- We visited the Tiffin Motorhome facility in Redbay Alabama to tour the manufacturing and paint shops. This is a factory tour not to be missed especially the paint shop. If you've ever wondered how they paint and RV here is your chance to see how they do it. Well worth the visit.

My Tiffin 2019 Wayfarer has an amazing full body paint on it. Great job! Looks so good. So many complements.

Greetings from Ontario Canada. My wife and I have been patiently waiting for you guys to start posting videos again. We just started watching you a year or so ago. I think we have watched all of your past videos. We are retired and have downsized to a little gated 55 and up community and are hoping to buy a used RV in the next 2 yrs. I retired from driving Tractor Trailer 5 yrs ago at 56 and am looking forward to travelling over the road. Looking forward to your videos. Thanks.

LMAO, cracked up about the attention to detail. I have always been impressed with the fit and finish of Tiffin motorhomes. If I ever get a large motorhome it will probably be a Tiffin.

I am glad to see they are doing a better job. I just purchased a 2018 used and the bay doors have runs that should have been caught before leaving the factory. Our motorhome is out of warranty so we stop at Red Bay to have some things fixed that General rv should have fixed. But Tiffin's factory service is second to none. Our motorhome doesn't get worked on until April 1, 2019 , hopefully I will be as pleased as everyone else we talked too. Make sure you buy from a good dealer, not General rv of Dover Fl.

Hi Glenn, I'm glad to see you alive and kicking.. I wounded what happen to the 2nd video.. Tiffin really do make a nice coach.. My Phaeton has had very few problems and moderate care looks good..
It takes so long to make some of these videos that sometimes you just can't find the energy to make them. I do have a couple of videos ideas coming up. Just need to stop somewhere long enough to make them.

I'm surprised they generally don't let you have any colour you like. It's generally 3 options with most RV makers with the travel sickness test on the side. ;-)

We arrive back in the States tomorrow 23rd Oct for 5 weeks and will be travelling from Atlanta to Las Vegas. so we should be able to make a few videos in that time. My top three in this price range would be: Tiffin, Entegra, Newmar (but don't rule out fleetwood) these are in no particular order.
Great Escape i would put Newmar 2nd Winnebago 3rd. Entegra 4th. Tiffin 1st.
I bought a Tiffin Allegro Bus because of the way Bob Tiffin stands behind his product. I had Mr Bob Tiffin personal hand me me keys and sign my coach. I will not buy any other coach. I'm on my third Tiffin by the way.

All of your comments are spot on IMHO. Love the look of the finished product, but the underlying construction is not as good on the Tiffins. After touring Tiffin, Entegra, and Newmar the past couple of years, we placed our diesel pusher order with Newmar. Love your videos Glenn. Missed having Julia in this one.
Good to see that you’re still making new videos. Are you going to tour the southern U.S. during the winter or was this just a quick trip over here? How do Entegra or Newmar compare for paint jobs, factory tours, and fit and finish?
Hi Michael,
We are heading across to Vegas and from there we will explore some of the west coast. When the Entegra factory tour is impressive but you only see what they want to show you but it is very very clean, I haven't done the Newmar tour yet so can't comment, but the Entegra paint job that we have seen were not great. I think the cornerstones have a much better finish. I also think that the fit and finish has gone downhill since the Thor take-over.
Who do you consider to be the "Top 3" that you referred to at the end of the program?
Can a buyer request just one color paint? Or a custom paint?

Yes, sorry for the silence, it's been a busy summer. We arrive back in the USA tomorrow (so we leave today) and then we'll be making some more (hopefully interesting) videos.

In this price range I think they are all pretty much of the same build quality. you are better of buying a used high end coach.

Half a million dollars for plywood and fiberglass screwed and glued together AND they pay attention to detail, Certainly hope so! the best part is in 10 years you'll be lucky to get back 25% of your cost.
How about a tour of Liberty Coach Glen just in case we win the lottery lol. Glad to see everyone is keeping well.
Where are they based?
Great Escape they have a large facility in Stuart Florida with a main manufacturing plant outside of Chicago. Marathon coach in Oregon would give you the VIP tour also. These are multimillion dollar Prevost conversion coaches. The paint jobs on these alone would be around 150 grand
We will be heading to Oregon so maybe I'll schedule this.
The only problem I see is that I'll want one but cannot afford one !
Great Escape hahaha I can,t say I’d blame you. Starting price 2.2 mil for a dual slide, 2.4 for a quad slide but you get a full tank of fuel 👍😂 Apparently no appointments needed. You can also park your RV there with full hookup on site campground overnight if you needed to.

No, we actually started with a Coachmen then a Fleetwood, then a Entegra and that's probably what we will finish our RVing in the US with. I don't think I'll have a Tiffin unless Bob Tiffin want to do me a Mega fantastic deal.
Which would you say are the top 3?
In this price range I would say: Newmar, Entegra and Tiffin in that order.
You wont see the trash on the floor at Newmar, they sweep it into trough's and it is washed away. Very cleen factory floor. If you get a chance take their tour. You may notice they paint the sides of the slides to match the rest of the coach. I can spot a Newmar coach driving down the highway just by the paint job.
I will get around to doing the Newmar tour, but I think the next factory we will tour will be the Winninbago as we are heading that way.

