our RUclips channel and follow us on Facebook and Instagram to see more about our coming treks and phototours
Thanks for liking our video and hope that you also enjoyed your trek. If you're interested, we've just put up another video taken during last summer in Iceland that features the Icelandic Highlands. ruclips.net/video/pjdFPabulMg/видео.html
Thanks for your comments. Hope you get to Iceland but beware it’s quite expensive and busy with tourists unless you get off the beaten track. Check out our other videos from around the world. Martin and sharron
Fantastic video! Love the editing with all the timelapses. I did the Laugavegur trail back in July and this bring a lot of good memories. A faulty lens on my action camera ruined some of my most beautiful shots. I feel the need to hike that trail again! haha! Keep it up! :)
Definitely a change of landscape, this one.. love the music you add to your vids. Martin in Y Fronts would make watchable footage tho..next time mebbe??...llama-annie
Thank you for such a cool video and your blog (gorgeous pictures and footage)! I am going to do this hike next summer and really wonder if there`s a cell phone coverage at least near the huts. Thanks again for your nice video - one of the best hiking videos I`ve ever seen:)))
Thanks Anna, really glad you liked the video and that it inspired you to plan this trek. You won't be disappointed. From what we remember, mobile phone coverage was patchy, so best not to rely on it.
Glad that you enjoyed the trek as much a we did. Laugavegur is a very scenic route but can be challenging in bad weather. Hope that you enjoyed the river crossings!
@@1963cacalo There were quite a few trekkers when we did it, but not too crowded except perhaps at the campsites. Good level camping spots are hard to find at the Emstrur campsite, so best to get there early to get a good spot. Read our blog purplepeakadventures.com/blog/2018/11/Four-days-in-a-Volcanic-Wilderness-Trekking-the-Laugavegur-Trail-Iceland for more details. Martin and Sharron
I'd love to do that hike some day, but I'd like to know how to prepare for it (regarding equipment, physical training, any specific hiking skills, everything). Where can I find information on that?
Thanks for your comment. There are more details on our blog page purplepeakadventures.com/blog/2018/11/ice-and-brimstone-trekking-the-laugavegur-trail-iceland and in an article we wrote for UK Hillwalking www.ukhillwalking.com/articles/destinations/trekking_icelands_laugavegur_trail-11639 Regards, Martin and Sharron
You don’t need a guide and the route is reasonably well signed but a map and compass or gps would be helpful if there is low cloud. You need to book the huts in advance or take a tent. You also have to carry food. Check out our blog on our website www.purplepeakadventures.com Regards martin and sharrron
The weather in Iceland is very unpredictable. We had great weather but just the week before there was high wind and some tents were shredded and the trail was closed.
Thanks for your comment. The weather in Iceland in summer can be very variable. Heavy rain, sleet and high winds are not unknown. We used a terra nova superlite tent (no longer available) which is a 4 season tent. Recommend you have strong tent pegs and take a groundsheet to put under the tent to protect the tents floor as some of the tent pitches are in rocky/stoney areas. Try to get to camp sites early to get the best pitches. If camping can not use the indoor cooking facilities of the huts so you need to bring a stove. Crocs or similar footwear recommend when doing river crossings. Martin and sharron
Can't recommend a company as we did this on our own. It's not too difficult as the route is generally well sign posted but navigation skills would be needed in bad weather. You need to book the huts in advance or just turn up if camping. But campers don't have access to any hut facilities except the toilets and water.
4 years ago i watched your video and immediately knew i need to see this place myself. This year i finally did. So thank you for inspiring me!

😍👍🏻 Absolutely STUNNING footage!! You’ve put Iceland back in our radar!!
Thanks a lot. This is one of the world's greatest treks for good reason. Fabulous and varied scenery all the way. Well worth a trip to Iceland for ;-)
Beautiful - what an amazing landscape, and it comes across brilliantly in your film. Shivering though just thinking about those river crossings.
Thanks, Adrian. Yes, those rivers were sure cold, and the last one was deep and fast flowing, hence me wading it in my knickers, lol!!!

So beautiful! Many thanks for posting this video.

Beautiful work! What an amazing landscape. We have booked our flights already to hike this trail in August of 2019.
Cheers, Keith! Have a blast guys. It's really an incredible landscape to trek through :-)

How was the weather? How cold was it? Was it rainy?
My dream is to travel around Iceland when I’m older and finished college and university.

I am going to go on my mountain bike on that trail in july and i cant wait

Stunning footage but those massive packs swaying was driving me crazy... I wanted to reach in and pull those load lifters 😉

LOL, LOL!!!!!! I'll tell him that! But he's no Cristiano Ronaldo or David Beckham for modelling men's undies though!!!!!! :D
Very atmospheric video, nicely filmed and edited
Thank you very much!
Just fantastic. Full stop.
Thanks, much appreciated
fantastic video!!

I went to Landmannalaugar last year! Would be possible to make this trail without a guide? Is the path flagged?

Any recommendations on the best company to do this with? Thinking mid September

Thanks for making the video. The scenery looks like it is a mythical land like in Lord of the rings. Very well made.
Thanks, much appreciated. We like Iceland in Winter but this was our first visit during the Summer
Death stranding
Which month was this filmed in?
It says what month on the end credits of the video...
Thanks for the simple answer.
