      DezGamez My favorite ram was when I was in the TIer IV Battleship and was going to swing my ship around to get a close range broadside on a Kongo. As I came around the island, 2 squadrons of torpedo bombers dropped their torpedoes too close for me to dodge (Before they put in the minimum arming distance on the air dropped torpedoes)... I was left on 3% of my health, so rather than turning to put a broadside into the Kongo, I went full speed and struck him dead center, killing him from 100% in a single ram.

    • @Raz0rking
      @Raz0rking 9 лет назад +1

      DezGamez it is. some time ago, i was in a near dead kongo and suddenly a full hp enemy kongo showed up.
      got close enough. Then i "tiped raming speed" in the chat.
      The answer of the other kongo was "i did not know that that would work. I have to try that next match"
      Most rams are replied with funny comments.

    • @Zeknif1
      @Zeknif1 9 лет назад +9

      Funniest ram comment I've seen was when I was in my destroyer running from a near-full-health Yamato around an island. I popped through an opening between it and another island and popped a cheeky shot at him to get him to straight course to pursue me. As he cleared the headland of the first island, a low health Iowa popped into view for him at top speed and struck him midship.
      His response: "American Torpedoes are OP"

    • @swack24
      @swack24 9 лет назад

      DezGamez my favorite ram is this one time in Co op After destroy all but one cruiser who just ran aground behind me. I reverse my ship and watches slowly my Battleship backs into it.

    Ramming in War Thunder, shamfur dispray. Ramming in WoWs, very honourable.

    • @facemcshooty3046
      @facemcshooty3046 9 лет назад +15

      soundslave Because ramming in Warthunder yields no reward, and douchbags do it in warthunder even when they have a perfectly good plane, and they throw it away for nothing. Whereas in WOWS you get XP and credits for it, and its more of a last resort "Im going to die in five seconds" kind of thing.

    You are so right! I am an American playing on that server. Yes, I had 5 games in a row the other day in a 5 or 6 tier US battle ship, I got put in tier 9 or 10 battles. As soon as I was spotted, all hell broke loose. Every ship and airplane targeted me and I was out in short work.
    In a similar game I survived long enough to take out a tier 9 battleship by ramming it. I was going to die and I had such satisfaction taking it out.

    • @Inyerbones
      @Inyerbones 9 лет назад +3

      The Hungry Wolf 足柄
      It's only the carriers, which act like the artillery in WoT.
      While the tier difference of other classes in WoWS don't really matter as much as the other classes in WoT. Most of the time you wouldn't be able to pen tanks 3 tiers higher than you unless you're a TD or firing gold.

    • @thehungrywolf3323
      @thehungrywolf3323 9 лет назад +5

      Chun Meng Carriers of higher tiers often have superior/faster aircraft or more of them and due to the nature of CV gameplay it is literally impossible to kill defeat a higher tier carrier if they have fighters and more than 1 braincell.

    • @gma5607
      @gma5607 9 лет назад +13

  • @JimmyTriesGaming

    You could relate this to Warthunder, You ramming these ships and thinking "I'll go down swinging" And laughing, but when people ram on Warthunder, oh no coward, pathetic idiot, but they was probably thinking "i'm dead anyway, i'll go down swinging and ram this fighter/bomber or whatever" I find this a bit hypocritical...

      Think of it more like ramming in World of Tanks

    • @JimmyTriesGaming
      @JimmyTriesGaming 9 лет назад +13

      But in World of tanks, ramming shaves a bit of health off and sometimes kills them. imagine an IS7 on low health, ramming a Tiger 2 on full health and killing the Tiger, piss take isn't it? Imagine a flying fortress on full health with full bomb load, getting rammed by a shredded spitfire with no ammo left, piss take isn't it? I find no difference Mr Jingles, don't get me wrong i watch and like your videos but i find this video very hypocritical.
      Oh and by the way, i used the tanks/planes as examples and may not reflect in game experience

    • @Drifterzero
      @Drifterzero 9 лет назад +9

      JimstaLowe I kind of agree, but even in war thunder if you have exhausted all your ammo I don't find it completely unreasonable to ram in some situations as a last ditch option. However ramming just because you don't have the skill to hit someone which is mostly the case in war thunder I disagree with. In this video that battleship should have never been in a position that Jingles in one of the slowest ships in the game should have even been able to ram him.

