These tips is very useful. I´m using Italk to improve my English skills, and of course I´m seeing you videos on your channel. Thank you very much!!! All the best!!!
Parli italiano teacher ?! Complimenti...!! Mi piacerebe tanto parlare l inglese con piu scioltezza... Ma ci riuscirò grazie alle sue lezioni ..thank you....Have a nice day
One of the things I do in order to build that so yearned confidence is reciting. Learn by heart a poem or a passage of a film you have particularly enjoyed, and then recite it. Here my favourite one goes (from Troy's opening): "Men are haunted by the vastness of eternity. And so we ask ourselves: Will our actions echo across the centuries? Will stangers hear our names long after we're gone, And wonder who we were, How bravely we fought, How fiercely we loved?"
You are good. When you pronounce two consonants like "SC" followed by the two vowels "e" and "i" so "sce" and "sci" you must pronounce them like the english word in "sh(ame). The italian "i" is pronounced like the english vowel "e" e.g. "sh(i)ver and the italian "e" is pronounced like the english vowel in the word "m(e)adow Anyway I try to train and prictice my english, buying english books on Amazon UK and read a lot, emulating your shcwa pronunciation. Then follow english youtubers like you and follow english channels. But the phrasal verbs are so, so and so many, to memorize.. My oh my.. You are really a good teacher. Thank you for all. Hope one day to sound more native like you. Buon lavoro :-)
Hi Leila, this is your (Leila's and Sabrah's) the 99th video on RUclips. I have seen all of them. Let me add my tip to build confidence: When speaking with English native speaker we should ask the question and carefully listen in order to make understand each other. When it ends successfully, it encourages me to continue and it is convenient not try to speak fast but a little bit slowly.
Salam beautiful Leila. One of the many strategies I used to follow is imitation. I chose diffetent speaking models whom I love to hear uttering English sounds and do like them. That did pay off in fact. Thanks for today's tips, and love from Algeria.
Hello Leila. You gave us some valuable advice. Here is another piece of advice. To speak English (as a foreign language) with confidence one has to become confident while speaking his native language in the first place. I have been giving lectures to young physicians for many years. I used to 'give' new lectures to myself first, speaking out loud. I needed to be sure that I understood what I was talking about and that I stayed within the time limits. That gave me confidence. This is not the point with politicians who seldom know what they are talking about yet they speak with confidence anyway. But I am sure that they at least practice speaking out loud with a smooth flow of words. As a learner of English, I can say that what gave me the biggest kick was listening to songs, writing down the lyrics (as I heard them), checking each new word in a dictionary, and singing along to original recordings. Singing along with a native speaker makes you pronounce words properly and link them before you even realise it. And it's fun, too. Listening to the songs and writing the lyrics down often resulted in a completely new text, but I didn't mind. After all, even a wrong word for the lyrics was still a new word for me so my vocabulary could expand anyway. It's better to choose advanced lyricists, though. You wouldn't believe how many C2 level words I have found in Sting's songs. On the other hand, many songs in the late 60s and 70s were heavily influenced by drugs. So one has to be careful with the collocations. And last but not least - the RUclips teachers! You mentioned them with a smile, I am deadly serious. You are priceless treasures and each learner should find their own favourite ones. Talking about Italian, I had a situation that was far worse than yours. I needed to photocopy several pages from a journal. I went to a hospital library and said to a librarian (who was an attractive young woman) that I 'vorrei coppiare' instead of 'vorrei fare una copia'. I could tell from her face that something went really wrong. I learnt it later from my friends. You may ask your Italian boyfriend about the difference...
Wow! Fantastic tips! Thank you for taking the time to write such a great message! By the way, I LOVE Sting! I was him with the Police many years ago! My favourite singer ever!! 😊💕
My warm greetings to you, pretty leila. You always offers very useful advice and tips. I find it a little bit difficult to be fluent in Englsh because there are fewer people speak English in our vicinty. What should I do? I always hope I can meet smart people like you to talk to them.
Hello leila.i intend to watch all of your videos in the near future and i like the way you teach people english.i speak italian (spanish) and french because i live in a former french colonie (morocco) but english is my favourite language and i give it most of my time and really enjoying it. Please keep on putting up those useful vids.
phrasal verbs please!! they make me more confident and they step up my fluency more than anything else... by the way you are learning italian really fast.(being a native english).the word preferisce is pronunced "preferiche" like ch of child. i recommend the online italian broadcasting radio: radio italia.solo musica italiana.you can listen to native italians with beautiful accent (like yours) and especially goood music

Hi, I've started shadowing technique to build my confidence. It's like imitating someone. I play video of native speaker like you and follow your mouth movement and try to pronounce what you said (with pause and play)
Thank for your great efforts. I am confident when I speak with or front of men, but usually I lose my confidence when I speak with or or front of women. Because I am very shy.
Hi. I have noticed what I need to do! Be aware of the sounds IPA and Listening & Reading chunks of text and Repetition to get the sounds right. The muscles... and understanding where the sounds come from! yes, lots of practice.
Hello Leila. I realized that my first comment was a bit long so here is a shorter version. Your first tip is great but when I try to imagine someone who knows no more than 100 English words I see lieutenant Aldo Raine in 'Inglourious Basterds' (played by Brad Pitt), pretending to be Italian, caught short at the cinema by Colonel Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz). For me, the most important is to be prepared. Being well prepared gives me confidence. PS I used to be golosone, especially while in Italy. Luckily I am not any more.
Dear Leila, How crazy the world is: as an Italian English learner I, on the other hand, struggle to have decent pronunciation, especially your wonderful British accent, which I dream of acquiring sooner or later. Anyway, thank you for your tips, I wish you would visit San vito Chietino and Fossacesia's beaches (south Abruzzo) in one of your trips so to enjoy our seaside and our fish and meat restaurants and breathtaking views.
I’m sure I will visit that area one day! I’m in Sicily thus summer, visiting family. Don’t forget to watch my British accent lesson, that might help you 😉👩🏻🏫💕
Tank you for your tips to improve confidence with English. Your italian pronunciation is amazing. The word that you have read twice is little different but the other words were pertect
First of all I thanks u Leila for your crucial advice but I am living in society those are not English speakers how can I enhance my skill of speaking without intgrating to native speakers is it important to talk to myself like a crazy?
Hi Leila! I find your video useful, thank you so much! Your italian is perfect and your accent gives you an identity which I find wonderful, but, if you want to practice italian can we do a language exchange? ;D ;D I'm joking (a bit) :D

Good question, it must be difficult if you are not in an English speaking country, we have a lesson about a useful app coming out this Friday, that might help you? Also, I would suggest following lots of RUclips teachers online, look on our RUclips homepage for our favourite. Often they do live lessons on RUclips and Facebook so you can interact with them and ask questions 😊
