I've noticed a tendency for believers to be convinced the "rich" are more blessed ("prosperity gospel") and the lowly aren't blessed (Luke 6:24). They also may harbor the assumption the lowly are living a life of sin because they're "poor." I find that the lowly are blessed with more spiritual gifts and spiritual maturity than the "rich." Therefore, it's not better or worse to be rich or poor, what isn't loving is when the "rich" exploit the lowly (Proverbs 14:31, 1 John 3:17).
