I was a little girl when my dad sang this song to me while playing his guitar. Although my dad passed away years ago I still remember these moments (makes me cry). I miss you Daddy ♥♥
This reminds me of my grandpa. He was a cowboy and rancher. Very stern and serious. He loved this song. I remember sitting in his truck and hearing this play while heading to town for livestock feed and supplies. Looking out the window at the New Mexico landscape.
This sounds just like my grandpa. Except we were in Florida. Lost him a year and a half ago. I was the only person he wasn’t tough on and that’s bc I would force him to be soft. Sure miss you pa! RIP Cleo
Grandfathers, New Mexico...and Cowboy songs!!! ~ especially THIS One. Salutations & thanks be for sharing the soulful sentiments here in the listening space, Koda!
Yes and Hank is singing this in perfect iambic pentameter.....point being emphasis on the second syllable of each phrase....this is meant to mimic the beating of the human heart. He knew this.....
My dad's favorite artist , dad felt a bond with Hank because they were the same age and dad grew up in the Ozarks in missouri during the depression. He liked those younger artest of that time that grew up poor.
This is the only song that makes me think, I'm 16 years old and my dad mocks me because of my bisexuality. Everytime I get mad at him I go to my and play this and cry to sleep.
My dad’s favorite song the last place he was seen was in my hometown at the burger bar! So sad his great grandson sounds like him, but this song makes me think of my father hank was his favorite even as a boy he told me he scrambled to the burger bar to get hanks autograph, he never got it but his love for him never changed!
This song was playing the night my 24 year old son passed away

We played this at both My Mom and Dad's funeral as they were both Hank fans. Makes me cry every time I hear it as reminds me of them so much.
Miss my mom n pop too. We will see them soon. Believe
I know what u mean
I hope you're doing well. Your name makes me think of my mom. She'd always buy me a hot wheel when we went to get groceries together.
This was played at my dads funeral as well. I'm sorry you lost your parents. It sucks when that happens. :(
God bless them in heaven 🙏❤️🕊
This is the saddest song I know....and I love sad songs. The imagery is Shakespearean. The slow cadence of Hank's delivery sets the perfect mood.
He was called the hillbilly Shakespeare
,
All time great song no matter where you come from pure talent and sorrow
He stopped loving her today is pretty sad also.
@@robertdancho9671 it sure is ! good mention

Yes I agree. When I was a kid I got to see Hank perform at a place called Buck Lake Ranch.
Missin my mamma ..I love you mamma...im sorry momma ..💕 ahhhhhhh....ahhhhh...im so lonesome ....
His best song he ever wrote
The pronunciation of "where" at the end...
Gets me every time....
Did he really suicide?! This song tells you how much he was sad and lonely
The years have passed and time has flown,
Since Hank Williams died.
And as the day turns to the night,
I'm so lonesome, I could cry!
I only ask my wife come in first. Leave our daughter in the truck to tell her something to keep her out before my wife sees me.
