Glad someone has finally said it! I think Jared and Thirty Seconds have already proven they can sing high quality rock music, so experimenting from time to time does no harm; on the contrary, it says alot about them as musicians. It means they are extremely creative people, craving for the desire to innovate. It's not like they're gonna give up rock music. About Jared's voice... he's been on a tour for 2 years, singing in 309 shows or so. I for one am surprised he's still being able to sing so fine. He's now exploring new sides of his voice and he does it very well. Everybody knows screams are short-lived, they really damage the vocal cords. In the end, I think he's become a professional singer, with much more control over his voice than before.
Like seriously, I tried singing (or screaming) the bridge of The Kill and I could barely talk for the rest of the day. And he can still do it after hundreds of concerts? That man has a gift! And his fans love him for it! In one of his interviews, he said that sometimes he wakes up freaking out, disoriented, not knowing where he is, and his vocal chords are hurting. Sometimes he's sick. Yet, he goes on, screaming The Kill at his concerts, for his fans, because that's just Jared. A committed, dedicated, sweet guy with extraordinary talents.
Almost one month till I'll finally see him and Thirty Seconds to Mars live and I really hope they'll play this version of The Kill. I'm so excited! Even though I have to be honest that I'm a bit sad they probably won't play anything from ABL or Welcome to the Universe. Still, I'm sure it's gonna be massive :)