    Even though I have up to T6 ships, I keep and still play my St. Louis. its such a fun little cruiser. a tactic I use is if I can single out an enemy or if I can partially hide behind an island, I sail in a tight circle and fire my guns sequentially. if you time it right, you can keep a continuous stream of shots at them because the boat turns just about the same speed as your reload.

    Well, actually all pre-wwi ships have strong ram bows, they were really designed for ramming enemy ships, BB's of that era also have a single underwater torp-tube within the bow! I'm not sure if this was common design, at least it was with the Imperial German Navy. Could get interesting...

    my Favourite thing about carriers is: I have sunk as many ships with Ryujou's guns as I have with it's planes. nobody expects a carrier to come across and rake their stern. keeping with the cruisers is great for survival.

    One thing about your comment about being a t6 in a t9 game, you were also the BB that was leading the charge on that flank. Most people attack targets that are either easy kills (low HP or no armour) or pose a bigger threat (closer ship, bigger guns). In my mind, you were likely the first thing they saw and the closest thing to firing upon them, so they focused you down first. I'm sure if you were in a Colorado or an Iowa, you would have still had to deal with all those planes simply because you were the more immediate threat.
    Still, I agree that the MM can be kinda messy, mainly towards BBs, but it's not open beta, so I can imagine the tier spread reducing in a few months.

    The non-penetrating AP shell hits against armor about twice as thick as the projectile diameter or more -- as is the case with 6" guns against battleship belt armor -- only cause spalling (breaking off internal chunks of armor) in the worst, most brittle forms of Krupp-type face hardened heavy side armor ("KC" armor of various kinds) made by some manufacturers prior to WWI, which were not the usual, higher quality armor, so this is not going to be a problem very often. The non-penetrating hits are actually causing sharp IMPACT SHOCK damage through the hull behind this very hard and rigid armor (that transmits impact shock very well), which causes small leaks and various kinds of minor damage both just behind the armor and sometimes at more distant regions of the ship, especially to sensitive, critical equipment that cannot take shock very well -- calculators, gun sights, electronic equipment (if any) such as radars, precision aligned moving structures (like gun directors and gun mounts, both their rotating and vertical elevating gear), etc. The damage inflicted by each hit is usually small, but it can add up and occasionally a critical failure happens.....
    AP hits that can completely penetrate roughly 80-99% of the actual KC armor thickness actually hit WILL indeed spall this hard-faced armor, even to the point of making a large hole with perhaps a few pieces of the projectile going through, too. This is a drawback to the use of this kind of armor, though it is better at keeping out an intact, fully-functional, HE-filled AP projectile with a functioning base fuze than the softer high-strength steel armors (similar to the armors used in most tanks) -- which are used, in warships, for thin plates and for horizontal armor (armored decks and roofs) -- when hitting at near right angles, which is why face-hardened armor was used at all. But even at point-blank range, you would need later-WWII Army-type APDS or HVAP/APCR or post-WWII APFSDS rounds to penetrate such thick armor with a naval 6" gun, so spalling or punching holes by this small gun in this case against battleship-thickness side armor is simply not going to happen often enough to make any difference.

    From my experience being strictly a destroyer player, other DD players aren't a big deal after they get some experience. My biggest gripe for beta so far, has to do with the cruisers who get torpedoes and especially the foolish players operating them. I have been hit by more friendly Yubari's and Omaha's than enemy ships most days. That's right, guys and gals, your torps do NOT have 15km range and auto-homing, okay? And let's not forget about the Kitikami -a goddamned nightmare in the hands of a new player for a friendly team. Despite all of this, I try never to get upset, knowing it's only beta and the goal here is to experiment and test while trying to have a little fun. A kind word now and then, and especially a "sorry mate, I fucked up" goes a long way. Want to know the best part? Come open Beta and release, we get to do it all over again! YAY!

    To any other battleship captaibns out there watching this video...use your Damage Repair ability.
    You have it so you can reepair yourself after the invevitable beating you're going to take. Had that Battleship used his damage repair ability at the end of the video, the Cleveland would have been destroyed
    Don't try and man up and prove how tough you are in a Battleship cause you're gonna fail, and you're gonna fail your team. Use it.
