Have two shelter brothers that had been shipped around looking for a home. One 'Flip' after I got checked out had a loud heart murmur (& high heart rate which seems to help compensate). Both him & his brother Ringo (who needs subcutaneous fluids twice a week due to kidney disease) still going at 16 y/o (with 16 y/o shelter sisters Lucy & Pear).

The other cats let the smallest cat their food because they think he needs more nutrients to grow. I know this because my black cat kept letting my orange cat eat his food until I told him blackie she is fully grown.

I got hooked on cats too. There's actually is a virus that people and other animals can get from cats that makes the person or animal enjoy cats. When mice get this virus, they are not afraid of cats and cats can catch them more easily.
I did a little googling and it actually a parasite and not a virus.
