Penriths defence as well as nathans performance won them the game tonight. Best defence Ive seen all year from them.
As an Eels fans, I'm not to upset by this loss. Any team would have lost tonight the way Panthers played. This was THE game to lose if you lose any finals game. Eels can now bounce back next week against Storm/Raiders and build on tonight. Panthers just had too much to prove tonight. Still hopefull. 🙏🏽

Great win Panthers! Eels fought very hard for the first 60 minutes but they got run over late. Cleary was a masterclass, and had a hand in almost all their points. Just two games away from a back to back premiership.

Parramatta are the North Sydney Bears of the 1990s. Look good in the regular rounds and can beat the top teams but come finals for whatever reason it doesn't happen.

That 1991 Major Semi final Norths V Panthers game still leaves a bitter taste for the Bears fans. Panthers won by 2 points, and Darryl Halligan kicked one goal from five attempts. Halligan in those days was a very, very good kicker. Bears should have won that game if it wasn't for that horror kicking. Maybe if Norths would have gone for the tries instead of the penalty goals, it might have been different.
@@YouChwb 1997 preliminary final they also lost due to goal kicking as well. Awhile ago I found out in the 1950s they also lost a preliminary final to Souths due to goal kicking. It was a curse at the club like.
Cleary was brilliant. Blake is Parra's weak link - three dropped balls. He doesn't make up for it by being a genius try scorer so just get a solid defender in there. I'm sick of worrying every time something goes in his direction.

Both of the Eels wins against the Panthers were very low scoring games. The Panthers are an incredible team and Parra played really well for the first half but the panthers were just too good, Cleary really made the difference tonight, such a insane player. Let's go, Western Sydney for the premiership. Eels still have a chance but the top 8 are all really strong teams.

Once Moses got knocked out and come off Parra was going to lose, Arthur come on and Cleary sliced through him 2 minutes later. Whilst Moses is no Cleary he is still the backbone of the Eels and is a great kicker, runner and defender.

Parramatta could play Penrith 25 times in the regular season & beat them all 25 rounds, yet when it comes to finals time they lose the games that matter.
Also didn’t Luai fumble the ball in Penriths first try, not that it would’ve mattered in the end, they were far too strong tonight.
It certainly looked close but tbh I’m happy for the refs live decision to stand
The GF is over. Panthers will win it. The other matches though will be great. I'm thinking the match that has the team who will go to play the Panthers as the GF. Nathen is fresh use the 5 weeks off well.
If you remember last year though Melbourne were dominant all year, thrashed Manly in week one then lost the preliminary final. Don't be so sure yet.

How on earth can you claim the ref was trying to keep Parra in the game? Missed escort by Luai on Moses that should’ve been a penalty, shoulder to the head on Papali’i that wasn’t a sin-bin, and the game was in the balance until Moses had to go.

Career performance for Sailor Jerry. Not often the man of the match is in the losing side. Did well to keep it as close as it was, without Jerry Penrith win 60-0.

Not a eels or panthers fan but the way I see it eels chances of winning this game was slim to none. All year long their highest winning streak was maximum of 3 wins and they've had that on one or more occasions. This was just not going to be their night and even the NRL punters and analysts saw it coming. However, it's good they lost now because that would mean they can bounce back next week and go on another streak to win the premiership. The only two thing that stands in their way is Mitch moses coming back to full fitness and Melbourne if they win and are in full strength. Just my theory.
Eels decided to try a trick shot. Winning a game with one out hitups, not utilising their backline and having zero second phase play.

Is there a reason Arthur picks Makatoa on the bench and gives him 10 minutes at the end of the game instead of Brown who can play big minutes?
Also Blake when Simonsson was fit? Eels good enough to win the whole thing but need to get those small things right.
Not sure if you've seen the WNRL Parra side, Brown is also playing fullback for them too. Have to admire him for the hard work but during finals time he should focus on being on the pitch for 80 minutes in just their male side.