Well in this price range I'm told that Newmar takes some beating, but having never owned one or driven one it would be wrong of me to voice an honest opinion. Entegra could beat the lot of them hands down if they clear out the idiots who are running the company and put some people who understand business. So as it stands probably:
Newmar
Tiffin
Fleetwood & Entegra joint 3rd place
As for me every time I walked into a Newmar coach prep or not prep I always go "WOW" every other coach does not impress me at all. I wanted to see the Winnebago Horizon and when finally had the chance to see one it felt like I walked into IKEA. I was disappointed tremendously. I like Entegra's too, but after Thor took over, not sure anymore about QC for their future. One thing for sure, they all break the same way and probably spend the same amount of time in the shop like everyone else too. I have a 2015 Fleetwood Excursion and still have no problems till this day. (knocking on wood right now)

Do you think that the location of this shop has anything to do with the quality? Most RVs are built in northern Indiana. Due to all the competition here I feel like it’s more about quantity rather than quality. A lot of manufacturers send RVs to smaller shops, and if these shops can’t keep up they’ll just send the work somewhere else.
I like to see someone take a red bull can to the paint computer matching station and use the red bull grey and blue and red
Have you ever done a tour of Newmar? Talk about attention to detail, but it is reflected in their price. I have heard several comments on how much debris is on the production floor of these manufacturers. Having worked in manufacturing, I can tell you it happens in every manufacturing facilities. Cleaning up is considered "non-productive" time. They clean up at the end of each shift.
Hi Roy, Newmar is on my list, but where we are heading next it'll be the Winni plant next. But it's always good to compare.
Roy, I spent a good part of my career in automotive manufacturing/assembly plants, our plants would never look like, At just our one plant "Michigan Truck Assembly Plant" we produce a truck every 56 seconds and you could eat off the 1.5M Sqft of floors. It's by no means is it called "non-productive" it's called a safe and clean work environment. Keeping a safe and clean work environment should be throughout the day.
There is a huge difference between the Auto and most other manufacturing. Much of the automotive manufacturing is automated and robotics. A RV is 90% hand built. I spent 31 yrs in tire manufacturing and all the trim and scrap pieces were thrown on the floor. Someone would pick it up every 2 hrs.
Sir, I love your videos. In this one you mentioned that you consider Tiffin in the top three coach manufacturers. I have begun research into investing in a 40 foot diesel pusher and would like to know the other two brands in your list.

If/when we purchase another RV it'll probably be a used one. New ones have too many issues. When we sell ours someone is going to get a very special coach indeed because of all of the work and improvements we have made
They don't buff down the base paint they clean surface spray clear buff to make even you don't buff base paint
to what up to 2week not say much for tiffin work when they bulid the bus if all them go wrong

Apparently you never worked in a factory. They have crews that clean up after the staff is through. You seemed very focus on the messy floors

It’s not lacquer. It’s a high solids urethane clear coat. Lacquer hasn’t been used since the 80’s.
Do I sense a "change of coaches upcoming video"?
Hi Danny, If I had the money I would probably change my coach for a Newmar and if I had loads of spare cash I would by a Prevost. But I don't so no changes on the horizon.
I am very happy with my older Newmar. All these units have their own issues. I have long ago realized that if you drive your house off a solid foundation you can expect issues. RVs have issues, period!
When purchasing brand new from a dealer our expectation is customer service and corrective actions. Very frustrating when you can't find that!

I was disappointed in all three of the factory tour videos by this person, What caught my interest first off was all of the grumbling about the stuff he saw on the floor but he never asked anyone if there was a once a week or every two weeks or so clean up. He just assumed and reported that he felt it be that way all of the time. But common sense would tell anyone that if indeed it was never cleaned up on a regular basis there would for sure be a lot more STUFF on the floors. Secondly, the gentlemen doing the tour video spoke of the sidewall construction as not to what he thought was well constructed compared to Entegra. Entegra does use a fiber insulation on their coaches, however it is not any thicker and most importantly it does not have the insulating properties of the foam insulation used by Tiffin (maybe that's why home builders prefer blown in foam insulation compared to batting). And best of all, although the foam insulation is lighter, it is just as strong with the way it is used and because it is as such, it allows for the Tiffin Company to be able to use beautiful all wood hardwoods for their cabinetry. And lets not forget the fact that their slide outs at Tiffin are all one piece fiberglass, which is a first and only in the RV world. Sorry, this gentlemen can say all he wants about Entegra, but Tiffin has Entegra beat hands down. From style, design, decor, construction, service, value for dollar, and finely eye appeal. You can't beat the true beauty of a Tiffin Class A Motor Home.

Great Escape we have traveled 7900 miles since June 18th Delivery. I’m sure you can easily trade for a Tiffin or a Newmar.
Why would I trade we have fixed all of the issues now. Well lets see if you feel the same after doing 35,000 ???
