Driving home with our two sleeping children in the back of the car, street lights on, steel night sky and this playing softly. Children now grown up with children of their own. Wow, right back in the heart of that sweet memory.
I fell in love with David Gray all on my very own. Very EARLY thirties. It happened to come on the radio. I was hooked. I played it for the man i married & has my twins. We were bith immediate David Gray lifetime fans. Oh how id love to ti see him anytime, then or now. I slways know when its him. Hes wonderful. ✨💗✨🎶✨
Babylon is a great tune but it’s all about Please forgive me, for me. Liked the song and then was on trip to New York in 2003 and it came on in bar and it just felt so familiar and warm whilst I felt so far away from my girlfriend, now wife, in England. Hearing it in 2023 has me a bit of a mess on a slightly drunk Friday night
This is Monday the 11th of November, 2024. Just wanted to let you know the feeling's that your music has ignite'ed my soul my heart and every inch of my being. Love hoping one day everyone on this planet will be able to feel what is all good.
I'm 72 now and about 22 yrs ago in S.F. I had one of only 3 deeply romantic gestures in my life, this one from an Argentinian young man singing and playing this song Babylon for me suddenly outside where I lived. I didn't even know he knew how to play guitar. It was exquisitly wonderful. Never to forget Luciano. Thankyou.
This was the sound track that saw me through a painful messy expensive divorce. Somehow i got through it battered tired and angry with a life that shat on me.but i came through more wiser.....its funny that the saddest songs gives you a musical hug and lifts your head and hart and soul.......thanks David Gray.if i see you down my local ill buy you a beer.........................and that voice original soulful and expressive , you were blessed by god..................sincere heartfelt love from me.......................Doug
I can't believe I have not heard this song for the first time until about a month ago. It's such a beautiful song. I'm 66 and wished I would have heard this years ago. But, I get to listen to it now with a new appreciation to music.
Remembering my true love gave this CD to me. I never realized what the words were until I really listened to them. I missed out on my true love. Please forgive me and my stupidity. Love these songs but it really hurts me now.
This is what talent is. He sounds just as good as the recordings if not better live. He appears to sing effortlessly and his raspy voice is incredible. What an incredible gift to us all. It's a shame he doesn't get more recognition.
Started listening to him again after a good few years and now that im 10-15 years older you realise how fuckin good this guy is and what a tune can't stop listening to it☺ woooo oooh iiiii
I was about 30 when he cracked the music industry and just getting out of all the Oasis shit. Best time of my life as a song writer and guitarist. A real eye opener.
I’ve renewed my love for these two songs. I used to play it in the car. In Please Forgive Me there is a line ‘I’ve got half a mind to scream out loud’. My little daughter would scream! She’s 24 now and still remembers these songs. Music so powerful and everlasting. Where are you now David?
It's on Bridget Jones, Brennan Jules and Mark Don Cassie. That's why I got the flu shot in the pub. I guess Neil was trying to block it with Jules. I don't hold grudges after being locked in a hospital room with Cassie Mark Don. Thankfully the panic attacks have stopped now.
David Gray was my oldest son’s favorite musician; my son was a singer himself…. My son sent me a mix of his favorite songs on CD(remember those days). Every other one was David Gray… My son sent me a picture of him in concert the night he was at the concert…so happy… My son was one of the most creative people i’ve ever known-he was handsome and so respectful and loving toward me- He was my link to seeing life differently… He died 5 years ago very unexpectedly-he had developed Type 1 diabetes as an adult and no one knew he had it…He was 40…. I can’t stop listening to this music because it brings me as close as I’ll ever get to him again in this life……………
Saw him live years ago. He blew my mind with his talent. I was expecting mediocre and got brilliance. If you ever get the chance to see him live grab it with both hands
@Bago Meat Jamie doesn’t always mean James, in this case it doesn’t. I’m not the one on RUclips looking for gay men, looks like you’re finding it hard to come to terms with your sexuality buddy.
How is it possible that it only gets better each time I listen? The man is a musical genius. This album will always hold a special place in my heart. ❤️
This is an all time classic. David deserves far more credit than he gets for his beautiful music and lyrrics. This song will love with me forever as it will for millions for whom it was so meaningful at the time it was released. All these years later it still moves me.
I just love his gravelly voice and his lyrics that cut right to my heart. I will never be able to hear this song without thinking of someone who meant so much to me but who got away. This song brings tears to my eyes. Every. Single. Time. ❤️❤️
I remember my mother playing White Ladders in the car all the time growing up, this album has stuck with me throughout the years. Now, I play it with my baby in the back seat. I’m taking him to his concert next July. My life truly wouldn’t be what it is, without this soundtrack. It’s time for me to carry on that legacy

I agree that the album is totally outstanding. It seems like it was so good that he hasn't been able to repeat with another great album. For us/me it's awesome to have these to listen to; I can not hear them too much. So many songs that you hear and like but get tired of - not the songs from "Draw the LIne"/David Gray. So much emotion in the performances and meaningful lyrics; just great!
David Gray pull at your soul and rips your heart , he heightens every emotion known to man and any yet undiscovered . He is a true romantic poet who knows human nature right down to it very core .
He manages to stick out from even the very best of artists. He has something unique. His voice is at a level not even a richter-scale can calculate, his attitude is at a level that re-defines the term "cool", and, basically, he is 2 steps beyond anyone else.
To me this is how these songs were created & should always be performed. Singer songwriters are rare, great ones like David are in short supply & amazingly talented.
I was lucky enough to see David years before the pandemic in San Diego at the SDSU amphitheater. Didn't realize that would be my last live concert at the time, who knew😲 Babylon is the big hit but "Please Forgive Me" is a great song, even better live when they jam out from the middle to the end. David was really feelin it that night and he started going crazy with the head bob. I thought he must need a chiropractor with him on tour to do that every night 😁
Went to see him on the 30th May 22 Liverpool (finally after 2year wait because of lockdown) Fantastic night. Babylon my favourite one, he had the arena rocking with this. Definately see him again.

This is true. One of those artists you happen to listen to when you're a bit older and wiser...and you realise he was right there, on the nose, singing about deep truths.
