Maybe he signed a poor contract. Because he was kicked out of the band when Metallica wasn't making money yet. Metallica was on a 14% royalty rate on Elektra Records until 1994. By 1994, Metallica had sold over 40 million records.
I hate hearing about any musician being robbed. Still, that’s big money compared to almost any new band. Hardly anyone makes money anymore from albums. Spotify and all those lowlife companies pay almost nothing
More than likely when Metallica got the publishing rights Dave didn’t, so he probably has a similar deal to what the original deal was which 10 or 15% of the royalty rate. Metallica own the music not Dave mustaine

It has got to be a substantial amount because Metallica's records sold at the millions so he at least must get one milliion per year or more. 5k? What? No wonder he is so fucking pissed/angry all the time!! ahaha
I'd say 5k is fair. the 2 albums he slightly contributed to have only sold about 5 million each. Now divide that by the over 40 years theyve been out. Not sure how you think he should get millions, when they sell probably less than 100,00 per year.

Yes, thank you! Cthulhu is a fictional cosmic entity created by writer H. P. Lovecraft. It was introduced in his short story "The Call of Cthulhu", published by the American pulp magazine Weird Tales in 1928.
If it were true he'd be speaking of it publicly much more often and would have already brought them to Court... It's the type of thing he'd say just to garner attention.
There's nothing off about this as royalties from album sales ONLY go to the performers, the producer and the record label. Dave performs on neither album hence why he gets nothing from their sales. The money he 'gets' from these albums is from his publishing royalties from the songs he co-wrote that have been played on radio, Spotify or wherever.
Now I understand why Dave does't want to give up his right on the demo songs. It is him performing there. SO he would get a great deal of money because even if it's demo tapes they will sell at the house of the millions! I have to side with Dave on this one. Like, Lars is definitely trying to j** him out of his money here.
Hey guys, just to clear things up. There are 2 types of publishing royalties: 1. Performance royalties are the fees a company or individual pay when music is performed publicly. Music played over the radio, in a restaurant or bar, or over a service like Spotify or Pandora is considered a public performance. Performance Rights Organizations or PROs (in the US that’s BMI, ASCAP, and SESAC) collect songwriting performance royalties from music users, and then pay songwriters and rights holders (publishers). 2. Mechanical royalties are paid to songwriters and artists when a CD or vinyl is sold but also digital formats like downloads and streams. For example, when a song streams on Spotify or is downloaded from Apple Music, the songwriter earns mechanical royalties based on the number of streams or downloads. Each play or purchase contributes to the songwriter’s earnings, making mechanical royalties a critical revenue stream in today’s digital age. Dave Mustaine has writing credits on 6 Metallica songs. He should get performance and mechanical royalties.

'The 4 Horsemen', 'Creeping Death', 'For Whom the Bell Tolls', 'Master of Puppets', 'One', 'Harvester of Sorrow', 'Sad But True', 'Wherever I May Roam', 'My Friend of Misery', 'Nothing Else Matters' are masterpieces. Plus covers, 'Whiskey in the Jar' and 'Turn the Page' are beautiful!
Thanks for all your great info always very interesting keep them going 👍
Big thanks, much appreciated!! Have an awesome rocking day 😊✌🎸
Dave deserves to get the same he give to Chris Poland.
Dave Cumstaine
Chris Poland has no writing credits on Killing is my business ... And business is good or on Peace sells ... But who's buying?
Chris Poland gets 50-cents pet year.
Dave Mustaine now has full credit for all these songs and has gotten back payment for these songs.
Either Dave has terrible lawyers and agents. Or he’s plain lying.
Yeah but I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s getting paid dirt cheap cause most of those royalties have been there since at least the 90s
Yeah, well Dave isn't actually living out of a cardboard box and panhandling@jamminjared3666

Fantastic content bro!

Dave doesn't deserve shit with how he treats Megadeath members

"Ka-Tulah" 🤣😂
There's isn't even an, "A" in the word.
I find it hilarious that this is even a topic anymore, same thing I thought about it twenty years ago,and thirty years ago.
Great piece of work !
Big thanks!! 😊✌
Dave was obviously “being Dave” (sarcastic)
You think he wants the other MD dudes, or the random public know how much he’s making?😂😂😂
I want to like Dave, there are many things to admire about him. He is just a massive hypocrite which makes it hard
Well he’s not in the band anymore. He was kicked out before they even recorded their first album. So he’s probably getting more than he should
Yes, but they used his music and ideas even though he had told them not to. He should get his publishing royalties
Metallica needs to re-release their albums so Dave can pay for his Megadeth sessions

He has millions he will be fine.

That's definitely not how you say it. Kuh too loo.
Still a 100% more than Randy, Bob and Lee got for the first 2 Ozzy albums.

Last time I checked, song writers get royalties.

Well maybe if he hadn't been such an ass they wouldn't have kicked him out of the band and he would still be with them today....
For real. All he had to do was not get drunk 24/7 😂
And Cliff would have never died. Damn! The ultimate band! This lineup would surpass Sabbath for sure in awesomeness.
So you don't know.
